Yugyeom loved the floor.
No matter what material or where it was, Yugyeom had always felt a strange sense of completion and safety.
So when he was given a part in the choreography that required grinding against it, he spend a bit more time on just that.
Just him and the floor becoming one.
The members never thought anything of it- of the way Yugyeom's demeanour brightened up every time his part came on, or the way he spent just that little bit longer on the floor grinding part that he had already mastered.
But the floor was that little thing extra Yugyeom had needed in his life, and once he realised its value to him, the members rarely found it apart from him.
It was the day of the group's first big fight, that Yugyeom truly found comfort in the floor- everyone had left the lounge room after their screaming and it left only Yugyeom. So Yugyeom just lay there on the floor, savouring the coolness of the wood and the way it felt underneath him. Just him and the floor.
It was on a hot steamy Wednesday that Yugyeom truly put trust in the floor. One moment he felt the harsh sting on his cheek from Mark's hand, and the never ending sense of falling that Yugyeom dreaded, but then he was on the floor, the harsh kitchen tiles grounding him, bringing him back to the present, calming him down and catching him from falling forever.
It was in his and Bambam's shared bathroom that Yugyeom truly saw the floors beauty, his own blood flowing from his wrists and mingling with the white tiles, edging in to the cracks, entrancing him to put the blade back to his wrist, watching once more as it created smooth patterns in the floor. That day, the stress of the group's continuous fights got to him, the stress seeping away as he curled up on his only trusted friend, the floor once again sending calming waves. That day, Yugyeom couldn't bring himself to clean what was already so beautiful, so he left the drying blood on the floor, finding it gone the next day, although no one said anything about it.
Even when Jaebeom, their strict and caring leader, holed himself up in his room.
When Mark the quiet but fun one, started reverting back to his old violent angry personality
When Jackson, the bright mood maker, became silent and constantly started disappearing.
When Jinyoung, the calm and collected mother of the group, started ignoring everyone.
When Youngjae, the sunshine itself, lost all brightness in his now dull eyes
Or when Bambam, his own best friend and soulmate, was found lifeless in a murky red bath, the same blade Yugyeom used to make that colour discarded on the side.
The floor was there. Constantly. Just for him.
So Yugyeom decided to become even closer to it.
It was on top of the JYPent. building, that Yugyeom truly wanted to be with the floor, a longing so strong that he'd never felt before.
He looked down, staring not at the small figures or cars moving down below, but solely on the floor.
Although it was a long way down, the floor was there.
Waiting.
Just for him.
Like it always was.
And for the last time in his life, Yugyeom felt the floor.
And a much greater wave of calmness overtook him, as he was finally truly at peace.
Just him and the floor.
