Corinna felt the gentle touch of the sunlight on her cheek. It warmed her from the cold night and also caused her to wake up. She slowly opened her eyes, letting them adjust to the light that had filled her room.

"Princess?" she heard from the other side of the door. It took her a second, but Corinna eventually sat up to reply.
"Yes?"
"May I come in?"
"Yes Lola." A second later, the door opened and an older handmaiden.
"Good morning your highness." she said. Her blonde hair was pinned up into a messy yet somehow put together bun. Corinna smiled at her maiden who she had come to love as a friend.
"Good morning. What shall we do today?" the princess asked.
"You have business in the town. If you are to be Queen one day, you must show the people you are able." Lola informed her.

Corinna jumped out of bed, her nightgown dropping to her ankles. The light blue fabric flowed against the princess's body perfectly, everything she wore tend to fit her like a glove.

A small town rested at the base of castle Corinna resided in. The planet of Altre had always been a beautiful planet, full of life. The skies always blue and the blankets always green. The townspeople we just as lively as their environment. There was always peace on Altre, peace and happiness.

Corinna walked along the stone path towards the town. She looked up at the bright blue sky, not a cloud in sight. A few birds chirped here and there, making music as she walked through the town. It was buzzing with people who were getting an early start on their day. People chatted and laughed while others starting setting out things to sell like clothing and baked goods. Corinna stopped at a stand outside of a bakery. The man who owned it, Samral, was good friends with the King and Queen. He used to bake cakes for Corinna on her birthday every year.
"Your highness! How lovely to see you, it's been awhile." Samral chirped the second he saw Corinna.
"Good morning Sam. I apologize for being absent for a few days."

Corinna glanced at the goods Samral had set out for the morning. Her eyes wondered to the loaf of bread that appeared to have different spices mixed into it. The steam was still rising from the bread, making Corinna's  mouth water.
"I'll take two loafs please." she asked.

Samral quickly placed them into some fabric and then into a hand-weaved basket.
"Free for you princess." handing the basket to Corinna. She quickly shook her head, not taking the basket.
"No, I'll pay for everything I get. You worked hard on these, I want to show my appreciation for it." she insisted.

Samral kindly smiled as he knew the princess was stubborn and would never leave without paying for the bread.
"Alright your highness." Corinna handed some credits to the baker before taking the basket and continuing on her way.

The princess waved hello to her townspeople who had come to know her well. She wanted them to know that she was there for them all, a friend to each and every one of them.
"Princess Corinna! I picked this flower for you from my garden." she heard a small voice call from behind her. Corinna turned gracefully and smiled at the little blonde girl.
"What a beautiful flower!" she exclaimed as she took the pink amaryllis from the girl.
"It's just as beautiful as you are." Corinna told the girl.
She smiled from ear to ear before running back to her mother who was only a few feet away. "Thank you!" Corinna called out, tucking the flower into the basket with the bread.

She had wondered through the village until she reached the fountain that rested in the middle of the town. It was surrounded by buildings and shops, it was considered more of a community center where everyone liked the gather. Corinna watched the clear water trickle from the fountain as children played around it. She closed her eyes and inhaled deeply. The slight breeze grazed her face, cooling her from the hot summer day. Birds continued to chirp but the sound was mixed in with the sound of chatter and laughter of her people.
