(A/N disclaimer - I do not own any of the characters or Jojo's bizarre adventures. I fully recommend it and the creator Hirohiko Araki did an amazing job)
It was a bright yet chilly winter morning in Italy.
And surprisingly the Stardust Crusaders were able to catch a break; no pillar men, no family in danger, no centuries old somehow related vampire bent on world domination. Just peace, which they all thought was very creepy. . .
But Suzie Q wasn't going another second without reuniting with her beloved grandson after so long, so it was commanded that they all cease with the paranoia and get some much needed rest at Lisa Lisa's island. Who knows when an opportunity like this would come again.
Yet something was off
Mr Joseph Joestar.
If anyone asked what he was like most would answer so boisterous and loud for his age that he seemed like the oldest man child alive. He was energetic, radiant even, childish, impulsive, strong as a tank and annoyingly perceptive.
Something was wrong today, the crusaders hadn't been on the island that long but they could feel the change in the air that surrounded him. The usual aura of powerful energy and slight cockiness that surrounds him was replaced with a quiet almost anguished one, his eyes were distant in a land that was almost impossible to reach. If he noticed their eyes even remotely directed at him the radiant smile with the power of a thousand suns would return immediately and talk the Crusaders ears off until the sombre mood seemed to be a figment of their imagination.
But as the day went on there were more things they noticed. Like how much more quiet and withdrawn he was. When his eyes clouded over in thought he didn't come out of unless disturbed or after what felt like hours later. Or how when Joseph thought he was alone his features would take on such a pained expression that truly didn't suit his typically grinning face, especially when in certain places like the balcony, the training grounds or outside a certain door. . .
The crusaders were confused and concerned to say the least, even Iggy wasn't causing as much a ruckus as usual. So later on they decided to meet in what seemed to be an abandoned bedroom to discuss what to do about the elders drastic change of character.
---- With the Crusaders ----
They all went into a room that seemed like a bedroom that hadn't been used in years, everything was covered in white sheets and there was dust everywhere.
"So what do you think's been bothering Mr Joestar so badly??" Kakyoin started while removing a sheet off of what appeared to be a very large bed as he sat down.
"Hell if I know" Jotaro added curtly. (A/N like the adorable tsundere he is) Deep down though he was slightly panicked, he had never seen his grandfather in so much pain. Not in battles with their backs against the wall, not ever. And he hadn't the faintest clue as to what could of caused it. Part of him didn't want to know.
"Well I don't get why he's being so dreadfully gloomy! Shouldn't he be glad we get to have a break?? I sure am, you won't believe the amount of beauty sleep I've missed. How will I be able to maintain my charming face for the ladies~" Polnareff whined whilst pulling off all the sheets he could. It was Italy, there's bound to be some good booze in here!
"Stop being selfish Polnareff." Avdol ever the voice of reason scolded. "It is highly unusual for Mr Joestar to act in such a way, as his friends it is our job to find out what the cause is and help to the best of our ability."
"I agree, it's really concerning. I saw him on the balcony earlier and his expression. . .it was. . ." Kakyoin trailed off with a troubled face. He'd never seen the elder Joestar so, so lost and hurting before. He never wants to see that horrid expression marring his features again.
Jotaro gave a grunt of acknowledgement with his signature "yare yare"
Polnareff pouted before releasing an exasperated groan, "uugh fine. But at least let me find some booze first!" He removed another sheet and sure enough it was a table with some bottles of alcohol, however there were also many pictures. "Oohh I wonder who they are," he pondered aloud while picking up one of the pictures.
In it there were two men. One had sun kissed skin and chestnut hair with the clearest aquamarine eyes that held an abundance of pride and mischief. He wore a skin tight crop top, green striped scarf, some blue ripped jeans with some brown boots. His smile is what made Polnareff stop, and his face changed to a look of shock and confusion which fascinated the others so they gathered round. They all froze. They had seen that smile somewhere, it was so familiar in the way it stretched to reach the mans eyes and gave out what felt like energy from the sun.
He had his arm wrapped around the other man's shoulders, he was a stark contrast to the other. His snow white skin and almost platinum blond hair with a sort of band on his forehead, he also had two strange birthmarks under his eyes. He wore a blue jacket with a white shirt and cargo pants and a pink scarf. His eyes, they were shining emeralds that held both annoyance at the man who caged him and some kind of fondness, clearly shown by the slight playful smirk gracing his lips.
Something seemed to click in Jotaro's mind after a while as his face donned with realisation, "Hold up is that the old man??" He asked to no one in particular. The statement did however catch the interest of everyone else as they reached the same conclusion.
Polnareff was the first to speak after Jotaro. "That's Mr Joestar!?! WhAt HaPpEnEd?!??!"
(A/n So if anyone actually decides to read this I know I said it's a one shot but 'cause I know that some people can't take too long chapters - me being one of them - imma put the rest in another chapter or 2 depending on how long it is. So bye)
