Winter Is Coming

A few hours before Christmas eve, Jennie is taking out the roasted turkey from the oven. She's taking her time with the preparation of the food, since she's planning on inviting their friends over for dinner.

While Jisoo on the other hand? Well... She's not much of a help really. Jennie doesn't like her anywhere near the kitchen 'cause you can guarantee the mess that she'll make if she's there.

Jennie is already in her third trimester of pregnancy, and she's pretty much excited and nervous of the arrival of their first baby. They still hadn't decided yet what name should they give their daughter, since Jisoo wanted a Korean name for their daughter, and Jennie wanted to name her after the couple's favorite season and because the child will be born during winter.

"Baby, can you help me in setting up the table? Just— you know...put the plates and the other stuff neatly on the table...please. I'm almost done here." Jennie asked her wife who is just watching her from the door of the kitchen.

The latter followed what her wife asked her to do and immediately went to the cupboard to get the flatware and plates. She was busy setting up the table when she heard the loud sound of a glass breaking from the kitchen.

She immediately ran to check her pregnant wife and saw Jennie kneeling on the floor— holding on to the edge of the kitchen counter while the other hand is on her stomach as she grimaced in pain.

"W—what's wrong? T—tell me... Jennie, what's wrong?" Jisoo uttered, clearly in panic as she watched her wife who is sweating bullets matched with an unnatural pale complexion.

Jennie is taking deep breaths, trying to calm herself down. She grabbed Jisoo's hand and squeezed it tightly. She felt Jisoo's cold hands, the same cold hands that she felt during their wedding, and she knew that her nervous wife is on the verge of fainting if she doesn't calm herself down first.

"Baby— tell me! What's wrong! Jennie!" Jisoo yelled, she could feel herself almost on the verge of hyperventilating.

"Jisoo, calm down." Jennie whispered through the pain, but her wife didn't hear it.

She is trying to take deep breaths to calm her nerves, but the pain in her stomach is too unbearable.

"Jennie! Answer me damn it!" Jisoo yelled once more which earned a glare from her pregnant wife.

"Did you just curse at me?!" The latter retorted.

Jisoo flinched when she realized what she has done. She looked at her wife in pure terror and started taking deep breaths along with her wife.

"I—I'm sorry, baby. I wasn't— I wasn't cursing at you. Now tell me where it hurts." She uttered softly as she caressed her wife's hand.

Jennie grimaced and squeezed Jisoo's hand even more. But taking deep breaths isn't doing anything for her, she's still in so much pain so Jisoo decided to take her wife to the hospital— thinking that Jennie is in labor already.

"Kim Jisoo! Drive faster!" Jennie yelled at the backseat of the vehicle.

Jisoo kept looking back and forth at the road and then at her wife. "I am, baby! I am driving as fast as I can! Calm down!"

"I am calm! You calm down! Why are you yelling at me?!" The pregnant woman yelled back in agitation.

"I'm not yelling baby... Jesus! We're almost there. Hold on a bit okay?" Jisoo uttered and focused herself on the road.

"I AM HOLDING ON! WHAT CHOICE DO I HAVE?! THIS IS YOUR FAULT, KIM JISOO!" Jennie cried out loud. The pain in her abdomen is making her emotions uncontrollable.

Jisoo is taking deep breaths as the pressure of the situation is making her feel lightheaded. Breathing in and out along with her wife, releasing the tension off of her chest.

She stopped in front of the emergency room and called the medical staff to help her wife. They immediately ran to where Jennie is and put her on a wheel chair. She ran along with the medical professionals in taking her wife to the emergency room.

"How is she, Doc?" Jisoo asked the doctor who attended to her wife.

"She's fine, it's just a cramp. She's not in labor yet, but she's definitely close." Doctor Mizuhara uttered with a huge smile on her face.

Jisoo sighed in relief. "Can I see her now?" She asked.

The doctor nodded and gestured her to go see her wife.

The latter hurriedly entered her wife's room and sat on the edge of the hospital bed. Jennie opened her eyes and smiled.

"Sorry about what I said earlier." Jennie murmured and kissed her worried wife's hand.

Jisoo shook her head. "It's okay, I understand. I'm sorry I wasn't of any help." She said and caressed her wife's face.

"You did help me, baby. Don't feel bad about it, our child is coming soon." Jennie uttered, trying to comfort her wife.

"Merry Christmas, Mandu."

"Merry Christmas, Chu."

They celebrated Christmas together at the hospital. Jisoo had no plans on leaving her pregnant wife's side— keeping her eyes peeled for whenever Jennie feels a slight hint of pain in her stomach.

It has been a couple of days since Jennie was brought to the hospital. The couple decided that it would be best if they stayed at the hospital until Jennie gives birth to their child. Jisoo almost never slept throughout the whole duration of the stay.

December 31st at 8am, Jennie started feeling the contractions, Jisoo is eating her breakfast when her wife suddenly woke up, crying in pain. She almost choked on her ramyeon and spilled some hot soup on her pants when she abruptly stood up from her seat and banged her knees on the table in front of her.

"What's wrong?!" Jisoo asked when she reached her wife's side with her ramyeon soup soaked pants.

Jennie grabbed her harshly by the nape which made the latter almost stumble on top of her.

"Call the doctor." Jennie tried her best to utter a single sentence but it came out as a whisper which Jisoo failed to discern.

"W—what?" The latter asked.

Jennie gulped the lump in her throat and tried her best to say something once again. "Call the doctor."

Jisoo still didn't understand what she was trying to say which pissed the pregnant woman off.

She took a deep breath and glared at her wife. "I said... CALL THE DAMN DOCTOR!" Jennie yelled which snapped Jisoo out of her momentary brain-lag.

She hurriedly ran out the door to call the doctor.

The medical professionals quickly came to her aid. They took her to the delivery room where they waited for the next stages of her labor.

Her water broke after a few hours which made the pain even worse.

While Jennie is grimacing in pain, Jisoo is almost on the verge of collapsing. She's once again feeling lightheaded and pale. Cold sweats running down her forehead as she watched her wife endure the pain of her contractions every few minutes.

Jennie is already feeling tired, frustrated, and irritated because of the excruciating pain. She's feeling overwhelmed by the strength of the contractions that it gives her little to no time for rest.

The doctor asked Jisoo to leave the room for a bit when she noticed the woman's face. The latter refused to leave and stayed at her wife's side, holding her hand as Jennie's breathing became uneven.

"Baby, I think you're going to faint sooner or later." Jennie murmured through labored breathing.

Jisoo wiped the sweat on her forehead. "Yeah... I think so too." She replied and gulped the lump in her throat.

"But don't worry about me… I'll be fine—" Before she could even finish what she was about to say, Jisoo collapsed on the floor and got knocked out cold, even banging her head on the floor.

"Baby!" Jennie yelled when she saw her wife on the floor. "Please help her…please."

The nurses hurriedly came to her aid. They checked her head for any signs of injury but lucky for her, she got none.

Jisoo got back to her senses and looked at her wife.

"Are you okay? Talk to me, Kim Jisoo." Jennie asked worriedly.

Jisoo raised her hand and gave her wife an okay sign.

The latter is still not convinced, she didn't even mind the pain of her contractions anymore.

"Are you sure?" Jennie asked.

Jisoo nodded her head. "Yes, Mandu… I'm fine. Now just focus on what you have to do. I'll be up in a sec." She uttered, still lying on the ground— trying to regain her composure.

The nurses helped her up and went back to her wife's side like nothing happened.

"Are you sure you're okay?" Jennie asked once more with difficulty.

"I'm okay." Jisoo whispered and kissed her on the forehead.

Jennie squeezed her wife's hand with almost no strength. She's just too tired to even grip Jisoo's hand.

It was almost midnight when she felt the intense pressure in her lower abdomen. Well, she's not even sure if it was her abdomen or her you know— and Jisoo is trying her best to stay conscious, it even looked like she's the one who is enduring the pain.

As the clock struck 12, and the rest of the world is screaming “Happy New Year!” a cry from a new human life echoed all over the room.

"Congratulations, Mrs. Kim it's a girl!" The doctor uttered when she successfully removed the baby out of her mother.

Jisoo let out a loud sigh of relief while looking worriedly at her daughter, and then she placed a lingering kiss on her wife's forehead. "Good job, baby…good job."

The doctor placed the baby on Jennie's chest, as the couple watched their new born snuggle on her mother.

"We still haven't thought of a name." Jennie murmured weakly.

Jisoo caressed her wife's forehead and looked at her intently.

"Can we just put the names that we thought of together? It doesn't sound that bad right?" Jisoo uttered.

"She looks just like you. I think it's best if we put your suggested name first. Let's call her Minjeong Winter Kim." Jennie whispered just enough for Jisoo to hear.

The latter smiled widely at what her wife suggested. "Yeah... Minjeong Winter Kim doesn't sound that bad." She said and kissed her wife on the lips.

After a few days, Jennie got discharged from the hospital. She took a time off from work and took care of their new born baby.

Jennie just put their daughter to sleep and returned to their bed where Jisoo is waiting for her.

She laid down beside her wife, using the latter's arm as her pillow as she snuggled closer to the woman beside her.

"Mmm… You're so warm." Jennie uttered using her baby voice.

Jisoo chuckled upon hearing her clingy wife. She brushed her fingers through the latter's hair softly.

"You do know that I love you right?" Jisoo whispered.

Jennie looked up at her face, now they're looking at each other eye to eye.

"Mmm." The catlike eyed woman nodded.

The raven haired woman caressed her face, while looking softly into her eyes.

"Let's not have another baby. I mean… Winter is enough, I don't want you to suffer like that ever again." She whispered softly.

Jennie remained silent for a few minutes, which is making the latter nervous. She's just looking at Jisoo with an unreadable facial expression.

Then a smile slowly appeared on her face. She gave Jisoo a quick peck on the lips.

"Yeah. That sounds like a good idea. Let's just adopt if Winter wants a younger sibling. Giving birth isn't really my cup of tea." Jennie chuckled which made Jisoo sigh in relief.

They did exactly what they talked about. They didn't make another baby.

The couple were also just waiting for Winter to ask for another sibling but every time they bring up the subject, the firm refusal in their daughter's words were evident.

Winter didn't like the idea of having a sibling, and so the couple did what their only daughter wants. She remained the only child, and princess to both her mothers.

They say that when you're with someone during the first snowfall, you will stay together for a long time...or if you make a wish during the first snowfall your wish will come true.

The day that Winter came was like the first snowfall in Jennie and Jisoo's life. She's the wish that came true, and she'll be one of the greatest factor why her parents will love and stay together for the longest time.
