Lightning crackled outside as the Alpha slammed his hands down upon the table with a thunderous roar. The brewing storm matched the growing tension inside of the restaurant. The Alpha was dressed quite casually, but still classy. He had on a black sports jacket that covered a barely visible white shirt. He had on dark jeans and simple white sneakers. The Alpha cracked his neck as he stood up at his table and some of the restaurateurs watched their argument unfold. The pale black-haired waiter in front of him merely smirked at Maximus, disrespect clear in his eyes. The waiter matched the Alpha in height and almost doubled him in the amount of swagger he gave off.

Maximus growled under his breath, an angry glare aimed towards the waiter. Out of the corner of his eye he saw his blonde friend, Grayson put his hands upon the table with a sly smile. Grayson's eyes were lit with a wild light and he turned his head to whisper something into his sister's ear. His other companion, Jaq, relaxed in her chair, her facial expression identical to Grayson's.The waiter raised an eyebrow at Maximus, as if he had issued a silent challenge to the Alpha.

"Now, you understand what you've done, correct?" Maximus said crisply.

The waiter stifled a laugh, "I'm afraid not, I did nothing wrong."

"Oh? Oh, the boy thinks he's done nothing wrong," Maximus laughed harshly, "get a load of this idiot."

"I'm not a boy, I'm a man. Besides, tell me what I did."

"You're kidding, right? You're not a man. Anyways, you've disrespected me so many times it isn't funny. I will rip your head off and carry it like a trophy if you don't bring me my dinner."

"We're out of beef."

"You just gave the woman over there beef tartar!"

"So, she's much more important than you are. She's the twentieth in line for the Crown of Monaco."

"Do you have any idea about who I am?"

The waiter laughed cockily, "Should I? You're just a washed up man with too much confidence on his hands."

Maximus sighed and shook his head, "My, my, my, I expected much better from a restaurant with this kind of rating. What's with the insolence these days?"

"Who are you then?"

Maximus held up his arm vertically and tugged down his left sleeve. A simple black tattoo was etched into the skin of his forearm, but the message it represented sent shivers down the boy's spine. The waiter's face visibly paled even further and a lone bead of sweat fell from his brow. Maximus pulled the sleeve back over his arm and covered the easily recognizable tattoo. The waiter shrunk back and bit his lip as he waited for Maximus to lash out.

"What's your name?" Maximus said.

"Quincey," the waiter said nervously.

Maximus tsked, "Quinton, Quinton, I didn't think someone could act as idiotic as you did, but you obviously proved me wrong."

"I-I'm sorry, sir," Quincey mumbled and didn't bother to correct him.

Maximus fell silent as he did a quick scan of the room. All eyes were on Quinton and himself, much to his annoyance. With a sigh, Maximus snarled briefly and everyone else flinched back and averted their eyes. Quinton anxiously rocked back and forth on his heels while he waited for Maximus to do something. He moved over to Grayson and leaned down to talk into his ear.

"Gray," Maximus whispered, "I'm going to deal with this overconfident punk. Cover the tab, will you? I'll meet you and the others back in Toronto."

"Have fun with the boy," Grayson chuckled.

After he rustled around in his jean pockets, Maximus pulled out a folded piece of paper and slipped it into Grayson's hand. Grayson carefully opened up the paper and gave Maximus a confused look when the only words on the paper were a street name and time. Grayson shrugged then put the paper away as he figured Maximus would tell him soon.

Go to that location at the time so you can negotiate a fair price for a local pack to protect my house here in Chicago. Don't go over four-digits, if they argue, you know how to get them to agree, Maximus mindlinked Grayson.

Grayson nodded and their conversation was cut short by the sound of someone clearing their throat. Maximus stood up fully and turned towards the sound. Quinton. Maximus strode confidently towards the boy, his eyes cold. A small smirk grew on his face as Maximus loomed over the boy. Though the height difference between the two was small, this time Quinton was visibly intimidated and it showed.

"Sorry, all," Maximus said loudly and his voice carried throughout the room, "show's over. Quinton here's going to show me out the back door."

Quinton gulped, "Sir, my name is Quincey."

Maximus shrugged carelessly, "Who cares? Hurry up and start going."

Quinton urgently led Maximus toward the kitchen. The wafting smell of grease and steak lingered in the air and Maximus inhaled as soon as they walked into the room. Staff gave them weird looks as Quinton dodged between people and slowly gained speed with Maximus right on his heels. Quinton burst through the one metal door that led to the alley outside and Maximus grinned to himself. The two eyed each other in disgust and waited until the door clanged shut behind them before Quinton struck. The agile boy knew that his strength was no match for Maximus's undeniable intelligence and obvious muscles, so he relied on his speed. The boy leaped onto Maximus with a war cry and his arms flailed in a pathetic attempt to hit Maximus. His legs clung onto Maximus's waist as he beat down onto the lycan's head.

Maximus easily shook the boy's weak grasp off of him before he threw Quinton off of him. The black-haired teenager met the ground roughly before he stumbled to his feet. Though a twinge of sympathy passed through him, Maximus shrugged it off before he charged the teenager. His head met Quinton's chest as he ran the boy into the wall and Quinton groaned in pain. Maximus reversed and watched as Quinton sputtered in an attempt to get the air back into his lungs. Unfortunately for Quinton, he was bent over as he clawed at his throat and hacked towards the ground. Maximus was then able to walk over to Quinton and grip the back of his throat tightly before he brought his knee up into his face. Quinton gasped and tried to run away but he only succeeded in kicking up a bunch of dust. Maximus sighed before he kicked the boy again and the waiter's movements slowed down.

Maximus let go of Quinton's neck and the waiter crumpled to the ground. In a futile attempt to get up, Quinton pushed against the dry dirt and tried to move up but his body crumpled again beneath him. Blood flowed down his face from a wound on his temple and a mixture of blood and dirt was in his black hair. The waiter turned his head then gave Maximus a weak grin before the light in his jade eyes started to fade. His lips moved as he croaked out a few words but Maximus didn't hear them all. Maximus crouched down by Quinton and managed to make out his last words.

"You'll...regret..this.." Quinton said.

"I don't regret shit, Quincey," Maximus scoffed and picked the teenager up by the back of his collar.

"When..I'm..dying..he..finally...gets..my..name..right."

The extra force on his neck slowed his breathing and the excess amount of blood didn't help his cause. Quinton laughed hoarsely and laughed up a glob of blood that landed on Maximus. Maximus grimaced before he threw Quinton's body into a green dumpster that was in the alleyway. The pungent stench that rose from the now open dumpster was completely different from the wonderful smell that was in the kitchen and Maximus hated it. A drop of water splattered onto Maximus's covered arms and the Alpha scowled as he glanced at the sky. Unaware of the destruction that had happened to his clothes, Maximus was shocked to see the small tears in his jacket.

With a frown evident on his face, Maximus exited the alleyway after he brushed the dirt off of his jeans. He strode down the semi-crowded street and every now and then bumped shoulders with other people, too lost in his thoughts. Five, four, three, two, one, Maximus counted mentally. As he stopped at a street corner, he focused intently on his hearing and heard the faint sound of a female scream that gradually got louder. Well, they discovered Quinton's body, he thought.

Maximus pulled out his gold Samsung S5 and typed in his passcode. He scowled as he messed it up twice before he could access his phone. He typed in a phone number he knew by heart and anxiously tapped his foot as it rang.

"Yo, Roman," a male voice said.

"Hey, Dan. I need a ride among some other things," Maximus said.

Dan sighed on the other end, "What now?"

"Erase all the security camera footage on the cameras at a La Trame in Chicago, it's located on Lake Shore. Meet me tonight and a ride better be arranged by now, man."

"On it. Should I ask why I need to erase all the footage?"

"Probably not."

The two men laughed for a second before Maximus hung up. The walking signal turned green and he crossed the street, his hands tucked into his pockets, and a smirk on his face.
