Adonis's POV
I had left home later than usual this morning because I was having brunch with Lily's parents and her brother to ask for their approval to propose to Lily. Lily had been at photoshoots all week so she was tored and still sleeping even though it was eleven. She had been working hard and she was so happy that from Friday till after Christmas she was completely free of work. She had told me last night that all she had to do was some Instagram post advertisements.
I was proposing tonight when she thought we were just having a date. The idea was the proposal then a celebration with her closest friends even though they had been a strain lately I know she would want them to be there. If they caused a problem Kiara and Kieran were coming too so I'm confident she will have Kiara to celebrate with and I know she will make sure that Lily has an amazing night. I was going to warn the people invited to try and avoid any drama.
I had gotten Kiara to design Lily's dream house, she had even provided the construction team, ground tean and done the interior designing since her company did that. Lily had told Kiara every single thing that she wanted and how she wanted it and Kiara said she had managed to produce her dream and added a few extras just because it was Lily. All I had to do was go and take a look once in awhile, we had been secretly building the house since we met at the bake sale but she had no idea I was proposing she just thought it was a surprise. Kiara had really made sure that she had the best and most efficient construction team, ground architect and team and she had done the interior design herself but she hadn't got to see the house in person yet.
There was no one who knew I was proposing today and even at the breakfast I wasn't going to tell them when I would be doing it. I had hinted to my parents that it was coming and they had been thrilled and tried to get the date out of me but I stood my ground. I really needed to tell someone so I would have someone to talk to because my nerves were absorbing me whole. I picked up my phone and found myself automatically calling Kieran. I was really happy that Kieran was more stable now because I did miss one of my best buds when he was always travelling.
He answered and it sounded like he was in a car and he said ,'Hey mate. '
I took a deep breathe and said, 'Hey man, I'm proposing tonight, don't forget dinner tonight.'
He cut in before I could play it off and he said, 'Whoa man slow down, you are proposing today?'
I took another deep breathe and said, 'I am and I'm kind of freaking out, please don't make me more nervous.'
He chuckled probably about to tease me which he did and said, 'I can't believe you're this nervous, an arrogant prick like you.'
I chuckled nervously because I was so very much nervous and I decided to make him edgy like he did for me and I said ,'Just wait until it's you and I guarantee you that's soon.'
Every time I talked about marriage to Kieran he turned nervous. I wasn't quite sure why yet but we had been talking about marriage and proposing quite a bit. I was going to find out why he tenses up when he talks about marriage but we talked about it a lot.
He chuckled and I said ,'The proposal is happening then you guys will be there to celebrate with us and yeah.'
He hummed and then excitedly said, 'Yeah thanks for having us there man on your big day and everything. Are you going to tell me how are you proposing?'
I took another deep breathe and said ,'Actually your girlfriend designed a house, Lily's dream house and it's beautiful and it's been built and designed to perfection. Kiara even did the interior designing according to what Lily had told her and I'm proposing somewhere in our garden and you guys will be in the house. When we are done we will come and we can all slcelebrate and have dinner all together.
Kieran was quiet probably contemplating why Kiara hadn't said anything and I chuckled and said ,'I can literally hear your wheels turning I swore her to secrecy, that's why she didn't tell you so you can relax and trust me when I say she wanted to tell you.'
He hummed and I continued and said ,'Anyways I have an orchestra there for dinner then I have people who will come in and set up for dinner and everything and then there is a photographer so Lily can have very high quality memories of the night.'
He hummed and said ,'I'm really proud of you Adonis and it's going to be great.'
I laughed and said, 'Is that some encouragement and emotion I hear there Kieran.'
He humned and said ,'Yes and now I know why I don't do emotions and encouragement.'
I burst out laughing even louder and I heard Kiara say ,'Kieran, shh.'
I shook my head at the irony, who would have thought Kieran would have a girlfriend because I had started to believe he wanted to be alone forever and I said ,'Well you heard the missus, I'll see you tonight. Wish me luck. Oh yes and dress semi-formal and you guys have to wear black.'
He hummed and I said ,'Okay bud, wish me luck.'
He oohed and said ,'Oh yeah you're asking for approval today?'
I nodded and said ,'Yes and I'm at the restaurant now. Later.'
He ended the call just as I was getting to the valet. I stepped out and handed the keys to valet and walked into the restaurant and I went to the maitre d who took a slight bow and said ,'Yes sir, your room for brealfast is ready and your guests aren't here yet. I nodded and I was led to the room and I took a seat he brought a menu and said ,'Would you like to order while you wait?'
I shook my head no and said 'I will order when my guests are here, thanks.'
The waiter nodded and walked out after saying ,'Yes sir.'
The door opened and I stood up as Lily's parents and brother walked in. I went and Lily's mum gave me hug and her dad gave me a handshake with a tap on the back and Kendall and I just dapped up.
They were greetings all around and I was just hoping they wouldn't really question me wanting to have brunch with them. Everyone took a seat and I was internally quaking but I was playing it cool. We all ordered and everyone seemed to not think if this as weird in anyway.
Kendall and I were talking about the businesses and he said ,'I didn't know you were friends with the highest earning under thirty in the world.'
I chuckled and said, 'Kieran and I, we've been best buds since university.'
Mr Hart cut in and said ,'You're friends with the King boy?'
I nodded and he didn't seem entertained and Kendall said ,'Dad, is not a fan of the senior Mr King.'
I nodded and Mr Hart angrily said ,'He was an arrogant prick when I met him.'
I chuckled and Mrs Hart said ,'It's been years and he is still talking about it.'
I thought about it and said ,'Kieran isn't quite like his father he is more quiet and unproblematic really. '
Mr Hart looked at me and seemed shocked about Kieran's character and said ,'Definitely not like his father. '
We all laughed at how petty Mr Hart could be and that's how the rest of brunch generally went. We were all laughing and chatting it up normally that it softened my nerves a little bit. Everyone was practically done and we were all now working on our second or third drinks.
I softly cleared my throat and said ,'I actually asked to meet up with you all for this brunch for a reason.'
I had everyone's attention now, Kendall was just curious, Mr Hart was kind of emotionless and Mr Hart was anxious. I tubbed my hands and said ,'I wanted to ask for your approval for me to propose to Lily.'
Kendall was smiling and Mrs Hart covered her mouth with her hands and she was tearing up. Her tears were making me nervous and I was kind of starting to panic and Kendall squeezed her shoulder causing her to start calming down. She took a deep breathe and said ,'Adonis honey, you didn't have to ask. I approve.'
She motioned for me to get up and we did then hugged and she pulled away and tears were running down her face. She laughed and said ,'Don't panic Adonis these are tears of joy.'
I nodded and Mr Hart chuckled stood up and said, 'Welcome to the family boy.'
He patted me on the back and he was now hugging his wife. Kendall came and dapped me up and said ,'As long as my baby sister is happy Hamilton.'
I nodded and Mrs Hamilton said,'So when are you proposing? '
I chuckled and said ,'That would be a secret.'
She pouted and said ,'Come on, even a small hint I would appreciate. '
I chuckled and Mr Hart just shook his head and started leading Mrs Hart away. Kendall looked at me and I said ,'I need you and your wife to keep tonight open. '
He looked at me skeptically and said ,'Okay, I assume I'll get details later.'
I nodded the he said ,'Okay cool, I'll let her know.'
We dapped up and he left as well and soon as he walked out the door relief ran through me but I still had knots in my chest because this was a fraction of everything I needed to go right today. The team was already setting up our backyard for the proposal and the food was being worked on.
Now for the ring, my grandmother had left me with her ring that she got from grandfather so I could give it to my wife. Coincidentally when we were kids my grandmother she loved Lily and so this could not be more perfect. I had taken the ring to our family jeweller and I had bought a new diamond that he could use with the pearl from my grandmother's ring. The ring was getting a new silver band and a blue moon diamond was being added to the design. My grandmother had a pearl ring and so the pearl was being taken from the ring and being used on the ring I was using to propose to Lily.
I got to the store and I saw Mr Jones our family jeweller and he started closing his store. I walked in and he said ,'Hello son.'
Mr Jones is a very well known jeweller who back in the day before he retired made jewellery for a lot of big families, he even made jewellery for royals, he is a big deal. Now that he is retired he owns a jewellery store and I think his daughter now makes jewellery and it's their family business. When I told Mr Jones I was proposing he offered to step out of retirement and make the ring since he was the one who made my grandmother's ring so he wanted to be the one to make it.
I smiled and said ,'Mr Jones you didn't have to close the store.'
He waved a hand at me shaking his head and said ,'Oh it's nothing, I wanted to close anyway. How are you feeling about tonight?'
I rubbed my hands together and said, 'I'm just about shitting my pants.'
He chuckled and motioned for me to take a seat and I did. One of the store attendants set up the station so I could see the ring and he could show me everything he had done. He came and took a seat and placed a safety deposit box on the station and he said ,'Do you want to talk about why you're so nervous?'
I leant back into my seat and I said ,'I just really want everything to go perfectly.'
He nodded then said ,'I hear you but you can't control everything. All you need is for her to say yes and I have the perfect first step to that.'
He opened the safety deposit box and we chuckled while he said ,'Made by me, a retired man.'
He handed a leather jewellery box to me and I opened it and saw a black velvet ring box inside. I stared at it and said ,'It's time to find out if you are still good.'
I opened the ring box and I nodded in approval and said ,'This is perfect Mr Jones.'
When Mr Jones had offered to do the ring I ditched all the ideas I had and gave him complete creative freedom. He had used silver for the band and the band curled around the pearl then it was under the blue moon diamond that he had made into a diamond shape. The pearl was to the top slant to the left of the diamond shaped blue moon.
He nodded and said, 'I really do think this might be the best ring I've done.'
I looked at him and said ,'It's really good, I wouldn't doubt it. Thank you so much Mr Jones. I just know Lily is going to absolutely love this.'
I stood up and took the velvet box putting it into my pocket and dapped up Mr Jones. He smiled and said ,'Good luck son. '
I nodded and waved as I walked out of the store. I got into the car and as soon as I started the car my phone started ringing. I took my phone out of my pocket and it was Lily. I answered and she said ,'Morning baby.'
I chuckled and in a teasing tone said ,'Morning? Babe it is like three in the afternoon.'
She groaned and said ,'I know I feel very unproductive but that sleep was amazing.'
I smiled and she continued and said ,'Yeah so I'm going to work out and then get ready for our big mysterious date.'
I hummed and said ,'Sounds like a relaxing day.'
Rose hummed and said ,'Yeah maybe I should get a massage after my workout then get ready.'
I jumped in at the opportunity and said ,'How about I get my assistant to get you the masseuse and I'll call your glam team, you can just focus on your workout and I'll handle the rest.'
She sighed and softly said ,'Did I tell you I love you?'
I chuckled and said, 'I wouldn't say you told me, you more of mumbled it this morning.'
She laughed and said ,'Okay, well I do. Thanks baby.'
I nodded and said ,'Okay I'll plan it, I have to get to the office now.'
She hummed and said,'Bye, love you.'
I got to the office and set up everything for Rose. There was a dress and shoes I had bought for her, I needed to make sure she didn't wear black so now I could give it to her stylist. Everyone else was wearing black so I needed to make sure she wore a different colour. I had a few hours before it was time to pop the big question.
