Solstice
Blue skies shone through the city of Boston, reflecting off tall glass buildings. People with a curious looking LED in the side of their head working in offices, warehouses, distribution centres. Its as if the higher ups have complete reign on the population of the city.
2048, everything modernised, everyone born into a new age. However, with every paradise, there are flaws.
Today was July 15th, the day of the solstice festival. Everyone from different towns and even countries would travel to Boston to see the light show. With the birth of a new star joining our solar system, every year, a spectacular solar light show would happen between the new star, Pollux, and the sun. Scientists cannot explain how or why, all we know is that it was a holiday to be cherished.
"Justin, get out of bed and get ready for the festival" a woman yelled up from her home kitchen. A young adult man by the name of Justin was laid on his bed, unmoving and not wanting to be part of today's holiday. Begrudgingly, he stood up and looked at the outfit on his mannequin. The deep red cape with a white trim and golden metal shoulder plates complimented the armour that was hidden underneath. Yes, the armour and cape were flashy, but the holograms that covered the outfit were the real kicker. They would either be blue, purple or orange, depending on the soldiers class.
Yes, Justin was a soldier.
He stood up from his bed and started to get ready, unbuttoning his dress shirt to slip into his chest plate, the golden trim outlining the brilliance of the red. The cape looked heavy, but it was incredibly light. Justin sighed, not looking forward to the festival.
Time skip
The evening quickly rolled in, Justin's anxiety rising to his chest. He dreaded this damn festival, he saw no point in it. All he felt was darkness in this festival of light. Even his own mother didn't come and it was ridiculous that he had to.
"Don't let me let the dark take over" he whispered to himself. H must've been a bit too loud as one of his fellow soldiers heard him and had a concerned look plastered over his face.
"What did you say?" The young brunette asked. Justin couldn't answer as he knew he would be banished from the city. No darkness had been recorded for centuries, even at birth, all he was know for is his bright shining light. He shook his head and smiled at his colleague, obviously not convincing the young man. Justin walked off to clear his head.
Once he was alone, he let out a scream that could deafen a person. All this pain and anguish had built up inside of him for years, but darkness was forbidden in the city, especially during Solstice.
"Don't let me let the dark take over!" He yelled, and as soon as he did, a light erupted into the sky from the tallest building in the city, a symbol he recognised all to well, the same symbol that was on his arm.
"Solstice" he mumbled to himself, but the large eruption of light wasn't part of the celebration. He knew something was off. In the distance, the anarch was a brilliant white colour, but from the top of the building a dark shadow was crawling down quickly and moving its way into the streets.
Justin ran as fast as he could into the streets flooded by people, colourful lanterns decorating the streets and light flowers hung from every window box and were displayed in every shop. People bowed to Justin, but he needed his fellow soldiers to get everyone evacuated.
"RUN!" Justin shouted to the people. They stood there dumbfounded until he yelled again, this time, people taking him seriously. Screams rose from the helpless innocents as the darkness drew closer and closer. Justin spun around to see a wave of darkness coming to plummet down on people. He held his arms up for cover, closing his eyes tightly, but no darkness overtook him, maybe because he already had darkness in him.
"In the solstice of your ever-light, i saw my future" and after he spoke those words, he needed to find the others.
The other divisions, such as echo, manifest, perfect machine, these being n reference to their symbols, not their real names.
Only they can stop the darkness.
"Prepare the diving bell!"
