You're the welcoming wind from a long day in the heat,
The blue ocean I freely go to when it's hard to find relief.
The sunshine that warms me when it's so cold that I freeze,
The peaceful music I listen to when I just can't fall asleep.
You're everything and more and very hard to replace,
Seeing you smile so wide, it would make my entire day.
But something tugs at me, and I turn my gaze away,
You're too wonderful, too perfect for me to chase.
So I made up my mind, not to play this boring game,
If God willing you're mine, I won't chase, it'll be the other way.
Right guy, right day, all in our God's timeframe,
If you're not for me, I'll hurt but it will be okay.
I don't know about romantic love, except for what I watch on tv;
I only know I love the qualities you have, your very soul.. it's just so lovely.
But I'll hold on to my heart for the time being,
To fall for you completely.. no I am just not yet ready.
So I'll say goodbye to my hopes of yesterday,
And instead I'll walk forward and embrace my reality.
I will always cherish you as my friend for eternity,
Until God tells us otherwise, let's go, create change, fulfill our separate destinies.
