January 17, 1941

Its a brisk Friday afternoon; Im leaving work in Manhattan to go back over to Queens. As I'm rushing through Grand Central looking for my change in my bag, I walk straight into someone. Its next to impossible to focus with everyone's thoughts screaming. Upon our clash we both drop most of our belongings around us.

"My apologies ma'am." He says with a deep smooth voice. "I get a bit lost here sometimes." He chuckles nervously. She's gorgeous, just radiant. His inner voice says, sounding just as melodic as his outer tone.

I look up and meet his eyes that resemble an ocean. "I wasn't paying much attention either, my apologies to you..." Looking into his eyes, everything stops. For the first time in a long time, everything is quiet. I finally can't hear everyone else's thoughts stomping around, just mine and his melding peacefully. The world comes to complete halt before me.

I don't want this moment to end. I'd spend the rest of my life with her. He thinks to himself at which I feel the blush on my cheeks growing.  My heart feeling like it's going to hop right out of my chest.

We help one another sort out our belongings and by the time we're done scrambling, I hear that the train I was hoping for had just left the station. I release a heavy sigh at the distraction and he stands, then offering me his hand. I graciously accept and allow him to pull me to my feet.

He keeps my hand in his own as we continue looking into one another's eyes while wearing soft grins.

"Thank you, for your help." I smile softly. More help than he realizes, silencing everything around me.

"Thank you." He nods and squeezes my hand gently, before pecking it softly on top. "Could I make it up to you? I'll buy your train ticket..."

"No, I can't let you do that..." I shake my head.

"Please, it's the least I could do for a doll like you." He grins this massive cheeky grin. "I'm headed to Queens, what about you?"

"Queens as well." I nod.

"Have a seat doll, I'll be back." He winks and walks towards the ticket booth, after reluctantly releasing my hand.  I sit on the closest bench, examining every movement he makes.

He walks with pure pride; his head held high, he fiddles with his hands as he walks then flicks his gaze back towards me as if to ensure I'm still there. Another grin passes over his mouth when we make eye contact. He hurries to the nearest teller and women turn their heads to watch as he passes them.

I would too.

He's incredibly handsome, young, muscular and clearly kind. As he walks, I find myself looking to hear the multiple women's thoughts at once about him.  I feel myself echo their thoughts about him, being attracted to him so heavily that it's like I'm being pulled into him, heart first. I feel jealous in the way they watch him, protective almost, that I don't want to share him with anyone.

Yet I don't even know his name.

I feel as though there's a rubber band around us, giving resistance as the short distance between us grows. My heart longs for him to be within reach again and I don't even know him. Tension releasing as he comes back to me and joy lighting up between us again once he's in front of me.

"Well doll, the next available train is in a bit over an hour, what do you say we go grab a coffee?" He offers.

"Sure, that sounds great." I smile up at him. My lucky day.
