Insects and Other Arachnids
Winged insects such as locusts, are able to fly to new places to find food and to breed. Swarming locusts are nomads, flying from place to place to find enough plants to eat. Some insects, such as moths, lay their eggs on the food do not need to move far to find food. Scorpions and their relatives, the camel spiders and whip scorpions, are all arachnids - a group that includes true spiders and mites. Arachnids do not have wings, but some such as the Camel Spider can run very fast.

Sahara Scorpion
A Scorpion stings only if it is cornered or stepped on accidentally. The sting of this 2.8 in (7 cm) scorpion is strong enough to kill a person. Scorpions also use their stingers to kill prey, which include insects and spiders. They get enough moisture from their prey and so do not need to drink. During the day they hide in burrows or, like this species, under rocks.
