Some people have a bigger fear of solitude, than they do of death.

"Please, Donghyuck?" Hayoon pouted at her boyfriend, still clutching the ticket in her free hand. Donghyuck was walking by her side, his own hand intertwined with the female's smaller one.

"Nope"

"Chicken"

"I don't care"

Hayoon scoffed at his pettiness, followed by the brief roll of her eyes. If there was one thing Donghyuck hated, it was high rides. Never in their five years had the man agreed to go on one.

"Fine, I'll go find some other man to take me, because you're too much of a loser" Hayoon looked up, hoping for a response from her boyfriend. However, he simply smiled, and kept walking next to her.

"Okay, Hayoon." She huffed, clear frustration visible in her expression. Donghyuck chuckled at his girlfriend's expression and shook his head. The female loosened her grip from the man's hand before running towards the rollercoaster as if she was just a child.

She went and stood in the line, and watched as Donghyuck walked away towards a nearby bench. She started at him -his focused gaze on the ride, wondering what he was thinking so deeply about.

Just as he was once lost in thought, Hayoon found herself in the same state. Donghyuck turned his head towards his girlfriend, grinning when he saw her already watching him.

He mouthed an "I love you" to Hayoon, watching for her reaction intently. She simply turned away, trying to desperately hide her tinted cheeks. Which allowed the boy to chuckle from satisfaction, oblivious to the silent reply she had hummed to herself.

🔸

Maybe it had taken an hour, or so? Donghyuck couldn't tell, it had all gone by so quickly. Soon his girlfriend was off of the ride. A large smile on her face, as she waved to her boyfriend excitedly.

She began to walk forward eagerly, her eyes still locked on the boy.

If only he were closer.

A piercing scream cut through, followed by the sound of more screaming. Hayoon turned around to see the horror, which was blocked from her boyfriend's view. A masked man, holding a child at gunpoint. His eyes carried the gaze of evil.

She glanced back at Donghyuck who was still waiting for her on the other side, confused as to why she had suddenly stopped.

"I'm sorry"

She charged towards the shooter with full force, recognizing that she was walking towards death. He noticed the sharp object in her hand, but it was too late for either of them. She stabbed the man giving the child enough time to escape, and he shot her dead.

As for Donghyuck, he had chased after the girl a little too late. She was already dead, red plasma emptying uncontrollably from her wound and lips.

He stared, motionless, and void of emotion. It wasn't real; it was all just a dream. The girl that changed his life was alive.

But she wasn't.

He stared silently, a single tear falling from his eyes before it finally hit him.

Hayoon is gone.

People began to gather around, a person finally calling the police to report the attack. Donghyuck was still silent, he felt numb- never in his life had he felt this way. How could the girl he was just laughing with now lay lifelessly?
