"Clamp, please."
Lisa was focusing on the beating heart in front of her. CABG was a procedure she did in daily basis. She could do it in her sleep. Nevertheless, she was very careful and cautious about her work.
"Dr. Manoban, your phone." Her resident informed her. She had set her phone on vibrate because she hated it if she was disturbed during surgery.
"Who's calling?" She asked through her mask without taking her eyes off the heart.
"My Lady." Her resident read the name.
"Pick it up."
The resident accepted the call and put the speaker on.
"Hello."
"Hey, Baby. Are you busy?" Jennie's voice came from the other side.
"My hand are holding a heart at the moment," She said as if it wasn't a big deal. "What's up?"
"Am I on speaker?"
"Yes."
"Put me on private, please. I'll be quick."
Lisa gestured to her resident to do as her wife said. He attached the device to her ear.
"You're on private." Lisa announced. "What's up?"
"There's going to be a lot of dirty sex for you tonight. Look forward for it." Jennie's voice was low, sexy and full of seduction. It easily made her brain went blank immediately. "See you soon, Baby." Jennie hung up.
Lisa stopped breathing for a while. Her throat was dry. She blinked couple times and swallowed her saliva forcefully.

"I am pregnant." Jennie repeated without a hint of joking.
There was a long pause — not even Lisa's breath sound was audible.
"Baby?" Jennie pushed her body up only to see Lisa with her dumb expression staring blankly at ceiling. "Lili?" She shook her wife's body worriedly.
"Please tell me you're kidding?" Lisa's face was pale and full of terror.
"What?!" Jennie couldn't believe her ears. She thought Lisa desperately wanted a kid. This was totally not the reaction she had in mind.
The look upon Jennie's was nowhere near kidding. "Oh you're not kidding!" Lisa gasped. "Oh my God!" Lisa abruptly sat up as she cover her face in her palms.
"Lisa. . ." Jennie felt rejected by the unexpected respond.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Lisa whispered through her palms.
"I'm telling you right now." Jennie spoke. Her voice cracked. She was so close to cry. It finally worked and Lisa wasn't happy about it. And now, what was she going to do with the developing embryo inside her?
"Oh Honey, why are you crying?" Lisa quickly embrace her wife and hugged her tight.
"I'm pregnant and you're not happy about it. How am I suppose to react?"
"What? No! No! We've been waiting for this. I — I'm thrilled!"
"You sure look like it." She replied sarcastically.
"I'm sorry." Lisa brushed the tears away. "It's just — we just —"
"We just what?" She glared at the annoying woman beside her.
"We just did the nasty thing. Our baby is inside your tummy." Lisa spoke lowly as if she was scared that their baby would hear it.
"We were making love, Lisa." Jennie stated firmly. "We didn't do anything nasty."
"You know what I mean."
"Doesn't mean I like it."
"It's just figure of speech."
"I still don't like it. I'm making love to you and you say it's nasty?"
"You started it by saying lots of dirty sex for me." Lisa argued back. "Look, I'm sorry, okay? I —" Lisa looked so lost. "You should've told me."
"I'm telling you now," She repeated. "this is totally not what I expected!" Jennie was beyond disappointed. She wanted to deliver the news through a special way but what she got was one hundred and eighty degress the opposite.
"Was I too rough?" Lisa asked instead. "Are you okay?"
"Are you okay?"
"Did I hurt you?" Lisa reached out, stroking Jennie's sweaty stomach attentively. There wasn't any visible change yet. Her belly was still as flat as before. "I'm sorry."
"Why?"
"I'm sorry I reacted that way. I'm just surprised that's all. I'm happy, Nini. Very, very happy." Lisa caressed Jennie's cheek softly. Her eyes radiated all the love she barely could bear in body. Lisa leaned to Jennie's lips and kissed it painfully slow. The latter naturally returned the favor. "I should be more gentle," Lisa whispered without breaking the contact.
Jennie finally cracked a smile. Now she understood where Lisa's reaction came from. Lisa was scared if she hurt her and their baby in any way. Although the moment was ruined, Lisa knew how to make it up in the best way.
"But I love it. I like exploring new things with you."
"We can always do it." Lisa smiled reassuringly. "Our baby is finally here, Nini!" Her voice was full of excitement and delight.
Lisa touched her wife's belly in awe as she moved closer. She placed a light kiss on top of it. She closed her eyes and said her prayer. She wasn't a religious person to begin with, but she prayed so hard to anyone who was willing to hear her. "Please bless us."

Happiness was a proper word to portray their feeling. They once felt whole for being with each other but now everything was almost perfectly complete. Their little one was coming after a long time of waiting.
Jennie let herself entirely down in Lisa's hold. She was making simple roasted bacon for breakfast but Lisa just couldn't keep her hands to herself even for a second. She teasingly slipped her hand under Jennie's oversized white shirt making the latter yelped in surprise. Lisa laughed at the reaction then spoiled her wife with a lot of kisses.
"I love you."
"I love you more." Jennie turned around as she gave Lisa a quick peck on her nose. "Must you really cling to me like this, though?"
"I want to be as close as possible to you."
"Me or our baby?"
"Both of you." Lisa tightened her embrace. "I can't believe he's really here, Nini. It feels so surreal."
"You better believe it. I'm going to lose my abs in a few months." Jennie giggled.
"You will be as beautiful as ever, Babe."
"I'll take that lame compliment." She laughed wholeheartedly.
"Dance with me." Lisa pulled Jennie by the waist and led her to the bigger space as she began to sway their body in inaudible rhythm.
"The meat will burn, Lili." Her words betrayed her action. Jennie was enjoying the pleasant treatment Lisa gave her. She couldn't careless about the meat. So what if it burnt? They could always get breakfast at the diner downstairs.
"Let it be." Lisa replied shortly.
Together, they danced in perfect sync to the beating of their heart. Lisa hummed their wedding song melodiously against Jennie's ear. The warmth Lisa provided for her was exhilarating. If, by the end of this dance her breath was taken away, Jennie would know the exact reason why.

"We should call Sana to get you some test." The Doctor folded her long sleeve. She grabbed her ID card on the table and slipped it inside the fresh and fragrant lab coat.
"Oh, about that." Jennie grinned guilty. "I've done the test yesterday."
"Huh?"
"I wanted to be really sure. I was afraid the test pack was wrong so I came to the hospital and Sana had done everything she needed. She said I'm positive. Please don't be mad?"
"Oh, that's fine." Lisa tried to sound cool though she was a bit down to the fact that she wasn't the first to know about the joyful news. "So I'm the second to know?"
"Er, actually, you're the eight person." Jennie quickly approach her shocked wife and silenced her protest with a kiss. "Let me explain first."
"I'm your wife." Lisa said as a matter of fact.
"I've had this hunch for a while but I was too scared to try. When I visited my office yesterday, Chaeyoung and Irene Unnie encouraged me to do the test and it showed two red lines. I called Mommy but Daddy was with her then I called Mom and Dad was also with her. They suggested me to ask Sana about it, so I did. She did some blood test and confirmed my pregnancy. She said my HCG levels was kind of high though."
"Babe, you're supposed to share it with me first."
"I don't want to make you disappointed again, Lili. I thought, if it were a false positive, I'd have more time to think how to talk to you about it. I didn't mean to--"
"It's fine." Lisa gave Jennie a hug. She understood how stressed Jennie regarding this matter. Her intention was nothing but to protect her heart anyway. "But from now on, I get to know first before anyone else, okay?"
"Okay. I'm sorry."
"You don't have to. Thank you for being so kind to me." Lisa smiled and then kiss her cheek. "Sana is going to Jeju this morning. I'll talk to her about that HCG levels and your USG schedule later, okay?"
Jennie nodded gratefully. Lisa's clear brown eyes pierced through her orbs with a deep and irresistible stare.
One thing Jennie knew for sure, she was one lucky girl to receive a partner like Lisa.

"I need you to be at the delivery room when the time come." Jennie said that afternoon when she and Irene went to the mall. She was bored at home with nothing much to do so she called her friend to accompany her shopping.
"Why? Lisa will be there." Irene said as a matter of fact.
"Of course, but I need you too."
"For what?"
"The moment I scream in pain Lisa will put me on drugs and I don't want any drugs. I want to push my baby out of me with my own strength and she won't let it happen. You can prevent that."
"What?" Irene looked at her friend ridiculously. "What am I supposed to do? What do you expect me to do?"
"I don't know," She shrugged. "Argue with her, fight with her I don't care how just don't let her put meds on me."
"You're crazy." She shook her head, laughing out loud.
"You don't understand, Unnie." Jennie spoke seriously. "I'm going to bear him for more than nine months. We've lost our minds to get him here in my womb. We will protect him inside me and now this is my moment -- our moment. Lisa loves me too much she won't be able to look at me in unimaginable pain. But I don't want to give in and let Sana opens my stomach and pulls my baby up. I want to fight for him till the last breath I have. Drugs won't do all the sacrifice, efforts and pray we've made, Unnie. Lisa won't understand that but you do, so please?"
Irene was speechless. She took a deep breath, holding back her tears. She wasn't the one with a baby inside her but she could feel the fear and excitement her friend experienced.
"Okay, I'll be there, Jen. Don't worry." Irene pulled Jennie in a tight hug.
"You're going to see me poop on the table tough." She made a cute pout.
"Yeah, and I can't un-see it," Irene laughed. "I'll still love you no matter what. You're amazing, you know that? I'm very proud of you. It must be really scary."
"I have awesome people around me, it helps a lot."
"I'm glad you're doing this with Lisa." They continued the walk.
"I won't ever ask for someone else."
