MAX'S POV
Tomorrow is the Qualifying Round. Me and the guys are ready as we'll ever be. We decided that I'll be the one doing the tricks again. They said it was for the better.
" Yo Dude Check this out" Says Pj showing me a trick
"Awesome Man" I respond looking at his flip.
"We are totally gonna Kick everyone's Boot-Aysss" says Bobby
"Hi guys" we hear (B/F/N) from behind us
"Ladiesss" we hear Bobby say
They walk up to us and I see (Y/N) quickly run up the ramp with her skateboard.
"Max, I need to show you something! " she screams from the top of the ramp.
I give her a nod so she knows I'm looking.
She starts going side by side and before I realize it she's doing the hand stand she couldn't do a couple days ago. She finishes smoothly without even slipping.
"(Y/N) that way amazing" I tell her
"thanks, couldn't have done it without you" she says and puts her hand up as we high five
~the next day~
(Y/N) POV
Today is the Qualifying Round. me and (B/F/N) were putting on our uniform in our room before meeting up with the guys.
"Gosh, we are totally gonna crush this" She says
"okay, lets not get our hopes so high, we don't want to get ahead of ourselves" I say
she looks at me with a smirk for a second
"but we are totally gonna crush this!" I say as I laugh
"I knoww!" she screams
~small time skip~
We meet up with the guys as we're heading to the ramps of the competition. It's huge! it looks amazing. We're all walking looking around, getting slight nostalgia from last year.
Suddenly some kid we don't know and his friends come up to us saying
"good luck team 99... you'll need it haha" he says while they laugh as they leave
"thanks.." says max waiting for them to disappear
"what was that about?" he adds
"well... there might be something I might have forgot to tell you.." says Pj
"Peej..." says max
this might not be a great time to tell you but... word around campus, there's a new team called the jaguars which I've heard is really good... " he says
"oh.. just that? HAH, we don't have to worry about that, no one is gonna dethrone us guys, we are gonna win this" Max says
" I don't know max.. we shouldn't get our hopes TOO high.. we haven't seen them yet"
"don't worry (Y/N), we'll be fine" he says clipping on his helmet.
As we're climbing up the stairs to the top of the ramp we see the Jaguars. They had a black, yellow and orange uniform. Thet were 4 guys, two tall ones, one weirdly petite and one more on the heavier side.
We see a bunch of people holding up signs saying 'I ❤️ max', 'go max' or 'go team 99'. it was quite incredible
"Welcome everyone to this year's X games qualifying round!" we hear the announcer say on the screens everywhere.
"Today we will see competing on one side, last year's winners TEAM 99!" he says as everyone screams
"And on the other a NEW team THE JAGUARS!" and some more people scream.
"get ready to get your butt kicked" we hear one of the members of the jaguars say to us.
"In your dreams New kid" Max responds
"Competing first we have Max goof from team 99!" Says the announcer
Max grabs his board and gets ready.
"good luck Max!" I say to him before he starts
And before you know it he's off. He was doing a bunch of tricks, flips and jumps. God he's amazing. He went on for about a minute without even tripping. He ended With a double flip in the air and a handstand in the end.
The scores were 8,7,8,6 and 5 from Germany. God why does it always have to be Germany.
"That was amazing Max! Great job" Says Pj giving him a high five.
"Yeah max, you totally crushed it. You were awesome" I congragulate him.
"thanks Guys, it was okay I guess, but not good enough" he responds
"but max you did it perfectly" says (B/F/N)
"No it wasn't, I almost tripped completely and didn't have enough time to do another trick" says max
"But Dude we didn't even notice, It was still amazing bro" Adds Bobby
"Let's just see how well the jaguars do" says max
"And now the next teams turn. Here come The Jaguars!" says the announcer
One of the jaguars that looked like the captain started skating. He was really, really, really fast. It was unbelievable. He was doing tricks I've never seen in my life. And the worse part is that it didn't look like they were cheating. They were actually good skaters and I was starting to worry about Max. The Jaguar boy ended with this weird flip upside down.
The boy scored 7,10,9,8 and 6.
That wasn't good. I look at Max putting my hand on his shoulder.
"Max don't worry it's oka-"
"NO it's not (Y/N), We still got a lower score because of me, stop trying to be so positive all the time" Max says interrupting me as he pushes me out of his way.
I got really sad trying to push a tear away but maintained myself together watching him as he leaves. Max never talked to me like that.
"Don't worry (Y/N) the same thing happened last year he's just in a bad mood, he'll come around" tells me Pj
"okay I guess, thanks Peej" I say with a frown.
"Why such a big frown little skater girl, your boyfriend to much of a baby is to take a low score, why don't you come with us, I've seen you skate around in your little skateboard, you're not so bad, You could be perfect jaguar material. And maybe we could hit it off" Says the captain of the jaguars Winking at me!
"hey why don't you back of New kid, she's not interested, you slob, were gonna kick your butts in the finals!" Says (B/F/N) defending me. She's amazing
"wow wow, pip squeak calm down I was just trying to give your little skater girl friend a warm introduction" He responded
"I didn't need your lame introduction, I'm perfectly happy in my team and by the way for your information my I have a name! and it's (Y/N) " I tell him
"okay, okay, no need to get defensive skater girl- I mean (Y/N), Anyway if u ever change your mind you know where to find us" he says giving me another wink as they all leave.
ugh I can't believe this is happening I need a break.
