Who love drama?

---

"I'm sorry if this is way too personal but I need to know the real reason for us to win this court."

The sixty years old man shrugged as he played with his nails. "We just don't click anymore. The romance had gone. What else can I say?"

"After thirty five years of marriage?"

"Are you married, Ms. Kim?" The man shifted on his seat, looking at Jennie as if she had no clue of how marriage worked.

Jennie lifted her right hand, showing the engagement and wedding ring. "Happily married with three children."

"Three? Wow." He shook his head in mocking gesture. "I have to say, it'll bite you in the ass in the future. I've been there, done that. I used to be proud of my family; my wife, my children. I have four – three daughters, one son, all have succeeded in their own career. Who made them for who they are now? Me. Did they remember that? No. I'm in a middle of a divorce. They didn't even call, too busy with the company, endless meeting, etc. It feels like it's all coming back to when I was a single man only lonelier and sadder."

"I'm sorry your story doesn't have a happy ending as you wished."

"Don't be. Because I'm not sorry. This is the best for everybody. Isn't it funny, though? I loved this woman, I gave her everything I had. Suddenly, I don't anymore. Suddenly, I can't even bear to be in the same room with her. That's just how life pulls a joke on you." The old man chuckled then stood up. "You are young, Ms. Kim, but I believe you're not that naïve. Especially with this line of work, you know how people can change drastically for their interest. Let me know for the court date. Good day, Ms. Kim."

After shaking hands out of politeness, Mr. Ok left the room leaving Jennie with an unsettling feeling.

---

"Well. . . Well. . . well if this is not Dr. Lalisa Manoban, world's most obsessive surgeon, I don't know who would've still worked at this hour."

Lisa looked up from her patient's chart before cracked a smile. "So the news is true. You're back."

"Years late, but I am." The woman grinned. "You haven't changed, I see."

"Uh. . .no, I don't usually stay this late at the hospital anymore. Surgery were very complicated, just finished a while ago and I have to re-check everything myself."

"I'm sorry for what happened. You must be traumatized by it."

"Yeah, I am." Lisa smiled tightly then closed the chart, taking it back to its place. "What are you doing here?"

"I'm a new anesthesiology resident. Hospital will be my first home till I finish this program."

"Four years, Minnie. It'll be over in four years." Lisa laughed at the pouting face. "You're on call tonight?"

"Yes. Got anything else to do?"

"Well, no b-"

"Wanna join me to light dinner? We can catch up a bit?"

Lisa glanced at her watch; 10:27 p.m. She had called her wife not to wait up. However, knowing Jennie, she'd still sit on the couch in the living room waiting for her.

"I have to go home." Lisa said apologetically.

"You're no fun. It's not even that late."

"My wife is waiting. We work at the same building. We can meet anytime. Lunch tomorrow?"

"Yeri is your wife now? Woah!"

"What? No!" Lisa shook her head vigorously. "She's not – we're not married. No! Oh my God! She and I are done long ago. We're not."

"I thought so, too. I mean I heard the gossip but you were head over heels in love with her. I thought you get back together or something,"

"No, Minnie, no. She's gone from my life. She's not my wife." Lisa unconsciously frowned as she grabbed her backpack from the chair.

"Who's the lucky girl, then?"

"Her name is Jennie Kim. But I am the lucky one."

The pretty woman snorted. "She's not here to hear that, Lisa. You don't have to say that."

Lisa didn't answer that. "See you at lunch tomorrow?"

"Sure," she paused a little. "I'm going to walk you to your car."

"Hm." Lisa started to move as Minnie followed beside her.

A comfortable stillness enveloped the air. Lisa was lost in her thought. No one had ever mentioned her ex's name in a long time. She even had forgotten Yeri's existence in her life. Jennie was her center of attention. She made Lisa fell in love with her everyday, the feeling was thousands times stronger than she had ever felt towards anyone else. Then, what was this weird emotion?

"You know. . . I used to have a small, silly crush on you." Minnie broke the perfect silence.

Lisa lifted up her eyes, meeting Minnie's teasing stare.

"I think everybody had that on you. You were just too blind to see. I thought I'd have a chance when you broke up with Yeri. But then you changed and I moved to rural area. I heard you join the war. It must be really hard on you, hm?"

"It was all in the past. I'm happy now." Lisa answered as polite as she could. She was intentionally avoiding her friend's kind of confession. "Well, this is me," she pointed Jennie's white sedan. "I'll see you around, Minnie."

"You owe me a lunch, Lalisa Manoban."

"Yeah, yeah, sure." She waved constantly as she pressed the remote button then pulled the car door.

"For the record," Minnie spoke again before Lisa entered the car. "I think your wife is the lucky one." She took one step closer, eyes unsettling. "You're still as charming as ever."

"Thanks." Lisa nodded once then got into her car. She rolled down the window and waved a bit to the woman who didn't stop staring till her car disappeared from her sight.

---

"Baby, can you pick up the triplets from kindergarten? I have meeting late afternoon." Jennie swiftly served the pancakes to the plate while Lisa filled the cups with fresh orange juice.

"Yeah, sure. Babies! Breakfast's ready!" Lisa shouted. Soon, the triplets were all set in their respective chair.

"I can take you to the office, if you want? Then drop them off. I'll pick up you whenever you're done."

"Uh. . . It's fine. I'll drive. I have to go now."

"What about your breakfast?"

"I'll get something on my way." Jennie quickly moved to the living room, took her purse then walked back to the kitchen to give everybody a goodbye kiss.

"Be careful on your way!"

"Will do!"

Jennie had been extra busy recently. Her loyal clients needed her for different cases. She couldn't say no to them. She had tried to turn them down gently, but some of them persist. They even talked to Mr. Lee and offered great amount of reward should Jennie accept.

After negotiation that went more like a huge argument rather than discussion, her boss finally agreed to set her to the simple, demanding ones.

---

Jennie threw a stiff smile to everyone she passed by. With her purse in her hold, she walked rapidly towards her office. Behind her, a certain tall – gorgeous woman followed her. Jennie had said no, but ChaHee didn't want to give up easily.

"Jennie." ChaHee closed the door behind her. "Listen-"

"My answer is still no, Cha. My friend Chaeyoung or Irene are more than capable to help you. I'll give their contact or you can set up a meeting right this moment."

ChaHee chuckled incredulously. "You don't understand. My company is everything to me, okay? I don't want any lawyer. I want the best and someone I can trust. You're the best and I trust you. I don't want anything else from you, only your professionalism."

Jennie's stare at ChaHee was unreadable. With her eyes fixed on her ex's. ChaHee moved closer.

"My answer is still no." Jennie spoke firmly.

"Why? Because Lisa doesn't like me? Because she told you not to?"

The lawyer clenched her jaw tightly.

ChaHee laughed at her respond. She casually sat on the couch, crossing her legs then tilted her head. "You know, I wonder why you marry someone who can't event trust you to do your job."

"It's not like that."

"Then what is it like?"

"..."

"You're married woman, Jen. I acknowledge that. Can't say I'm very thrilled at that fact but I know my limit. Do I still have feeling for you? Yes, I do." ChaHee looked away then puffed a breath. "Like I said, I know my limit. I don't want to cross the line. I just need your help to my company, that's all."

Jennie didn't say anything. She didn't even look at ChaHee.

The businesswoman stood up and straightened her suit. She placed her card on the table then put her sunglasses on.

Before she walked out, ChaHee said what she had to say, "I thought marriage is about freedom and faith. If you can't work with your ex just because your wife say so, maybe you should ask yourself why did you marry her in the first place. Good day, Mrs. Kim."

When the soft click echoed in the room, Jennie averted her eyes from her heels to the card ChaHee left earlier.

---

"I have to say, fish in the city is not as fresh as the fish from my place."

"Your place?" Lisa slurped her juice. "Your home is in Seoul."

"Not anymore. The rural area people jeer at is my new home. I find peace there."

"So you'll go back there once you finish the residency?"

"Yes. You should come someday. I'll take you to look around. You won't regret it. The view of the sea is to die for."

Lisa nodded. "Sure. I'll bring my family. Jennie and Aorta will like it."

"Hm."

---

Lisa removed her glasses then set it and the book aside when Jennie slipped under the blanket.

"Tired?"

"Very."

Lisa scooted closer. She kissed Jennie's cheek and caressed her wife's arm softly. "What can I do to make you feel better?"

"Don't annoy me." Jennie smiled at Lisa's pout. She grabbed Lisa's face and kissed her lips deeply. Naturally, Lisa's hands wander to the south of Jennie's body. Unfortunately, she couldn't get any tonight.

"No, Baby." Jennie stopped the kiss. "I'm exhausted."

"I will do all the work." Lisa leaned to kiss her neck but Jennie moved away.

"Not tonight, please?"

Lisa sighed then lay in her spot. "Okay. Go sleep."

Jennie planted a gentle peck on Lisa's lips, making the latter smiled a little. "Soon, I promise."

"Okay."

The lawyer was about to sleep when Lisa's phone beeped. She opened her eyes a bit, seeing Lisa replying the text with a wide grin.

"Who's texting you?" She mumbled sleepily.

Lisa glanced to her left briefly then went back to her phone. "No one. Go to sleep, Hon. You have to get up early tomorrow."

There was a tiny disturbing feeling. Lisa didn't like phone chat. Whenever Jennie texted her, Lisa would call and talk directly. What was with the change of behavior?

She'd ask more sometime, right now she needed to sleep.

---

"Do I still have meeting this afternoon?"

"Three more, Mrs. Kim. You have a lunch appointment with Mrs. Ahn from Track, then Ms. ChaHee Park at two and-"

"Can you cancel the last one to tomorrow morning; 8 a.m.? I'd really appreciate it."

"Consider it done, Mrs. Kim."

"Thanks."

Jennie picked her phone on the table then called her wife. She frowned when her three calls went unanswered.

To: Baby [I'll be home late.]

Three hours later, when she was sitting at the meeting room with none other ChaHee Park, her phone lighted up.

From: Baby [Ok.]

---

"See you tomorrow?"

"Yeah, sure. You're buying, by the way."

"I'm a poor resident, you're a rich cardio surgeon. Where's the justice?"

"I'm fine with that chips from vending machine." She smiled.

"As long as you get to spend lunch time with me?" Minnie teased.

"Whatever you say, Miss." Lisa shook her head then started to walk to the car park.

"You buy the drinks, Lisa!"

Lisa waved at Minnie, grinning from ear to ear.

---

"So, how's your meeting?" Lisa re-adjusted her pillow then lay on it.

"It went. . . fine." Jennie answered carefully. She was not used to lie to Lisa. Her last meeting was a mess. ChaHee insisted her to sign a permanent contract while she only wanted to do the job temporarily – three months max. She was willing to help until ChaHee's company settle down. After that, she didn't want anything to do with it anymore.

It got her thinking after hearing what ChaHee said that day. She wanted to prove both Lisa and ChaHee wrong. She'd show Lisa that she could trust her; it didn't matter who she worked with, her devotion would not change. And ChaHee would finally realize that Jennie was capable to do anything; she was a professional and excellent in her field.

Nevertheless, it was impossible to tell Lisa about it now. She would not understand and argument was the last thing Jennie wanted. She'd talk once it's over.

"Just fine?"

"Yeah. Come here." Jennie patted the space next to her. "I don't want to talk about work."

"Why?"

"Work is stressing and I only want to do fun things with you." Jennie smiled as Lisa closed the gap.

"What fun things?" Lisa asked between the kiss.

"Got anything in mind?"

"Hm. A lot, actually. You're up for it?"

Jennie bit Lisa's lower lip teasingly. "My body is all yours."

It had been a while since the last time they made love. The two of them were busy with work and the triplets. When the night came, both were exhausted already. No more energy for work out. They had missed the intimacy. Besides, tomorrow is Saturday. Jennie had told her boss she'd take a day off. The triplets spent the weekend at their grandparents' place. So, the couple had the house for themselves.

"Mmm, Baby, that's so good! Don't stop!" Jennie moaned while opening her legs wider for the better access. Her body was on fire. Lisa touched just on the right spot, making her fly to the seventh heaven.

"Yeah? You like that?"

"Fuck, yes!"

"Watch your word, Baby." Lisa smirked watching her wife's sexy face sweating.

Jennie seemed to like what she was doing. Therefore, she went further.

"Oh, fuck! Hon, that's so deep!" She clutched Lisa's neck tightly. She barely can keep it any longer.

"Cum for me." She whispered lustily as she nibble Jennie's earlobe, almost sending the latter off the edge.

Suddenly, Lisa's phone ring, making her motion slowed down.

"No, Baby, don't stop. Don't pick it up." Jennie said breathlessly.

"Okay."

The phone ringed again.

Lisa was hesitating.

"Lisa, look at me. Do me, now!"

"It can be an emergency."

"I am your emergency right now. Don't leave me hanging or I'm gonna hate you for the rest of my life."

"A – alright."

Third ring and Lisa finally lost it. She pulled out, quickly reaching her phone. It was indeed an emergency. A five years old boy came to the ER with chest trauma. An emergency surgery was needed.

"Prepare the OR. I'll be there in fifteen."

She ended the phone. Cautiously, she turned to her back. It was not a surprise Jennie's back was facing her.

"Hon-"

"Just go." She said coldly.

"Someone's child is dying."

"Yeah, sure."

"Are you okay?"

"Do I look okay to you?" Jennie's eyes were dangerously full of fury.

"Well. . . no but-"

"Just go."

"I'll make it up-"

"Don't even think about it." Jennie pulled the blanket, wrapping her body under it.

With a sigh, Lisa finally moved from the bed.

What a night.
