The manor was silent, it always is during my mid-afternoon reading time, & as I was lying on the ceiling reading a book on potion brewing in the living room, I suddenly hear my grandmother say:

"Onyx, are you studying?" I roll my eyes & say quietly:

"Vis gravitatis " As I am falling slowly to the floor,& gracefully landing. As I land my raven, Poe flies in carrying a letter, & as he swoops down, I hear loud stomping growing closer, think to myself:

"Uh, oh!" My raven hears it too & quickly drops the letter on a nearby desk & flies away. I panic & I quickly, say:

"Gravitas Propia E Converso!" I quickly float to the ceiling as I land on the cover with my legs crossed. I feel a big rush of wind, followed by a loud slam. It was my little brother, Everett Decroix. He was mad about something. He starts looking around, probably wondering where I am. He then begins to start calling out for me in a high & squeaky voice that gets on my nerves. After a few minutes of tolerating his unruliness. I finally had enough & I quickly whisper:

"Vis gravitatis." I slowly fall to the floor, as gracefully & silently as possible. This entire endeavor is typical for me because I always sit on the ceiling & no one can ever find me. It's my favorite place to see the view of the outdoors from a different point of view. As my feet touch the cold, bare floor, & the hem of my scarlet dress falls to my feet. I am almost instantly welcomed by Everett, jabbing me in the stomach with one of his practice wands, hard. I slightly lose my balance to this surprise. As I am stumbling backward, my brother starts charging at me again. Quickly, I regain my balance, & dodge his attack & add a snarky comment.

"Young gentlemen, such as yourself, shouldn't act this way in public, nor the home setting. Everett, this is my alone time. Why did you barge in so suddenly like that? You know I don't like to be bothered during my time." He quickly adds the best he could.

"I want to hang out with you. Please hang out with me, sister." I ignore him & laugh, pulling up my icy white hair into a sophisticated bun with my wand & head to the table that holds my letter, the one that Poe dropped when he heard that gargantuan stomping. My brother quickly runs to my side, then stops.

"Onys, pwease pway wif me. I have no one to pway wif!" He says with a bit of pouting sound in his voice. I roll my eyes & run a finger across the wood on the couch & begin to look at my finger. I think to myself:

"If I want to stay strong, I should not pity anyone, nor serve any mercy, even to my kin." I sit on an antique lounge-chair, in front of the table that holds my letter. My brother stands in front of the table, looking at me. I finally say:

"Everett, I have some business to attend to regarding school, so could you leave me alone? Go & ask Auntie Katie if she would like to play. I'm sure she would enjoy your company." My brother sighs & walks out of the room, leaving the room, followed by a loud slam of the large chamber doors. After a few minutes of making sure he was gone, I slowly grabbed the letter on the table. As I opened it, my heart was racing faster than the Snitch in a Quidditch match. Once I opened the letter, my heart dropped.
