The weekend was awkward for Lance as he found himself thinking about how other people would look at him when he went back to school Monday. Luckily, neither him nor Keith were suspended as the teacher who saw them didn't see Lance throwing a punch at the football captain. He sighs in distress.

I wonder if Keith is ok. His face was pretty bruised up.
(By the way this story is just going to be slightly different than the original. When something is written in italics like this, it means the character is thinking it.)

Lances mom scheduled a doctors appointment for Saturday to get his wrist x-rayed as he could possibly have a hairline fracture.

"You ready mijo?"

"I'm coming!"

They drove to a hospital about an hour away.

God I hate hospitals.

They walked in and immediately his mom went to the desk to fill out forms. Lance looked around the room that smelled like bleach and hand sanitizer. The pictures you see in every hospital hung on the walls. Flowers and meadows. He took a seat in a chair and his mom followed and sat with him shortly after.

"Hopefully we can get this done fast mijo, or else your sibling will wreck the house."

Soon enough Lances name was called and he was asked to follow a man with a white coat back into a room.

"How did this happen to you might I ask."

"Uh... I was punched really hard and fell to the floor."

"Hmm. Alright. Give me your arm so I can take these bandages off and we can get started."

The doctor slowly and carefully unwrapped Lances wrist and looked all around it. He applied pressure in a few places to see where the fracture most likely would be. Lance hissed in pain a few times.

"Ok. If you could just take your arm and place it into that machine right here so I can get the image. Try not to move."
(By the way, I have no fucking idea how X-rays work so sorry if this sounds cringe)

Lance sat still as the doctor pressed a button and the machine turned on. A buzzing sound could be heard throughout the room. Lance stared at the machine for what felts like hours but only lasted a couple minutes.

"Alright Lance, thank you for coming in. I'll have your results shortly."

"Thank you"

Lance walked back out to the waiting room as his mom sat staring a the television screen showing the weather and how there were possible thunder storms at 9'oclock tonight.

"How did it go mijo?"

"I don't know, he said he'll have the results soon."

"Ah yes. It'll probably be about an hour so he can look over and study your wrist. Want to go grab some lunch while we wait?"

"Yes please, I'm starving."

They walked into the small cafe that was in the hospital. Lance ordered a cinnamon Frappuccino and an everything bagel croissant. It was only 10 in the morning and he hadn't had breakfast yet. He also didn't eat dinner the night before.

He struggled to eat as he only had one hand that worked properly at the moment so it took him longer to eat than usual. When they finished, they both walked back to the waiting room and the doctor asked Lance to again follow him to a small room. His mom coming with this time.

The doctor pulled up an X-ray image of Lances arm, showing a slight hairline fracture on the left side of his wrist.

"The bad news is that you do in fact have a slight fracture. But, the good news is that it shouldn't take any more than 2 months to heal as it is very slight and didn't cause much damage. You'll need to wear a cast though so you don't hit it on anything to make it worse. Also, try to take some vitamins as they will be important for the healing process to progress well."

"Thank you doctor. I'll be sure my boy doesn't get into any more fights."

His mom glared at him and Lance looked away, feeling slightly guilty.

Before he knew it, people were wrapping his arm in several layers of a casting and bandages. He could barely move his arm afterward.

The drive home seemed awkward as Lance didn't want to face his mom. When he got home he decided to take a shower, but he could get his arm wet, so he had to wrap it in plastic shopping bags so no water would get in.

Wow, washing this beautiful hair of mine is gonna be really hard for the next two months.
