"Brother, are you sure that's the place?" I asked.
"Of course, the lead scientist gave me these numbers!" My older brother Magnus snapped in reply.
I huffed and shook my head. The barren landscape outside couldn't be where the cure was located. There was too much open space with no homes in sight. Magnus carefully landed the ship, making sure our cloak stayed up.
He turned to me, his purple eyes reflecting my own. He headed for the closest dispenser and got two disguisers. He tossed me one and placed his on the side of his neck. He activated it and turned into a human.
I grunted and placed my disguiser on my neck. I activated it, the pixels hiding my true nature. I shivered as I looked at my now pale pink skin. I headed for the closet and pulled out a black shirt. I heard Magnus hum as he looked our instruments over.
"Hey, Raddix, come here." Magnus said. "Listen to this, what is that?"
"I have no clue." I replied.
We stood by our main scanner and looked it over. Everything seemed fine. I had the computer trace the strange sound. Its source was some sort of human gathering place. Magnus and I shared a look.
"Well, I suppose we must head for The Rockin' Pub." Magnus mumbled. "Whatever that means."
I nodded in agreement and headed for the door. I opened it, and I was slammed by a wall of hot air. I felt sweat instantly break out on my skin. How anyone could live here, I did not know. Magnus grunted as he walked out. His nose wrinkled up in distaste.
"When we find the cure, we leave immediately." He said.
"I agree, brother." I grumbled. "Let's make this quick."
We headed out into the scorching heat. As we walked, I felt my heart thump in my chest. Something important was going to happen in this barren, hot place.
*Stevie's P.O.V.*
I walked around my uncle's pub as my and Natalies' shift came to an end. I heard Nat scolding the town drunk. I looked over and snorted. He was about to topple off his stool again. Nat was trying to get him to leave, like usual. Honestly, I'd kill to have a change to the daily grind Nat, and I are in.
I heard the door open. I turned to greet the customer only to stop short. Two strange men walked in. I could tell those two guys were in for some trouble. Several of the easy women in town had already turned to see who walked in. And now they're drooling.
"Hi, I'm Stevie; I'll be your waitress." I finally said. "This way, please."
The two men followed me towards an empty booth. I stood out of the way as they both slipped into the seats. I placed menus in front of them. Nat came over with two glasses of water. I took them and set them in front of the men.
"Thank you, Stevie." One of them said.
"Yeah, y'all want anything else to drink?" I asked. "We got some different beers, whiskey, any kinda booze really, soda, or do y'all just want water?"
"Hmm, I'll try the Guinness, please, Stevie. What about you, brother?"
"I'll try the same." His brother said.
"Alright, I'll be right back. Come on, Nat."
I left and headed to the bar. My aunt stood behind it and glanced up when I walked up. I motioned for two glasses of Guinness. She nodded and grabbed two-pint glasses. She filled the two-room temperature glasses with the cold brew. Then she passed the glasses to me.
I headed back to the two men with the drinks. I set them down in front of the men. Then I stood up straight. I pulled out my notebook and flipped to a clean page.
