Hello everyone. I've decided to write a little story for Ryoma's Birthday as well! Keep in mind I'm not sure where some things are, and I don't have a good grasp on how everyone acts, sorry about that… ~𝓚𝓸𝓻𝓮𝓴𝓲𝔂𝓸
"Rise and Shine Ursine!" "It is now 8 AM!" The morning announcement rang out. Of course, Ryoma was already up. He had a tendency to either sleep horribly, or just wake up before the announcement. Maybe from anticipation of missing it. He wasn't certain. What he was certain of was something he didn't want to think about. They did this whole party for Kokichi, no doubt it's gonna happen for me. He thought, walking out of his dorm. Unsurprisingly, he caught Kokichi sneaking to the kitchen. Ever since his birthday he's been looking for an opportunity to use the pans again. "Not again.." Ryoma whispered to Kokichi. "Awww why? They need to wake up for your special day Birthday Boy!" Kokichi said with a sort of unsettling grin. "Look, your Birthday was special. You're a leader of a huge group of what you claim to be thousands. You have a life to celebrate and be happy about." Ryoma made his way to the dining hall and opened the door. He couldn't smell anything. They didn't make me a cake.. Not sure if I should be glad or confused. Ryoma thought, wandering into the kitchen for some breakfast. Before he could find something to act as a stool, he heard something.. "Mew" "Huh?" Ryoma turned around, searching for the sound. "Mew" There is no way there is a cat in this school. Ryoma traced the sound back to a cabinet in the back of the kitchen. One that wasn't a high shelf, conveniently. He opened it quickly, to reveal a Russian Blue kitten, mewing from the cabinet. ".........." Ryoma didn't know what to say. But he did know what to do. He got a chair from the tables in the dining hall and brought it into the kitchen to reach all the shelves in the fridge. There has got to be something in here this guy can eat.. He kept looking, and didn't see anything like milk or tuna anywhere! As he was looking he heard footsteps from the dining hall. What the..? Is that everyone else? He climbed down from the chair, the kitten in his arms, and he walked out to where everyone was scrambling around the dining hall setting up a banner and Kaito had a bunch of party hats. "Remember Everyone, this has to be done as quickly as possi-" Kirumi's whisper came to a stop as she saw Ryoma. "Well, looks like the cat is out of the bag." Angie cheered. "Out of the kitchen.." Himiko said quietly. "Good one Himiko!" Tenko laughed along with it. "Kaito!" Maki got his attention. "Kaito?" Kaede looked at Kaito confused. He jumped in realization. He took a smaller party hat from the bunch and put it on the kitten's head. It was blue with confetti painted on. "There you go little guy!" Kaito exclaimed. "Angie painted that for the little one." Korekiyo smiled under his mask. "Well, since the surprise is a little early.." Kirumi paused, getting down from the ladder she was on carefully, the banner was set hanging in place. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY RYOMA!" "What's going on here?" Ryoma asked, petting the kitten. "Prow" It purred in response. "Well, last night Kirumi told us all to gather in her lab, and she said your birthday was tomorrow. So we all tried to figure out what to get you." Shuichi explained. "We all know you're obsessed with the whole cat thing you've got going on, so we decided to get a cat!" Kokichi interrupted. "At first I thought I had to go invent a whole robot cat invention overnight, which I totally could," "But that was a little bit robophobic.. It didn't need to be a robot cat!" Kiibo stated. "Plus, Gonta thinks that it would be loud to build in the middle of the night." Gonta added. "Well, I could've always tried summoning a demon kitten.." "NO NOT A DEMON I LIKE MIU'S IDEA BETTER! Kaito shouted, terrified. "Yeah, the robot cat would've been the quickest way, right? Even if it's not what we chose to do." Rantaro asked, glancing at Miu. "Yeah! And I was totally going to do that but then Shuichi came up with a brilliant idea!" "Well, it wasn't very brilliant at the time, because we didn't know if it would work.." He explained. "At the time I wondered what Monokuma would say about it, so we got his attention. "And I asked him what we could do on the idea of a cat!" Tsumugi said happily. "He told us that he had a real Russian Blue cat.. I was skeptical, and to make it worse, his price was ridiculous." Maki pouted. "He charged 1500 Mono-coins for the kitten! Which is reasonable for a living thing, but we definitely didn't have enough." Kaito said in a panicked tone. "It was such a pain.." Himiko sighed. "But we hatched a plan!" "Yup! We all ran around the school searching everywhere we could. Some of us even left our labs unlocked so others could search in case we missed something!" Tenko and Kaede stated. "And as genius as it was already, we had to do it while you were sleeping! So I had the idea of running to the dorms pretending to try to wake everyone up when the morning announcement played! Neeheehee, aren't I so smart!" Kokichi said, obviously proud of himself. "And before the announcement, we knew you would come into the dining hall and we would decorate, so I painted party hats!" Angie explained with a smile. "It was my idea to keep you preoccupied with hiding the kitten in a cabinet you could reach and taking away all of its potential food, so we could decorate before you came out of the kitchen." Korekiyo rested his head on his hand, pleased with himself. "None of you guys slept last night, did you?" Ryoma sighed. "Not a wink!" Miu laughed. "I kept falling asleep, but Tenko and Angie helped me stay awake sometimes.." Himiko explained tiredly. "We all looked around for Mono-coins for your Russian Blue!" Kaede grinned. "Everyone deserves a great gift on their birthday!" "And you deserve a new friend who can be there when you need him." Kirumi smiled softly. "What are you gonna name the little guy?" Kaito smirked, giving Ryoma a thumbs up. After a few moments Ryoma decided. "I think I'm gonna call him Aibō." Ryoma held up his new partner in front of him. "Mew" Aibō licked his nose. Ryoma chuckled a bit. "You guys really didn't need to save up all those Mono-coins for me.." Ryoma's smile faded and he looked up at them all seriously. "Please, don't say that. You know you already love Aibō, and we do too." Kirumi explained worriedly. "Where did Monokuma even get a Russian Blue? Coincidentally my favorite cat breed?" Ryoma asked as he removed Aibō's hat to stroke his head. "I have no idea.. That's a good question.." Kiibo said nervously. "We probably shouldn't worry about the details.. A lot of what that bear does doesn't make sense.." Rantaro stated. Ryoma looked at his new kitten. "Where's the food?" He asked. "Oh it's in a cabinet you couldn't reach." Korekiyo disappeared into the kitchen and soon came back out with a can of chicken. Ryoma accepted it and put Aibō on the table, opening the can and placing it in front of the kitten. Aibō happily ate his chicken, and Ryoma was content with watching. "Ryoma." Kirumi tapped his shoulder and he turned around to see a cupcake with cat ears on it. "They aren't candles, but.." "Heh, thanks Kirumi." Ryoma accepted the cupcake. Well, it's not cake, and I'm just fine with that. Ryoma enjoyed his cupcake while Aibō enjoyed his canned chicken, and even when the others talked behind them, they shared a moment of peace together, bonding in their own little moment.
