You can count on me like 1, 2, 3, And I'll be there,
When Anakin and Rex came back to the training room, I had just finished talking with Obi-Wan and Cody. I'll be honest, I totally ship them. I mean, who doesn't?! They are meant for one another. Psst, Kenobi, just kiss him already.
"Hey, we got a room for you. Rex will escort you there." Anakin said. I looked to Rex, hoping he was okay with it, but I couldn't tell with his helmet on. "Um, thank you, Anakin. Really, I appreciate it."
"Of course." Was all he said before Rex and I left the training room and walked down a hallway where not many clones had traveled down. It was an awkward silence between Rex and I, and I was the first to break it. "So, Rex...who is the boy Obi-Wan was talking about?" I asked.
"I..can't say. Its not for me to tell." Rex said, keeping his attention ahead of him. "Not for you tell or its none of my business?" I asked a bit harshly. Rex didn't answer and I looked away. We didn't say anything else because I was irritated, but when we got to the room, I quietly thanked him and walked solemnly into the room.
"I'll..um..bring you some blacks to change into. If that's okay.." Rex mumbled, myself nodding and sitting down on the twin size bed against the wall. I looked up from my feet, seeing Rex still standing at the doorway. "What?"
"I..meant no offense before..like I said, its not my place to talk about something like that." Rex explained while I looked away. "Well, whoever it is, I'm not like him. You can trust me. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but you can."
"I hope so." He replied, about to walk out of the room. "You know, to be honest with you..you're not bad at all, kid. You seem really cool." I smiled slightly, knowing that we were starting off on the right foot and as soon as he walked out and the doors closed, I sighed loudly, flopping onto the bed.
"God..I don't know what sign you gave me back home, I appreciate it alot." I mumbled, flinging my legs up on the bed and falling asleep. ---
"So, how did it go with Kayla?" Anakin asked, seeing Rex carrying a set of blacks in his arm. "You can say it..went well." Rex stammered, raising an eyebrow at his General.
"Well, when you get finished, Obi-Wan needs us on the bridge, so..take your time." Anakin joked, Rex shaking his head, sighing. "Sir, I just met the girl. That's highly inappropriate."
"Whatever you say, Rex.." Anakin laughed out, walking away. Rex shook his head once more and walked back towards the room where Kayla was staying.
"Hey, kid. I got your blacks." Rex said while knocking on the door. When he didn't get an answer, he knocked again a little louder. "Kid?"
He punched in the code to the room, the doors opening quickly and he relaxed a bit seeing the girl sleep on the bed, snoring quietly. "You must've been really tired, huh?" He muttered, setting the clothes on a chair nearby.
He watched her a second, admiring at how peacefully she slept. How could someone sleep so peacefully at a time like this? Maybe it was because she hasn't gone through the hardship yet, maybe that's just how she looks when she sleeps. He wasn't sure. But he shook the thought out of his head, walking out of the room, letting Kayla sleep the night. ----
"The Force shows you many things. Something delicate, something dark, or something extraordinary. Tell me, Kayla, what do you see?" Obi-Wan asked, watching as the girl furrowed her eyebrows slightly. "I see..a Wolf. A sliver Wolf. Its running, running across a field. A meadow, actually. With a...bear, I think? Its not attacking it, it looks rather happy. So does the bear."
"That is your courage and your strength working together, Kayla. The Force allows you to control it, so it doesn't outweigh your thoughts and feelings." Obi-Wan explained, Kayla nodding and continuing to see images.
"I see a fire. Its covering the ice, but the ice isn't melting. The fire is still spreading across it, but its like the ice is rock, its not burning away." Kayla said, Obi-Wan stroking his beard. "Interesting. Fire is your desire and the ice is your tranquility. If the fire is covering the ice yet it doesn't melt, then that would mean that you are remaining calm even when you desire to do more."
"Hmm..that is interesting, Obi-Wan." Kayla replied, nodding in agreement. "Alright. Now, you can open your eyes, Kayla." Obi-Wan finally said, Kayla opening her eyes, squinting them a bit as they adjusted to the light. "You did well. Many Padawans have struggled along the way to feel a connection with the Force. And one of the very few who's gotten farther in the process in one day."
"Thank you. I hope to continue and do better if I'm not already." Kayla assured, smiling at him. "You have already done well enough. I'll give a break. I must consult with the Jedi Council and will contact you when I'm finished."
Kayla nodded once, walking out of the training room and heading towards her room. But not before stopping at the mess hall, which she came to earlier for breakfast. As the door opened, she greeted a couple of troopers that were leaving, and them doing the same, waving to her as she entered. This was exactly like she dreamed. Getting to know the clones, being so cool with the clones that they won't have to formally greet her, they could greet her anyway they want.
But she knew it's only been a day. It was going to take time. She spotted Rex and Cody near one of vending stations and she went to greet them since she didn't see them earlier at breakfast.
"Hi, guys." She greeted shyly, approaching them and waving slightly. "Hey, kid. How's training going?"
"Its pretty good. Making good progress, actually. I'm just taking a break. Thought I'd stop by here." She explained, looking to the two commanding officers. "Anyway, I didn't see you guys at breakfast."
"Yeah. We had a debriefing, nothing serious." Rex replied, Kayla nodding. She heard her stomach grumble and she groaned slightly at the feeling. "Um..I'm gonna go grab some food. I'm really hungry."
"Oh-kay..just don't get sick if the food is disgusting to you." Cody said, a nervous look on his face when he did. Kayla rolled her eyes when Rex snickered quietly and walked away to get food.
