Aaron stayed all night with me in the hospital without letting go of my hand for a second. He wants me to know that I'm not alone, he's here with me in this and I really appreciate it. I take my hand out of his grip and he wakes up. "Good morning" I say rubbing his cheek
"Good morning" he says trying to wake up
"Go home" I say
"Not without you" he says and kisses my hand
"I'm gonna be here for a couple more days. You go home and see Jack. I'm sure that he missed you and especially now, you miss him too. Go. Have a shower and get some normal rest. No offense but you look like crap" I say and he chuckles
"I don't want to leave you alone" he says
"I know. But I'm sure that Penelope will be here in a few minutes" I say and I show him the text that I got from her a about an hour ago asking me if it's ok to come.
"Actually I am already here" I hear her voice and I look at the open door. "Good morning" she says standing there a bit awkwardly
"Come in" I say and she does. "Go. I'll be fine" I say to Aaron.
"Ok" he says and pecks my lips. "Garcia, don't leave her side" he says
"Yes sir" she says
"No, she doesn't need to" I say
"It's ok. Actually, that's why I brought my laptop here. If there is a case today, I can work from here" she says
"Good" he says and I shake my head. "I love you" he says and kisses me again
"I love you too" I say
"I'll be back as soon as I can" he says
"Bye Aaron" I say and he leaves.
Penelope sits down next to me "How are you feeling?" she asks
"Good but that's probably because of those strong painkillers" I say and she chuckles
"So who told you?" I ask
"Derek did. He found out from Emily, Emily found out from JJ, JJ found out from Spencer. And also Rossi found out from Hotch" she says and I nod
"Wow. Information travels fast" I say
"Yes. They wanted to come but we thought that it would be too much for now" she says
"It would" I say
"That's why we decided to get you something. It's from all of us" she says pulling out a blue velvet jewelry box from her bag
"You didn't have to" I say. She gives it to me and I open it. It was a beautiful rose gold necklace with a small angel wing.
"For the little angel" she says
"It's amazing. Thank you" I say and I hug her.
"Can you call them?" I ask
"Of course" she says "Audio or video?" she asks
"You know what? Screw it. Let's do video" I say smiling. She smiles and opens her laptop.
"Hey, PG. How did it go?" I hear Emily's voice
"Get your laptop and everyone else in the conference room" Penelope says
"Ok, give me a minute" Emily says.
She turns on the camera when they were all in the conference room. "Ok, we're here" she says
"Someone wanted to say hi" Penelope says and points the laptop to me
"Hi guys" I say as I see everyone
"Hi!" I hear many voices say surprised causing me to tear up.
"I wanted to thank you for the beautiful gift. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you" I say
"You don't need to thank us kiddo. How are you?" Rossi asks
"Honestly, I am little bit high on painkillers right" I say and they chuckle
"Is Hotch there?" Morgan asks
"No, I sent him home" I say.
"When are you going home?" Emily asks
"In 2 to 3 days but recovery will take longer. Then bed rest and some therapy. And also I'll have to negotiate with the chief on when I'll be back to work which I already miss" I say
"Can't you consult over the phone?" Emily asks
"On illegal bases, yes. But on legal bases, I'll have to get my psych evaluation first" I say
"Got it" she says.
A notification pops up on the laptop's screen. "We've got a case" Penelope says
"Get well soon Jess" JJ says
"Thank you" I say
"Also..." Spencer says and gets closer "In many cases when a person has only one fallopian tube they are still able to get pregnant from an egg at the opposite ovary as an egg from one ovary can travel down the tube on the other side. In fact 85% of women who are at optimal pregnancy age and who only have one tube conceive a baby within two years of trying consistently even after an ectopic pregnancy" he almost whispers
"Thank you Spence. For everything" I say
"No problem" he says.
About an hour later Penelope left when Aaron came back but this time with Jack. He immediately came to me and with Aaron's help he hugged me gently not to hurt me. My eyes got watery again. "I love you buddy" I say holding him
"I love you too Jessie" he says and I try to blink away the tears unsuccessfully. He sat next to me on the bed and Aaron sat on the chair.
"I have an idea" I say and I look at both of them "Since you won't let me stay alone at my place for a second when you are not working..." I say looking at Aaron "How about Jack stays with us and let aunt Jessica get some months to herself?" I ask
"Yes!" Jack says
"Are you sure you can handle it while I'm gone? You need rest" Aaron says
"I think we'll do fine. Since of course Strauss gave you 10 days off" I say
"Who told you that?" he asks
"Guess who?" I ask
"Penelope" he says
"Exactly" I say. "In those 10 days I'll do my best to get rest and then if I get tired when you leave, I'll let you know. I don't want you to stay away from Jack in order to take care of me and I could use some company" I say
"Please dad. I will help too" Jack says
"Ok, fine" he says
"Yes!" Jack says excited.
Later that day, Jack fell asleep on the small couch that was in the room. "He is so cute when he is sleeping" I say looking at him and Aaron smiles.
"You know that we need to talk about me coming back to work at some point, right?" I say
"Well, I recommend you sit for 3 months and get fully healed as the doctor said" he says
"No, 3 months is too much. The doctor said that I can go back to work in 2 months" I say
"Ok, let's make a deal" he says
"A deal? Am I an unsub now?" I ask ironically
"Do you want to hear it or not?" he asks
"Yes, go ahead" I say
"The doctor said that if you do not walk too much, not lift weights, not run or work out too much for 4 to 6 weeks, he will probably clear you for work in 2 months, right?" he asks
"Yes" I say
"So if you pass your psych evaluation after the 2 months off, you will come to work but you won't be on the field for a month. Just to be sure that you are fully healed" he suggests.
"Is that a suggestion or an order?" I ask and he smiles
"No, it's a very... tempered suggestion" he says and I chuckle
"Yeah, right" I say ironically "Ok. 2 months home and 1 month off the field sound good. But you can't be the one who will do my psych evaluation like you did when Emily hypothetically died. I know you and I know that you want to be sure that I'm ok but you're involved in this too. Let whoever you want to do this, even Strauss if you want, I'm ok with it. Just not you" I say
"Ok. I'll let Strauss know tomorrow and she'll assign you to someone" he says
"Thank you" I say and I kiss him.
