Midnight and I are walking through the woods, the same woods I found her in a few years back. All of the sudden a pair of headlights show up next to the woods. Not on the highway. I start to remember what happened the night I found midnight as an injured wolf pup. A pair of strange headlights appeared and someone got out and started walking toward us.
" I thought I would find you here with my dog" said the strange voice
" She isn't yours" I say taking off midnights harness
" That's not what that split left ear says" He replies stepping closer to them , " You're a monster !" I yell " Run midnight ! Go home !" I say running deeper into the woods . Trying to have the hunter follow me instead of midnight . I try everything to keep his attention on me and not on Midnight as she runs for home .
I climbed a tree to hide in an old hunting stand , listening for his footsteps . I don't hear anything but I know he is still here . He wouldn't leave without a fight . I look through the gun hole and don't see him , but I see his headlights . I look around again , and I see a pure white wolf-dog . Not knowing who it is I stay quiet for a little longer then I whisper "Bolt" I whisper under my breath.
I'm awakened a few seconds later and I get a white tail to the face . Then I realized I was dripping with sweat . I look around and see midnight to my left and bolts tail in front of my face .
I get out of bed trying not to wake them....the second my foot touches the ground I hear a squeak , bolts favorite chew toy .
"Shit" I say to myself , freezing in place knowing better than to look behind me . I jump off the bed and onto the couch or get tackled by a puff of white .
"Good morning kids !" Says my brother Skyler as he walks in with four bowls.
"Kennel up you two" I say to the both of them play wrestling on my bed .
Skyler hands me midnight navy blue bowls . I give her the bowl and tell her to wait . I fill up her water bowl , then get her vitamins and put her water bowl in her kennel with her and sign her to eat.
"Ghost , why did you teach her sign language ?" Skyler asked looking puzzled as always
"She was willing to learn and she didn't have good hearing after surgery" I reply signing to her she is a good girl " Bolt knows sign language to" I say signing bolt to speak
"How does Bolt know sign language ?" skyler asks confused
" I don't know, when I started teaching midnight he did what I told or asked her to do" I say walking to the kitchen to a table full of breakfast foods
"Couldn't sleep." Says Skyler when he sees my puzzled look.
"Me either, let's eat" I say grabbing a little bit of everything off the table. Let's go watch something on the new TV, the dogs will be done eating soon so we should get moving if we want spots on the couch" I say laughing ."
Just like clock work, the second we sit down here they come. We hear their nails clicking on the hardwood floor . Now that's something I'm glad I can predict . Well what r u an Bolt going to do today I ask him .
Skylar says I'm not sure yet I haven't really thought about it yet . What are you going to do ? I'm thinking about going for a walk with Midnight after this show which should be here soon .
After the tv show Ghost got herself and Midnight ready to go for a walk . They walk around for about a couple of hours before heading home . On the way home they cut through the woods playing and having fun . A while later they come out the other side of the woods close to the road leading to their village . Ghost an Midnight walked through the tall grass and weeds that grew alongside the road Ghost stopped and picked up a stick and waved it at Midnight to see if she wanted to fetch the stick .
Midnight ran in circles excitedly as she did when she was a puppy . Then Ghost through the stick and Midnight took off after it . She got to were the stick landed an picked it up in her mouth and brought it back to Ghost . Ghost grabbed the stick giving Midnight the sign that she was thought to drop something . They finally made it to village and started in the direction of their house going through back alleys at times . Eventually making it home , Ghost looked down at Midnight saying we're home girl .
Taking her key out of her pocket and putting it into the lock she turned the key as it unlocked someone walking by said hi Ghost making her stop from fully opening the door and turn around to see one of her neighbors walking and she responded with hi how are you doing today . The neighbor replied I'm good , where are the two of you coming from ? Ghost said I took Midnight for a walk in the woods . The neighbor asks if she saw the hunter . Ghost said no I didn't see him .
The neighbor said that's good I hope you never do . Ghost said that makes three of us . The neighbor said well it was nice seeing you and Midnight have a good evening Ghost said you have a good one as well . Ghost turned back around , opening the door and walked inside , closing and locking the door behind her . She looks at midnight and asks her if she is hungry as she walks into the kitchen to make herself some food . She walked over to where they keep the dog food and took a scoop of food out for Midnight and put it into Midnight's bowl . After finishing making herself something to eat she took it to the living room to watch some TV as she ate her food .
