Chapter 7 | The Investigation of Sayaka Maizono

    "Anyone who raises their hand to a woman is scum that deserves death. That's what my brother taught me. So if I ever find the son of a bitch that did this, I'm gonna pound his goddamn face in." Mondo explained.

"B-But...what if it was a girl that did it?" Makoto asked.

Mondo stayed silent for a couple seconds before replying. "That'll all get sorted out when the time comes."

    "Sakura...do you think I'm guilty, too?" Makoto asked the girl.

"I try not to make assumptions like that. I simply don't know wether or not you did this." She replied.

"Saki said that too..." Makoto mumbled.

"Whatever decision the rest of you come up with, I will follow your lead." Sakura explained.

"I see..." Makoto trailed off.

    "Hey, Kyoko..." Makoto quietly called the girl's name while she was investigating the area but...

"What are you doing...?" I asked as I came and stood beside Makoto.

"Isn't it obvious?" She asked.

"N-No, not really..." Makoto replied.

"I'm searching." She told us.

"Searching...?" Me and Makoto said in unison.

Kyoko was down on her knees, carefully inspecting every inch of Makoto's room.

"Did you lose a contact or something?" Makoto asked, but he received no reply.

I had no idea what she was doing, but she seemed to be working really hard on it. A few seconds later she stood up and said:

"Are you a clean freak?"

"Huh? N-No, I don't think so. But what...?" Makoto replied.

Kyoko nodded and glanced around the room one more time.

    "Interesting..." She trailed off.

"What's interesting?" I ask.

"Just as I suspected, there's something [very unusual] about your room, Makoto." She explained.

"Unusual? What do you mean?" Makoto asked.

"I've searched your floor from one corner to another...and I didn't find one single strand of hair." Kyoko replied.

"Really...?" Makoto asked.

    "Not one hair from the victim, and not one hair from you, even though you've been living in here." Kyoko told us.

"You know, now that you mention it...I noticed something while I was looking around earlier. The lint roller in Makoto's room seemed very clean, and when I asked him about it he said that it looked cleaner then the last time he saw it. Right, Makoto?" I turned to the boy and he nodded.

    "Very interesting... Makoto's room didn't have a single hair in it, and someone used Makoto's lint roller without his knowledge. In other words...someone other than you came in and scrubbed your room clean." Kyoko said.
