Me and mom have been very close lately, it's been like 1 and a half months and this the longest she's been here since her addiction
Maybe she's sticking to her promise
I pulled my bag out the closet and stuck a little money in there than putting it back in it's rightful place, I've been saving up for credit recovery, right now I've got $350 I'm almost at $400 dollars
I walked to the living room to see my mom sitting down watching tv
"Okay mom I'm finna head over to Shelby's for this project we have to do" I spoke
"Okay baby" she spoke smiling
I opened the door to walk out
"Be careful walking there, and don't walk back in the dark if it's dark when you're leaving tell her to bring you" my mom spoke
I nodded before walking out
Ian gone lie I had mixed feelings about her telling me what to do because she wasn't here for most of my life and now she came back and tryna act like a good mother and tryna tell me what to do, but and again it feels nice to have a mother who cares about you and tell you what to do
I walked to Shelby house, which was a fat walk
After I pay for these recovery classes ima start saving up for a car I thought to myself
Once I finally reached Shelby house I knocked on the door
Seconds later Shelby came to the door
"Shalifoe come in" she spoke causing me to do as she said
"Mom, dad this is Toni Shalifoe" Shelby spoke introducing me
"Hey Mr. and Ms. Goodkind" I spoke
"Hey how are you?" Ms. Goodkind asked
"Good, and what about yourself?" I asked
"I'm doing fine, thanks for asking". She responded
"Okay guys me and Toni going to go ahead and start on this project" Shelby spoke pulling my hand
"Okay may the good Lord be with y'all" Mr. Goodkind spoke
"Always" Shelby responded
We got into her room and she closed the door behind her
I took a seat on the floor causing her to do the same beside me
"Okay what do you want to do for this project? we could either make a book, make a song, do a slide presentation or do an drawing" Shelby spoke
"Let's do a song, how about I rap and you can sing" I responded
"You do know we have to present our project in front of the class?" She asked
"Okay you sing in front of 1000s of people all the time at your pageants and I play basketball in front of 100s of people, I think we can manage to do a song in front of like 24 people" I responded causing her to chuckle
"You're right" she spoke
After about 30 minutes we finally came up the a song for history class, and we like it
We played around singing it to see if it sounded good
"That was awesome" Shelby said after we finished the song
"I maybe had something to do with that" I said popping my imagery collar
"Please, I came up with most of the rhymes" she spoke
Causing us both to laugh
Than our laughter died down... "We're good together" I spoke causing her to blush, but she tried to hid it
I look at her up and down even though we was sitting and she was looking good
"You wore this for me?" I asked grabbing her thigh
"You wish" she said chuckling
I laughed as I rubbed my hand up and down her thigh slowly because Ian gone lie I missed touching her, but once I seen her tense up I stopped and removed my hand from her
"Oh I'm sorry Ian mean to make you uncomfortable" I spoke
"Oh no, it's okay Toni, you didn't make me uncomfortable at all" she said grabbing my hand and placing it back on her thigh
I gave her a small smile and she returned one
"So how's things been with your mother?" She asked changing the subject
"Things been good so far, it's the longest she's been home since her addiction, and she been acting clean, but I'm still kinda scared to let her all the way back in" I spoke
"Why?" She asked
"Because I'm scared once I let her back in she'll just leave me again so I'm trying not to get to attached to her" I spoke
"Toni, maybe she's here to stay this time, it's okay to let her back in, she's your mother" Shelby spoke
I nodded
"You're right" I spoke

We chilled talked and flirted a little the whole time until it got dark
"Dinner is almost ready" Ms. Goodkind spoke walking in
"Toni are you staying for dinner?" She asked me
"No ma'am, I better get going my mother is probably waiting on me" I responded
"Yeah mom I'm going to take Toni home" I spoke
"Okay be back before dinner" Ms. Goodkind responded
As we got in the car she asked for directions to my house, I was embarrassed to show her where I actually live so I just wanted her to drop me off close by, into I got this idea to take me to my spot
I gave her directions and we ended up at my spot
"What's this?" She asked
"Come on, get out" I said getting out the car
I sat on the bench and looked at the beautiful view
Shelby followed my lead
"What is this place?" She asked sitting beside me
"My mom use to bring me here sometimes" I spoke
"It's beautiful Toni" Shelby spoke
"This is my spot, this where I come when I wanna get away, I come here to think, cry, yell, and sometimes I come here to reminisce about the days before my mother addiction, and about having a family" I spoke
Shelby grabbed my hand and squeeze it lightly
"You always got a family with us" she spoke
I turned my head to look at her as she was staring at me
I looked in her eyes and she seem so sincere
"Thanks" I spoke
She nodded slowly
My eyes traveled from her eyes to her lips, and even though she had on some lip gloss which I hate lip gloss but her lips still looked girl
My eyes traveled back to eyes to catch staring at my lips
Outta nowhere I got this urge to lean in and just kiss her
I started leaning in causing her to follow my lead
Before our lip touch I stopped and whispered... "I can't"
She leaned back and so did I
She looked at me as if she was confused
"Why?" She asked
"Because I'm still with Reagan and you're still with Andrew" I answered
"Me being with Andrew never stopped you before, and plus Andrew cheats on my all the time" she said
"That don't mean you have to scoot down to his level" I responded
"Whatever I'll just break up with him" she said shrugging
"But I'm still with Reagan" I responded
"Then break up with her" I spoke
"No" I responded
"Why not? Toni you obviously still have feeling for me I seen the way you was just looking at me, and you the one who leaned in first to kiss me" she stated the obvious
"I know I do still have feeling for you, but I also really like Reagan maybe even love her" I responded
"So what's all that bullshit been about today? You just wanted to tease me and make me look stupid?" Shelby asked as her eyes started to tear up
"What? No Shelby I would never" I responded
"Bullshit Toni" she spoke getting up
I just stared at her
"I'm finna go, do you want me to drop you off at Martha's or your house?" She asked
"Nah I think ima stay here a long while longer" I responded
"Cool" she said before walking off
I felt so bad for hurting Shelby's feelings, that wasn't my extension but I'm with Reagan and she is a wonderful person
She don't deserve to be cheated on, I don't deserve her she deserves so much better, and same with Shelby she don't deserve me nor Andrew
They're both to good for me and I maybe end up hurting them by allowing them in my life, and I don't want that
They both deserve someone who's not as fucked up as me, and it's crazy to think that they want me
