(Draco)
"Mother?" Leah said, her voice shaking. Surely she's seeing things I think, yet I can't stop myself from running toward her to see what she sees. It can't be. Surely not.
I watch as she walks by, her hair long and flowing, skin glowing and rosy. She looks like she hasn't aged one bit. Maybe I'm hallucinating, maybe wanting to believe it's her is putting this image infront of me. We lock eyes, she looks at me, confused. Her face falls and I can see her eyes water as she turns away and hurries off. "Aleigha?!" I cry, desperate for it to be her, desperate to be able to hug her one last time. But she's gone again. Maybe it really was just my mind playing tricks.
"Dad. Dad that was mum I'm sure it was. I look so much like her" Leah whispered, heartbreak in her voice. Even though she had never met her mum she would still cry over her. Anyone would cry over her loss. A woman who could light up a million towns with her smile, killed after saving the entire wizarding community. She is considered a hero, a celebrity. The one who saved us all.
I won't hurt us by believing it could have been her. I won't let Leah live in belief that her mum is out there. I saw her die. I know nothing could ever bring her back. I didn't spend countless nights crying with a time turner in my hand convincing myself it isn't worth it for her to be alive all this time.
Yet I want to. Because what if she is, what if by some small microscopic chance it was her. What if Leah can finally have her mum. What if I can have my girlfriend back? But how would i find her. The chances of me seeing her again are miniscule. Diagon Alley has become ten times more popular after the rebuild. New faces appear every day. It's best I just forget. Leah hasn't been the same all day, she seems so...upset. No matter how much I tell her it couldn't possibly have been her mother I can tell she's holding on to this hope that it was. As am I. I send her off to bed ready to leave for Hogwarts the next day, I was expect her to be energetic and sleepless yet after today's events I can tell she is overwhelmed by other thoughts.
The next morning she seems more enthusiastic, dragging her bags down the stairs smiling, not caring for every thump the bags made. I prepared her a wholesome breakfast of pancakes, syrup and French toast. I wanted to cheer her up a little before her first day. She ate it all so quickly I was surprised she didn't get hiccups. She really is her mother's daughter. Leah fills the whole her mother left partially, yet there's still a small hole left behind that no one can ever fill. I gather her bags and we head to the station.
I remember the last time I was here, Aleigha dreading having to return. Wishing we could have stayed at the manor forever. Yet we were under Voldemorts commands. I tear up at the memory, desperately wiping my eyes so Leah doesn't notice. I know she saw, I know she chose not to say anything. I wave Leah goodbye but she doesn't notice, she's too busy catching talking to the other kids. Already making friends. "Draco, can i talk to You?" Hermione murmurs pulling me away from the crowd. "What's wrong?" I ask, confused as to why she so urgently needs to speak to me. "We keep seeing a woman, a woman who looks exactly like Aleigha. There's no mistaking it. Look, there she is standing behind the wall watching your daughter." She points to a lady in a black hat and and short green velvet dress.
It's her.
