"B-but. He told me..."
"It must have been an imposter. I don't think Lucien is still alive."
"Who knows? You said he went missing so maybe he is still alive and just living somewhere else."
"I don't dare to get my hopes up that high."
Someone was behind us, running pretty fast toward us. "Someone's running. I wonder why." To my surprise they actually stopped next to us.
"Soren, I need to talk to you." The person said
"I'm kind of busy..."
"It's important." He whispered something in his ear.
"Alright. Can you guys get home?" he asked. Somehow I knew he was mostly talking to me.
"Sure." We each said
"Alright see you later. I'll contact you."
With that the two of them took off running.
"Sage, can you get home?" Four asked
"Maybe. I bet I would eventually. I put something in my house that vibrates a specific rhythm every five minutes so that I can find my house so I'm sure I would get there."
"What is your address?" he asked
"I actually don't know. I have no need to considering I can usually feel my way there and I never usually stray very far from home anyway. I get all of my shopping done at that market near my house."
"Alright so you don't know your address but you know it's near the market. So let's go to the market and maybe you will be able to feel the buzz from there."
"You guys don't need to do this. I can get there on my own."
"Yeah, but I'd like to know exactly where you live in case we need to get to you in an emergency."
"I guess that's a pretty good idea. Alright come on. I bet I can find it. Just follow me."
I waited a minute and suddenly I felt the familiar buzzing direction pattern coming from... the East? I turned that direction and started walking.
Eventually I found the bridge that my apartment was under and I ran my hand along the cement wall until I touched my door. My apartment was actually on a building and at the top of the building was a bridge to the other buildings. It was a pretty cool design really.
I felt along my door for the lock and took my key out of my pocket, slipping it in and unlocking my door.
I opened it and invited them into my home. "Okay now whatever you do, don't move anything. If you move the furniture and I go to sit down on it, well I'll probably fall so just leave everything as it is and don't put anything on the floor."
I felt them spreading out around my connected living room and kitchen areas.
"You have nothing entertaining in here at all. What do you do all day?" Four asked
"Well, it's not like I can read books or anything or play on the computer. I mostly go outside and train or just sit outside by the trunk of my favorite tree."
"Oh I guess that makes up for it." Kade said sarcastically.
"Yeah. Do you guys want something to eat? There's probably something in the cupboards." I went to the kitchen and opened the cupboards, feeling around inside. Things spilled out at me and onto the floor and when I went to pick them up I whacked my head on the counter.
"Ow! Geez I need to organize my stuff." I picked it up and put it on the counter. "You guys just look around until you find something to eat. Tell me when you're done so I can put it back."
"You act like we can't do anything right."
"I'm blind! If you move even one thing I'll have no idea where it is and, if I do find it, what it is."
"Yeah. That wouldn't be good. Then you wouldn't know what you were eating. Oh the horror!" Four exclaimed
"Yeah, yeah whatever. Just eat and be done with it."
"'Kay."
"I need to use the restroom so stay out."
"Hey, how do you do that anyway?" Cye asked
"Use the restroom? Well for girls you sit down and do it and for guys you-"
"Whoa never mind! That is so not what I meant!" Cye clamped his hand down over my mouth.
I bit it and he yanked his hand back. "Ow! You better not have rabies!"
I frowned and swiped my leg under his feet, making him fall.
"Ha-ha. And no, I don't have rabies." I turned and went into my little bathroom. I searched around the counter for my brush, knocking over bottles of what was probably soap or something. I eventually found it and ran it through my hair, getting out all of the tangles and leaves.
Eventually I emerged, throwing my hair up into a rubber band and fixing it so that some fell over my face.
"How ya'll doing?" I asked
"We're good. You can put the food back now." Someone said
"Uh who said that? It didn't sound like any of you." I checked to make sure all of their vibrations were the same. Yep they were what I expected.
"That was Kade. He was being smart."
"Oh. Okay." I picked up all the food and stuffed it all into the cupboards, slamming the door shut before it all tumbled out again. "All good." I said
"Well I need to get going. Gotta be back soon." Cye said
"Yeah me too." Four said
"Me three." Kade added
"Alright well I'll see you guys soon." I slipped my feet into my padded slippers. They soothed my feet.
"Bye Sage!" I heard the door open and close and faintly felt vibrations leaving.
I sighed and fell back onto my bed, starting to sing my favorite song. So what if it was depressing.
Anyway. I kept singing as I walked around my apartment, opening windows to let out the stuffiness. "Well Sage, what do you think about things lately?" I asked myself.
"Well, Sage I think things are going good. My group seems nice enough. I'm done with the wanting to kill myself thing now." I started singing again.
I heard a breath from a corner of the room.
"Who are you? What are you doing here?"
No answer.
"I see you. Stand up or I'll take action."
Silence.
"I'm more skilled than I look. I'm actually a first level ninja in this village. Get out of my house." I took a step forward and started twirling a knife around my finger.
Then the person started laughing.
I stopped, confused, then the person stood up and I gasped and threw the knife at Kade. "What are you still doing here? I thought you left!"
"Whoops." He said, still laughing.
I stalked past him and pulled my knife out of the wall.
"What did you hear?" I demanded
He caught control of himself and straightened up. "You're actually a good singer. Not sure about the song but you're good."
I burst forward and held the back of his head with one hand and with my other I pressed my knife to his throat. "If you tell anyone that I sing, and I mean anyone, I'll have to kill you. You know that right?"
"You're not very intimidating though, you know? You're what? Five foot one?"
"Five two."
"Still you're short."
"Yeah, I know I can barely reach you." I dropped my hands and put my knife back into its holster.
"Are you going to leave now?" I asked
"Yeah. I actually do need to go home. I'll see ya later."
"'Kay and remember no telling anyone."
He muttered something under his breath.
"That isn't an acceptable answer." I told him.
He left and I listened as he walked away.
I went around and closed all the windows and then changed my clothes into my pajamas and went to bed early.
