A quirk filled society such as this was always filled with prejudice. Growing up, he learned that not all men were created equal. Those with powerful, flashy quirks were regarded as heroes, while those with powerful, terrifying quirks were regarded as villains. People with smaller quirks that didn't do much were regarded as civilians. People without quirks were regarded as less than human.
"-nata."
And this society was awful for thinking that some people were worth less than others.
"Mister Hinata."
If only there was a way to-
"Shoyo Hinata!"
"Yes!"
Shoyo Hinata, age fourteen, around the age to graduate middle school and go on to high school. His quirk: Crow's Wings. He shot his head up off of the desk in front of him, seeing a large puddle of drool all over his finals. He lazily looked up at a frowning face above him.
"Mister Hinata, have you finished your test?" his teacher demanded.
Hinata looked from the grumpy face, to his soiled test, back to the grumpy face. He grinned nervously, almost looking pained.
"Y-yes, sir," he shakily said, pushing the soaked paper off the desk.
The teacher made a move to retrieve it. Grabbing the only dry corner of the paper, he tried to sidle it in with the rest of the tests. It was futile, however. The wet part of the test tore off, making a large splat sound around the room. Half of the students broke out in hysterical laughter. The other half either groaned or pretended to gag.
The teacher sighed. "Mister Hinata." He slammed the rest of the tests on another student's desk, silencing the rest of the class. This made Hinata straighten his curved and tired back. "If you can't finish one measly English final, then you will never make it as a hero." A student next to him snickered. "Got it?" he finished, shooting a glare at the other students.
"Yes, sir," Hinata repeated, shaking.
"Now, as I know all of you are aware," the teacher continued, picking the stack of tests up from the student's desk, "you need to score a fifty or higher on the hundred point entrance exam if you want to get into UA. That said." He slammed the tests on his own desk. "If you don't pass any of your finals, like Mister Hinata here, you won't even graduate." He stared daggers at Hinata. "So I suggest you get studying. Is that clear?"
Hinata gulped. "C-crystal, sir!"
"Good." The teacher finished up just as the bell rang. "Now, I want your end of the year essays done and on my desk by the end of next class! And Mister Hinata," he announced to the shaking redhead, "meet me after everyone leaves."

The teacher sighed, putting his glasses on his desk. "You realize I don't want you to fail, right?"
"I know, sir."
"Mister Hinata, please look at me." Hinata kept his eyes focused on the tests. Sighing again, the teacher continued. "Hinata, I know you're smart. Classwork and homework wise, you're nearly the top of the class. And the small quirk assessments we do, you shine. But for some reason," he said, tapping the tests, "you can't do a test to save your own life."
Hinata bit his lip. "Sorry, sir."
"What I'm wondering is if you study," his teacher asked. "And I don't just mean doing the homework, I mean if you actively study."
Hinata shuffled his feet. "I do study sometimes, at friends' houses."
His teacher looked at him with pity. "Is everything alright at home?" Hinata nodded, although it didn't seem the most sincere. "Hinata, I can't help if you don't tell me. Here." He handed the redhead a slip of paper. "I'll let you retake the test tomorrow if you stay awake during school."
Hinata nodded again. "Thank you, sir."
A/N: Thank you for reading this first chapter! I worked for about three months on this, and I've wanted to share it ever since I started it, so I thought that starting on WattPad might be a bit better than other sites. Also, I'll include some concept art later on. Thanks again, guys!
