Back onboard the cruiser, Rex and Ahsoka were in the mess hall having a light snack.
"So," Rex said, "did you find out what Annalex didn't like?"
"Mm, yeah. I figured it out pretty quickly since she decided to speak a little bit. Apparently she is, not only scared of the dark, but she also doesn't like sleeping without an adult. I guess she feels less protected when she's alone? I'm not too sure." Ahsoka explained.
"Yeah, I guess that clears up a few things." He took a drink of his caf.
Ahsoka looked at him hard, "How many cups have you had today?"
He set the cup down, "Too many for your liking."
Fives appeared and came over, sitting down next to Rex. He put his elbows on the table and rested his face in his hands. Rex rose an eyebrow, "What's with you?"
Fives groaned, "I got a pounding headache that won't leave."
"Funny. I get one every time you enter the room." Ahsoka glared at him. "...Sorry. Why don't you take a painkiller of some sort?"
"I just did. It hasn't kicked in yet."
"You should lie down. And these bright lights won't help with the headache, so go to the barracks and get some rest. It'll do you some good. Plus, nothing's going on so you won't miss anything important. The only thing that might happen is a call from Skywalker, but other than that...." he shrugged.
Fives groaned again, "I'm too lazy to go back to the barracks."
"And if I order you to get some rest? Or comm Kix?"
Fives lifted his face from his hands, "Don't you dare comm Kix."
"Look," said Ahsoka, "since Kix's down on the field, Rex and I are essentially the adults here. So we can order you around as much as we want."
"Ughh, fine, Mom," Fives said as he stood up. Once he left the mess, Rex looked at Ahsoka and smirked.
"Whelp," she said, "guess I'm 'mom' now." and shrugged.
"Then that makes me the dad. I'm kind of already the dad to the 501st.... 'xcept Hardcase once called me 'mom'. And so did Tup one time. I guess it's interchangeable for me. They might as well just call me 'buir' while they're at it."
Ahsoka chuckled and they soon both finished up what they were eating. After putting their trays and everything away, they headed down to Rex's quarters. Once in the room, Rex plopped down on his bed and started to unclip the top half of his armor, setting it on the ground. Ahsoka went over and sat down next to him and placed a kiss to his cheek, "Y'know, unless Anakin finishes up soon, we'll have to go down there. That means that this could be one of our last private moments for a small bit." She nuzzled into his neck.
Rex took off the rest of his arm armor and gloves, then he placed his arm around her, "I know. Might as well make the most of it," he smiled.
Ahsoka grinned and stood up. She started to rummage through a drawer and pulled out one of his large hoodies. It was even a bit large for him, but to her, the baggier the better. She pulled it over top of her montrals and put it on. She smoothed it out and crawled back onto the bed. Her and Rex sat next to each other with their backs against the wall. He had his arm around her and she was resting her head between his neck and shoulder. Ahsoka pulled her knees to her chest and breathed in his scent. Rex lightly rubbed his fingers up and down her upper arm. They sat like that for a while, just relishing in each other's presence.
Ahsoka eventually broke the silence by a giggle she couldn't contain. Rex furrowed his brow in confusion, "What's so funny?"
She suppressed a smile, "Nothing...."
"I don't believe you."
"Well.... do you remember that time when there was a spider on you and you squealed like a little girl?" She started to snicker.
He scoffed, "Well, I— you— I just— ugh."
She snorted, "It's funny how you get so embarrassed easily." Rex turned redder. "See? I just got the incredibly stoic and hardcore Rex to blush harder just by saying that."
He turned his face away and Ahsoka kissed his jaw line in response. Not only did she find his embarrassment funny, but also cute. The way his cheeks would get red and the way he'd smirk ever-so-slightly made him even more adorable. He turned back to look down at her and they pressed their foreheads together. She smirked, "Have so ever told you that I love you?" Ahsoka asked.
Rex smirked, "You might've mentioned it, yeah."
"Well, I love you."
He rubbed his nose against hers, "Love you, too."
"Good. B'cause if you didn't, you'd be in deep trouble."
"Hmm, well how much do you love me?"
"Mmm, probably this much." Her index finger and thumb were about an inch apart.
Rex dramatically gasped, "In that case, you don't deserve any of my love." He backed away slightly.
"No, no, no. Okay, how about I love you to Ghomrassen and back?"
"Nope."
"To infinity and beyond?"
He shook his head, "Not good enough."
Ahsoka thought for a moment before responding, "Okay..." she said slowly. She put hands on either side of his face and kissed him all over, "How 'bout now?"
"Nayc."
She took her finger and stroked from the middle of his chest down past his navel, making his muscles ripple in response. He knew what she was going to do, and he didn't like it. She gave him a knowing look and an evil grin. Rex inhaled sharply and slowly started to scoot away from her, but Ahsoka would get closer. He made it to the edge of the bed and stared at her with his lips pressed together. She got so close their noses were nearly touching, making butterflies form in his stomach. Before he could do anything else, she started to tickle him.
Rex yelped as he staggered to get off the bed. He grunted as he nearly fell, but he righted himself and started to back up, "Ahsoka, no." He smiled.
She got off the bed and slowly walked over to him until he was against a wall. He put his arms in front of him in defense and Ahsoka used the Force to keep him pressed there. He started to laugh, "Ahsoka. Ahsoka, cyare, please."
She chuckled, "I'm not even doing anything yet."
He tried to squirm away, but the invisible force was keeping him there and he couldn't move no matter how hard he tried. Ahsoka got incredibly close to him again and a tiny whimper escaped Rex's lips, making her raise a face marking, "That was an interesting sound." She smirked.
He grunted as he tried to get out the Force's grasp, "Well, you won't hear it again."
"Mmm, I bet I could get some more sounds out of you." She said, then kissed his forehead.
"I doubt that."
"Oh really?" She put a hand on her hip
"On second thought," he said quickly. "I bet you could."
She released him and he gently plopped down with an exhale, "Thank you. Oh, and one other thing....it's your turn." He gave a quick smirk before scooping her up, making her squeal in surprise, and set her on the bed. Now on top of her, Rex kissed her on the lips and, to Ahsoka's surprise, tickled her at the same time. She snorted and he immediately back out of the kiss, due to the noise that she had made, and stopped what he was doing. She laughed at the expression on his face and snorted again, but this time she choked on it and started to cough while laughing.
Rex rolled onto his side and started to belly laugh. He tried to stop laughing, but every time he looked at Ahsoka, he'd start cackling again and he couldn't help it. He took some calming breaths to settle down and she did the same. He got on his back and rubbed the top of his head, "Oh, Force." He exhaled. He glanced at her for a second before she cracked a smile and he guffawed, putting a hand on his midriff. Ahsoka started to cackle and they both fed off each other for a while until their sides ached. Once Rex sighed and wiped the tears out of his eyes, both settled down, not daring to look at each other in case it would start another laughing fit between the two of them.
Ahsoka suddenly rolled and laid on top of Rex, placing a light kiss on his lips, "Okay," she said. "How about this: there are no words or numbers big enough to describe how much I love you."
He rocked his head back and force, "Mmm, yeah that works," he smirked.
"Good."
Rex sighed contentedly. He looked into Ahsoka's blue eyes and found a strange comfort in them. They were like the perfect blue sky and her smile was warmer than the most gentle sun. She slowly moved her head down and rested her forehead on his chest, snapping him out of the small trance. He put a hand on her back lek and kissed a montral, leaving his lips rest there for a moment before pulling away, "Well," he said. "I love you more than you will ever know."
She looked up at him and gave him an affectionate look and smile, "Prove it."
His expression changed in a snap as he rolled so that now he was on the top. He looked into her eyes for a second before diving in for a kiss. Ahsoka was taken aback by the passion that was in it. It was so pure and left all their other kisses in the dust. Their lips made a suction noise as Rex pulled away. "Was that enough for you?" He asked.
"Yes. It was, thank you."
He rubbed his nose against hers and smiled, "You're very welcome."
