Fierce Fight..... The contest between a Camel Spider and a Scorpion is closely matched because the Camel Spider is armed with huge jaws while the Scorpion defends itself with its powerful stinger. If a Camel Spider were struck y the Scorpion's stinger it would die within a few minutes, but in practice the Camel Spider usually wins. Like all arachnids camel spiders have four pairs of walking legs.

Desert Locusts .........................................................Desert and migratory locusts live in the drylands of Africa throughout Asia. There is a swarming form of locusts, shown here, and a solitary form which has more muted colors and lives on its own like an ordinary grasshopper. The swarming form appears after several seasons of good rains. When the young (called hoppers), because they can not fly) hatch from the eggs in the soil, they group together. Once they are adults, they fly and spread to areas with plenty of plants to devour. Locusts are controlled by spraying with pesticides, but swarms recur because ot is not possible to find and kill all the solitary forms.
