((If you're wondering where the original SS is, I privated it. It wasn't well written and I had a few changes to make. I made a new chapter so that with the new changes, the comments would make some semblance of sense. I hope you enjoy the redraft, although not much has changed!))
Phoenix ascended the stairs which led to the chief prosecutors office swiftly, intending to deliver evidence to Miles and get out of the sickeningly fancy building as quickly as possible. Ring-binder in hand the defense attorney cautiously gave a few knocks to the ageing door, which swung slightly ajar on its rusting hinges. Phoenix could see a small area of the room, barely...
There weren't any lights on, the only light in the room filtered through the large window on the one wall. From what Phoenix could remember that window bore a perfect view of the city skyline, the view was especially perfect when the sun was visibly setting amongst the varying heights of buildings like it would be now. The warm orange light danced along the tall bookcase stocked with case files and ancient novels. Phoenix poked his head around the door and cleared his throat, making his presence known to the prosecutor sat at the desk in front of him. The prosecutor let out a quiet sigh, uttering a quick "you may enter" before rustling through a pile of paperwork on his fine mahogany desk. He seemed flustered, even in the darkened room a soft blush was evident across Miles' cheeks, his usually piercing gaze was softer, more peaceful, most likely because he wasn't expecting visitors.
"What is it Phoenix, I'm quite... preoccupied at the moment," his tone wasn't sharp or cold as it could have been, it was more inconvenienced. Phoenix walked into the near silent room, the only noise was the occasional chirp of the birds outside the window or the creak of Miles' office chair. His footsteps made almost no sound on the long, deep crimson rug as he walked across the room and over to the other male, before holding out the ring-bound folder with a smile,
"I've got some evidence for you, for tomorrow's trial." The defense attorney began, "Gumshoe asked me to bring it to you, said he had important things to organize down at the precinct"
Miles didn't seem to be listening, his gaze was distant as he took in the sight before him. He had never noticed how blue Phoenix's eyes were, or how cute the few dark freckles that dusted his cheeks were. The prosecutor let a small smile play along his lips, the man standing before him was beautiful, at least to him anyway.
Phoenix knew at a glance that something was up, Miles never acts this, unguarded... He noticed how the prosecutor had rid himself of his cravat, as well as his burgundy suit jacket, revealing a fitted grey waistcoat. The attorney had to admit that Miles did look quite dashing in this moment, he could just...
Phoenix leaned over the desk and gently pushed his lips up against Miles', taking the kiss slow until it was returned. Their hands intertwined while the kiss became slightly more passionate, Phoenix let out a small hum of happiness before they broke off their embrace. Their show of affection left them breathless, as if all of their emotions had been suppressed up until now and the floodgates had opened. They stood in a daze, neither knowing what had just happened, gazing longingly into each others eyes. They both knew they wanted each other, and had no idea why they had waited so long...
