"Lisa? Are you okay?" I heard Jaerin unnie's voice behind me as she closed the door of the room.
There was silence in the hallway, only echoes of footsteps and muffled voices from the end of the hall can be heard and nothing else.
With a clipboard on one hand and my eyes on the marble floor, I took tiny steps, forcing myself to move as my body seemed to be staying still.
"Lisa?" I heard her Jaerin unnie's voice again.
Still, I didn't respond to her, scared that I might start sobbing right in the middle of the hallway if I open my mouth and the tears forming will fall down my cheeks.
My lips began to quiver and hands curled into fists as I tried to hold in my sobs and tears.
Then, I felt a hand on my shoulder but I didn't bother turning around to look back at her.
"Let's go," Jaerin unnie said.
Without uttering a single word, I followed behind her as we walked back to the lounge room where I am sure that my sisters are waiting for me as our shifts end.
She's alive.
My sister - our sister is alive but she has no idea who I am nor what I am to her.
After a whole year of searching for her, I hoped that when they do find our sister, they'd find a living being and not a dead body.
Now that she was standing right in front of me, I couldn't even hug her because she couldn't remember me nor recognize me.
What happened?
I wanted to pull her into a tight embrace but I knew that she would just push me away because I am a stranger to her.
Also, there was a man standing right behind her staring at me like I was going to take her away or something.
He seemed close with my sister by the way they talked and interacted to each other. I wonder what their relationship is?
I'm sure Yoongi won't like this once he hears what I'm about to say.
My heart ached again at the thought of telling the others what Jaerin unnie and I had seen and heard.
They probably won't even believe that our missing sister is alive.
Explaining to them Jennie unnie's situation would be a problem and a hassle because I am sure that they will have a lot of questions.
We already found her but she can't even remember us.
There was a tiny uncomfortable silence between the two of us as we made our way to the lounge room but I didn't bother and just ignored it.
We arrived at the lounge room where my sisters were waiting for me.
"There you are, Lisa!"
Jaerin unnie was the one who opened the door for me as we are greeted by my older sisters.
I forced a smile, "Let's go? I want to go home now."
Jisoo nodded, "Yeah, let's go, mom and dad will be waiting for us back at home."
After saying goodbye to Jaerin unnie and the other staff, my sisters and I walked back to the parking lot and to our own cars in which I am thankful for.
I don't think I can keep smiling at my sisters anymore because of what happened.
The drive home was quiet and peaceful, it helped me calm down and think about how I'm going to tell everyone about what happened.
My sisters and I had bought our own places a few months after Jennie unnie died but we decided to stay back at our parent's house from time to time to keep them company.
Keeping my eyes on the road, I suddenly heard my phone rang right beside me and I took a quick glance and saw the name written above the number.
With my eyes still focused on the road, I pressed a button on my phone and a familiar voice echoed in my room.
"Good evening, babe."
I smiled and my heart swelled as soon as I heard his voice, "Hey."
"How was work? Did you do anything interesting today?"
I couldn't tell him what happened earlier, not right now.
"Yeah, I did some interesting stuff but it's too gory for your taste. What about you? What did you do today?"
He chuckled, "I've been dating you for a long time, I'm sure it's not that bad."
I smiled at what he said. It's true, we have been dating for almost over a year now.
"Well, unlike you, I didn't do anything fun today. I wanted to best up some assh*oles right around the corner downtown but my dad would kill me if I don't attend four meetings and finish a whole batch of files today."
"I'm sure you did great," I told him.
My grip on the steering wheel tightened when I remembered about what I was going to tell them.
"Hey, um, can we talk later?" I said. "I'm on the road and I also have something to tell you once I get home."
There was a short silence on the other line.
"Are you breaking up with me?"
My eyes widened at his absurd question, "What?! No! Why would you think that?"
"It's just that, you sound so serious and I was scared that I might've said something wrong -"
I shook my head even though he can't see me, "No, Jungkook, you did nothing wrong and I'm not breaking up with you. I just have something really important to tell you and everyone else."
"Everyone?"
I nodded, "Everyone."
The call ended a few moments after that and we finally arrived at our parent's house.
My sisters and I walked in and saw that there were sounds coming from the kitchen only to see our parents arguing about which type of plate to put on the table.
"Hey mom, dad," Chaeyoung unnie said, earning both of their attention.
"There you are!" Mom exclaimed as she walked over to the three of us and gave us each a hug.
"You're acting like they don't work at the same hospital as we do," We heard dad say from the other side of the room.
After a few greetings we all sat together at the dinner table and began to eat in comfortable silence, there were a few short conversations here and there.
Mom and dad had finally thrown away their beliefs against Yoongi and the others, just like Yoongi, they believe that it's also their fault that our sister went missing.
If only they had accepted Bangtan and let us have our own decisions as adults, maybe Yoongi could have had the chance to protect Jennie before she was taken away right under our noses.
Accepting Bangtan was also our parent's way of apologizing and remembering Jennie unnie.
Halfway through dinner, I finally decided to tell everyone what happened in the hospital today.
"She's back," I broke the silence.
They all glanced at me.
"Who?" My dad asked.
I gulped and stared down at my plate, "Jennie unnie is back, she's alive."
Everyone's eyes widened and my parent's couldn't help but gasp at the information.
"Lisa, what are you talking about?" Jisoo unnie asked.
"Remember what Jaerin unnie said about meeting Jennie unnie in the garden? It's all true, she's alive," I explained. "We were delivering dinner to the patients and we found her."
"Was it really her?" My mom asked, there were tears forming in her eyes.
I nodded with a smile, "Yes, I'm sure of it. There's not a single strand of hair out of place."
"Then, why isn't she here?" Dad asked. "Surely she would've gone with the three of you."
That's when the smile on my face slowly faded away and they all waited for me to respond.
"That's the problem," I said. "When I saw her, she didn't even remember me."
"What do you mean?" Chaeyoung unnie asked. "Why wouldn't she remember you? You're her sister, her family."
I shook my head, "She doesn't recognize me and Jaerin, she was convinced that we had the wrong person and it looked like she's with a patient in the hospital."
Dad nodded, "We'll check the hospital for every patient that had been checked in today."
Our oldest sibling turned to our mother with concern on her face.
"What do you think happened to her? Why couldn't she remember Lisa?"
Mom sighed as a tear fell down her cheek, "There is a possibility that the fall might have done something and caused it."
"Caused what?" I asked.
She glanced at the three of us and with a firm tone, she replied.
"Amnesia."
