Bride of the sea

The beginning

In the beginning, there was Uranus; the sky, and Gaea; mother Earth. Incredible immortal beings of incredible strength and knowledge of old religion, rituals, and magic.

Coeus, the titan of intelligence and farsight. Chronos, titan of time and ages. Crius,titan of heavenly constellations.Hyperion, a titan of light. Iapetus, the titan of Mortal life span. Oceanus, Titan of the salt water upon the Earth, Mnemosyne, titaness of memory and remembrance. Phoebe, titaness of prophetic radiance. Rhea,titaness of fertility and motherhood. Theia,titaness of shining. Themis, titaness of divine law and order. Tethys, titaness of all the fresh water upon the earth.

12 children, all equal in prowess and knowledge that could surpass Uranus and Gaea were born unto the two deities. Yet they had let this power and knowledge consume them, they rose to power. Chronus, the leader of his siblings plotted alongside his mother to overtake the leadership of the Cosmos from Uranus. In doing so, they succeeded, placing Chronus in place of the heavenly being. Chronus had married his sister Rhea, and together they had ruled for ages, their watchful eyes looking over the creation of the earth before them. Yet... the titans knew deep down that Chronus was no better than his father.

Rhea had borne three children, Poseidon, Hades and Zeus. Uranus and Rhea had prophesied that Chronus will be overthrown by a son, in fear of this prophecy he swallowed each child the moment they were born. From this moment on, history had repeated itself. After each child she bore, Rhea's heart broke. Her sadness began to turn into hate, a burning hatred for her husband... and in the end she devised a plot against him.

Upon the arrival of her third, and final child who she had named Zeus, she gave birth in secrecy, an eagle taking him to an island to be raised in secrecy by Gaea. To hide the act she had committed, she had grabbed a stone, and wrapped it in a blanket. The titan Chronos, believing it was his child, swallowed him whole.

Over the years, Zeus grew up upon the island and became a handsome young man. Confidant and strong, and held kindness within his heart. He was tall, his hair color a dark blue mixed with brown and black, his skin toned from the sun, his eyes a deep shade of indigo and cyan. A spitting image of his mother.

Zeus had often consulted Gaea, sometimes Metis on how he could defeat his father. He despised Chronos, his so called father had swallowed his brothers in fear of one overtaking his throne. His mother, the pain she had held within her heart had brought sadness into his ownl, and in turn he figured with the destruction of Chronos.. Everything... would be better.

The goddesses had told him that Zeus could never stand a chance against Chronos and his followers, he needed strong allies that would stay close to his side. Thereafter the goddesses had made a concoction, a strong drink that would induce the mighty titan to vomit. Finishing this drink, they had given it to Zeus, the man accepting it with gratitude and hope in his steadfast heart.

In the meantime, Rhea his mother had convinced Chronos to let Zeus return to their home, Mount Othrys as a cupbearer. Chronos, unknown that this new cupbearer was his son, agreed. Zeus had arrived, settling in into a profession that wouldn't last a day. He had given the cup to his father, the titan taking it into his body unaware of what was about to happen. The titan had disgorged Zeus's brothers, all of them perfectly unharmed and grown up much to his surprise.

His brothers were grateful to him, their hearts moved by his act decided to proclaim them their leader. Together they would rebel against Chronos. From this point on began a ten year war between them known to the mortals as The Titanomachy.

A war fought between the Titans and the olympian gods. Chronos and the other titans except Epimetheus and Prometheus and Prometheus who sided with the olympians, and Oceanus who decided to fight against his brother to retain the true power.
