We all got our shoes on and coats and Mom grabbed her keys that were hanging on a hook in the kitchen. After she noticed what Hannah was wearing, she asked,
"Aren't you going to get cold?" Her light jacket still wouldn't ever give her any warmth out in the cold weather. Hannah only shrugged. Mother then lead us through the front door and into the car which was parked outside. There was frozen ice and frost all over the windows and mirrors. Mom handed me her keys and asked me to warm up the car and she got the scraper.
Hannah and I hopped into the car. I got in the front seat as she sat in the back. With the keys in my hand, I turned on the car by just pushing a button where you would normally insert the key. Since I'm not so good with cars, I did not know what kind the car my mom owned was. All I knew is that it was white, had black leather seats, (which you could warm the temperature up just by a push of a button) and some other things that you could activate by voice commands.
Later, Mom came back with the scraper and shaved off the ice and frost on the front window, side windows, back, and the mirrors. This didn't take long so I wasn't able to sit in the front seat for very long. Now, being 16, I am actually old enough to get a driver's license, but that costs money, so, I was just going to wait to drive until my next birthday.
I hopped in the back next to Hannah. The car was already warm and we were heading off to the theatre.
Once we arrived, my friend and I thanked my mom and Hannah told her when we would be back.
"We might want to go somewhere for lunch after the movie so we'll be home a little later." Hannah said. I looked at her for a while. She never told me about that plan, but I liked the idea so I went with it.
"Okay then girls. Ruby, take some money for later and be home in time for me to drive you to the train station." Mom called from the car. Her window was rolled down as cold air give her the chills. She handed me some money and added,
"Stay warm." Once again, we thanked her and she rolled her window up and drove off. I stuck the 30 dollars into my pocket and then Hannah and I turned around and faced the large theatre which was decorated by bright lights and red and yellow colors. There were ticket booths in the front and next to those were two sets of doors. Along the walls of tall building were multiple posters and advertisements of movies currently playing. Some of them looked pretty weird.
"What did you see we were watching again?" I asked as Hannah and I walked toward the booths.
"The Doors That Lead to Nowhere." She replied.
"Oh." We then bought our tickets and went inside. There, we also bought some buttered popcorn and soda. "What's the movie about?"
"You'll find out." We showed the ticket man our tickets and directed us to where our movie was being played. The theatre was always fun for me, and I wouldn't want to do something as fun as this without my best friend.
We sat in comfy red seats which folded in half. We were towards more the top of the room which many other people agreed that it was better to sit there rather than right in the front where who have to practically stare at the ceiling to see the screen. You then would get a horrible neck cramp which was never good.
The lights dimmed as a few other people entered the room to watch the same movie as us. A few advertisements played and then the featured presentation came onto the screen.
After the movie, we threw away our empty soda bottles and popcorn bags. The movie was amazing, colorful, musical, and full of mystery. Hannah lied about it being a horror film. It wasn't so scary, but it kept me at the edge of my seat throughout the whole thing.
