It was just like any other night. I opened my eyes to the sounds of screaming and an empty black void. Tonight, however, I sensed a familiar presence in the back of my mind. I kept my face neutral as I turned around, meeting the eyes of my father, who was holding his wand pointed in my direction. I sighed and crossed my arms, tilting my head so that a bit of my wavy black hair fell off of my shoulders.

"Kiora, my love. Playing around again?" My father questioned, making no moves to step forward. I scoffed and shifted my weight to my other hip.

"You know me better than that. I stopped playing around in this room when I turned eight. The only thing I do here now is talk to you and practice magic." I stated, turning my back to him, something no other person would dare ever do.

My father lowered his wand and stalked over towards me, lifting his chin in expectancy as he met my eyes. Had this been years ago, our faces might've been near copies of each other.

"I do hope you have been faring alright in my absence. My resurrection is near, so I have had less time to visit you," Voldemort explained, "but could this father assume his daughter is thriving?"

I said nothing and looked up at him, nodding my head once. My father smirked and then reached out, resting a hand on my shoulder. Affection from the Dark Lord? Hardly. He was simply trying to connect to me. Had this been a normal dream, I wouldn't have felt his icy cold skin meet mine. I didn't dare flinch, but made an effort to press closer to his touch, feigning contemptment.

I finally, after getting used to the temperature of his skin, decided to speak, "Why else have you come here to visit me, father? Never once in my life have you simply wanted to visit me and remind me of your resurrection. There's always another purpose."

"You're so clearly my daughter, Lady Riddle. So smart and insightful," Voldemort smirked, "yes. There is another purpose for my visit, and I hope you'll be inclined to listen."

He spoke as if I had a choice. I knew, however, one wrong word could get me killed. One miscalculation could send me into a world of more pain I've ever known, or inflicted on someone else. I simply nodded again, turning to an empty space in the room. Practically everything was an empty void, but Voldemort's presence alone in something so empty filled most of the space. It was hard to find a break from it.

"As you know, Harry Potter and his friends are now in their third year at Hogwarts. You just so happen to be the same age as them." My father began, walking around me in a circle with slow, even steps. My eyes widened. I could see where this was going.

"Yes, father. Draco is also in their year, but he has made an enemy of them." I informed him, knowing full well that he already knew all this information.

Voldemort stopped and turned to face me, "I'd like you to attend Hogwarts. Of course, you'll be under the protection of Draco Malfoy, plus another man, who is a professor at the school. Your task would be to get Potter and his friends to trust you."

I let all of the possible scenarios and outcomes play in my mind. I knew I'd naturally be sorted into Slytherin, which would make it harder for me to befriend the Potter crew. Plus, my identity to the outside world was Kiora Malfoy, and Harry had a deep hatred for Malfoys. However, the advantages of getting a piece of our grand scheme under our control so early on was also making my blood sizzle with excitement. We could win the war much easier than we had estimated, and even, if at all possible, drag Harry to our side.

I didn't let my emotions show as I opened my smoky-blue eyes and gazed at my father, "I will do it."

My father smirked a more evil smirk than I had ever seen him use. He pulled out a wand- my wand- from his cloak and handed it to me. I wouldn't need it, being who I was, but I would need it at the school.

"You start next month," my father said, "do not disappoint me." The last words were hissed in Parseltongue to me. I bowed as he faded away.

"Do not worry. I will exceed your expectations." I hissed back, my counsiness slowly returning as I woke up.
