CLOTHO SPUN THE THREAD OF HUMAN LIFE WITH HER WHEEL. Humanity's fate rested in her hands while her sister, Lachesis, measured. In Lachesis' hands laid the destiny that would dawn upon us all. She held the power to decide how much time of life was allowed for each person while the third sister, Atropos, cut the thread, ending a life.

Midori found herself wondering if Lachesis had been merciful enough to give her and Naito's threads the same length ━ or at least made Naito's a bit shorter.

Why? So he did not have to go to Midori's funeral.

The pain she damned upon him if her demise was before his was equal to a lifetime's suffering.

There was no use in praying to the three sisters.

For not even Zeus could control such divinity.

The Fates follow no one but the laws of the universe, and thus it was in their hands to make sure everyone else did too.

Clotho had given Midori the blessing of being born with a companion. It would only be fair if Atropos cut their threads at the same time, would it not?

'Noona?' Ta-ki asked, two digits snapping in front of her.

'Yes, Ta-ki?'

'Why do you always think so much?'

'Because it helps me sort my thoughts and feelings out,' Midori replied.

Ta-ki shuffled closer to her on the bed. 'It doesn't help me. I usually end up saying mean stuff to myself.'

She smiled, knowing full well what he was talking about. 'If you can find the root to those thoughts then you can identify the problem and find a solution.'

'Have you done that?'

Midori nodded. 'I have.'

She had once been plagued by such thoughts. Talking herself down, endless talks to herself, only beating and beating herself. She never projected it outwards, for if she did, it could harm someone else.

'Sometimes I have trouble sleeping because of it. . .' Ta-ki admitted, eyes cast down onto his hands.

'Marcus Aurelius once said: We all love ourselves more than other people, but care more about their opinion than our own,' Midori said, glancing at Ta-ki with a small smile.

Ta-ki's lips formed a thin line. 'Yeah. . . it's kind of like that.'

'Ta-ki?' Midori asked, 'how often do you think about others when you're alone?'

Furrowing his eyebrows in thought, Ta-ki let out a small hum. 'Rarely, unless I like them,' he said, cheeks slightly reddening.

'What people say to you, what people think about you rarely does anything but reverberate what you already think about yourself,' Midori told him before sliding off the bed, kneeling down in front of him, her face levelled with his.

'Admit your thoughts to yourself, come to peace with them. You might not like them but they are you. You might change them, but at the moment, they are you and they exist as you, okay?'

Ta-ki hastily nodded. 'Okay!'

'Can you do that for me?'

'Yes!'

Jumping off from the bed, Ta-ki quickly latched onto Midori in a tight hug.

'IS IT WEIRD TO SAY THAT I KIND OF MISS MIDORI AND NAITO'S BICKERING?' Sunghoon said, glancing between Jungwon, Heeseung, K and Seon.

'I kinda miss it too. . .' K admitted. 'Naito makes the atmosphere feel easier, and Midori doesn't look as happy as she used to be.'

'I'd cut her some slack,' Jungwon chimed in. 'Midori-noona and Naito-hyung are extremely close. They've always been together. You know how hard it was when you left your family in Japan.'

Sighing, K nodded. 'I suppose you're right.'

'I want to grow closer to her,' Seon suddenly said. 'I don't think she really likes me.'

'She's not a big fan of strangers,' Heeseung told him. 'It's not that she doesn't like you, it's just that she doesn't know you.'

'And Midori usually doesn't take the first step,' Sunghoon added.

'She's the more introverted out of the two ━ well, at least in Korea,' Heeseung said.

'At least in Korea?' Seon repeated in a questioning voice.

'She's a lot more talkative when she's in England. . . according to Naito.'

'Maybe it's because she can talk to other girls?' Jungwon guessed.

Sunghoon's shoulders lifted into a lazy shrug. 'That would make sense. Even if we're all very close, there is still some stuff we just wouldn't understand.'

'Like. . . periods. . .' Jungwon trailed off, eyes darting between the rest of the boys.

'She said she wouldn't have them during the time we were going to record. . .' Heeseung said. 'Don't ask me how I know that.'

'It's not really our problem anyway. . . is it?' Sunghoon asked, finding that the conversation had taken a turn for the worse.

'Yah!' Ta-ki suddenly called out, catching the group of boys' attention.

'Midori-noona says that you. . .' Ta-ki trailed off, not sure if he was supposed to quote Midori word for word. 'Need to pick your arses up and practise.'

Seon and K burst out laughing, Jungwon and Heeseung's eyes almost dropped out of their sockets while Sunghoon slowly nodded. That did indeed sound like the Midori he knew.

As if on queue, Midori turned her head to look at him and Sunghoon felt the air leave his lungs.

She seemed to take notice of it, for her lips curled into a tiny smile, eyes running over him ━ all of him.

'Hyung,' Jungwon called out.

Attention wavering from Midori to Jungwon, Sunghoon found himself silently swearing at the younger boy for stealing his attention.

He was no stranger to Jungwon and Midori's past, but just like Heeseung, Sunghoon decided to turn a blind eye to it. He was there if they needed him, but knew that it would be best if he didn't pick sides.

But that did not stop him from feeling slight frustration when Jungwon interrupted his and Midori's little 'thing'. Not that they had anything going on ━ he wished, but nothing ever happened. Granted, Naito had always been there, beside her.

Sunghoon wasn't exactly sure how protective Naito was. He knew Naito had punched someone in the face for hurting her, and he knew Midori used to date boys. There was a fine thread, Sunghoon had a hard time placing Naito at the right spot.

If anything, now was the time to make a move.

But would it really be the right choice overall?
