Aria's POV
I was in my cabin with Liam. After the lunch with Mr Parker and Mark, I bought him here. During it, I noticed Mr Parker was looking at me many times. But whenever I would look at his side he would avert his eyes. There were butterflies in my stomach due to his intense stare. 'But why would he be staring at me? Was there anything on my face or what? Wait I should just stop thinking about this. Maybe he was looking at Liam and not me. Yeah that will be the reason and here I am overthinking about it. Stupid Aria.' I thought to myself.
We have been in my cabin for nearly four hours but Liam hasn't slept yet. I thought when kids have thier meals they sleep. Xavier used to have his nap right after his lunch. He used to sleep peacefully for an hour. I looked at my desk where Liam was sitting in front of me. He was frowning about something. 'Like father like son.' I can't help but think that Liam and Nathan share so many similar features. Even small habits of Liam are like Nathan. A soft giggle bought me out of my world. He was giving me his beautiful smile. My god his smile is surely gonna steal hearts once he grows up. Although, he already took mine.
He was throwing his arms towards me. How can anyone say no to him. I took him in my arms and he cuddled himself with me. He is such a good boy. I have spent almost four hours with him but he hasn't once troubled me. He was either playing with my hair or tracing something on my face. When my attention is not on him, he pouts his lips and makes a sad expression. He likes all attention on him. Mr Parker is blessed to have a child like him. Liam cuddled more with me by placing his head deeper in my collarbone and his hands around my neck. He was clutching at me like koala bear.
It seems that like he is trying hard to not sleep. I rubbed his back and moved back and forth in my office. In some minutes he was in deep sleep. He was snoring lightly with mouth opened. God, he was looking so adorable even in his sleep. I don't regret spending my time with him today instead of making that presentation. Besides, it would take just some of relaxing time which I don't mind at all. He is way more important than my sleep. I stroked his cheeks and he smiled in his sleep. 'He must be having good dream' I thought. I kissed both his cheeks and then his forehead.
I didn't want to place Liam on the sofa so we both sat on my office chair. I placed my left arm around Liam although I don't think he might fall with his hands around me in a firm grip. I began replying work related emails and started my research on Queens Corporation with whom we have lunch meeting tomorrow. There was a soft knock on the door. Deciding to not wake up Liam, I went towards door to open it. There was Nathan standing with both his hands stuffed in pockets of his suit. I would not lie and say that he wasn't attractive because he was smoking hot. Even with his hair messed up and sleeves of his shirt rolled up till elbow he looked sexy. It was like he just came out from the front page of magazine. He was everything a girl wished to be in her other half apart from his rude behaviour. I didn't realised that I was ogling at him unless he whispered only for me to hear so that Liam doesn't wakes up.
"Done checking me out Miss Campbell. Now, can I have my son back."
See this is what I am talking about. I shouldn't think about him in that way.
"Sure Mr Parker." I whispered back.
I gave him Liam and he stirred in his sleep a bit. I forwarded my hand to lul him back to sleep but Mr Parker did that. Liam seemed to have guessed familiar feeling as he went back to sleep. I kept my hand on my side awkwardly.
"I'll see you tomorrow Miss Campbell with the presentation ofcourse." Mr Parker said with a small smirk on his face.
Oh so you want to challenge me Mr Parker. You would surely be surprised with the with my presentation tomorrow.
"Good night Mr Parker." I gave him my fake smile which he replied with a nod.
I looked at my table watch to see its already 6pm. I took all the required files and packed my laptop. After checking whether I have all the things for the presentation or not, I locked my cabin and said goodbye to Claire. I went down towards reception area. Mel was waiting for me as I told her that I would drop her today.
"Heyy Mel. I am sorry I am late today. Let's go."
"Heyy, chill it's fine. Yeah let's go."
Me and mel went to my car and settled inside. The whole drive was spent with us talking and listening to Justin Bieber's songs. After dropping Mel back home, I decided to take out chinese from the restaurant since I didn't have time to make dinner today and Vi is going to have dinner with her client today. It took me an hour to reach my apartment because of the traffic . 'Just great, luck is definately on my side today.' Note the sarcasm.
Firstly I changed into my night dress and then had my dinner first since I won't have any energy once I done with the presentation. Also, sleep is more important to me than food. What can I say I am big foodie. I had my dinner and then went towards my bedroom. I sat in the middle of bed and spreaded all the documents and files around me. I continued my research while simultaneously marking important notes about it.
Finally pressing the 'enter' key my presentation was done. I looked at my watch to see it was 12:30 which was past midnight. It took me four and half hours with two cups of coffee to complete it. God, my fingers are hurting like a bitch due to continuous typing. My neck and back are also paining because I have been sitting here for so long. But despite all these, I am satisfied with the product of my hard work. I rechecked every detail twice and once I was fully satisfied with it, I saved it and closed my laptop. I walked to the kitchen to have a glass of water before sleeping. As soon as my head hit the pillow, sleep overtook me.
I woke up with my alarm blaring on my nightstand. I pushed my face more into the pillow but atlast woke up with a sigh. I took my shower and decided to wash my hair to remove sleep from my eyes. I know it sounds wierd but it works with me. Once I was done, I chose to wear red pencil skirt with red blouse. I wore my black belt to complete the look. I did my everyday makeup and wore red pencil heels. I decided to keep my hair down today since they were slightly wet. I had my breakfast and went downstairs but not before writing a note for Vi. My car wasn't starting so I took a cab for office since I don't wanna be late.
I made my way towards Mr Parker's office with pendrive in my hand. I knocked on the door and once he allowed me, I went in. There he was, leaning on his desk with arms crossed in front of his chest. His muscles were clearly visible as he was wearing white shirt with dress pants. His coat was placed behind his chair. His hair were wet probably from the shower he took. They were touching his forehead giving him a boyish look.
"Take a picture it will last longer, Miss Campbell." He said with a smirk on his face.
I recomposed myself and once again held my head high.
"Good Morning Sir. The presentation is ready. Here is the pendrive."
He was giving me a blank stare. I gave him the pendrive and waited for him to say something. After about 2 minutes of silence he spoke,
"I'll check it meanwhile I want you to fax some documents to our client in London. I have already emailed it to you."
"Yes Sir."
I went in my office and did all my work. I was so engrossed in work that I didn't looked at the watch to see there was just half an hour left before that important meeting begins. I logged out of my account and went to 69th floor which was having comapany's biggest meeting room. Since this is an important meeting it will be conducted there. I placed the copies of contract in front of each chair and checked whether everything was arranged systematically.
I heard a throat cleared behind me. I turned around and saw a young man in his early twenties standing with a gentle smile on his face. He was having blonde hair which were gelled back and was tall, lean with pale white skin. He was wearing a royal blue armani suit. He was looking handsome. I realised that I have been staring at him for quite some time. I averted my eyes frok him.
"I am Damon Queen. Nice to meet you."
He placed his hand forward and I accepted it.
"I am Aria Campbell, Mr Parker's assistant. Nice to meet you too."
We did a handshake but then he bought my hand near his mouth and placed a kiss on my knuckles.
"Pleasure is all mine Miss Campbell."
I blushed as he spoke in his thick English accent. Someone cleared thier throat near the door. I looked towards it to see it was Mr Parker. His jaw clenched with hands fisted to the side. Looking at him made me realise that he was angry......But why?
I am sorry guys for the late update. I was having assignments so was unable to update. Oops angry Nathan what do you think about it. Who is excited for the next chapter cause I sure as hell am. Vote if you like this chapter.
