Y/N POV
Me and Daniel adopted a 13 year old girl 3 years ago. Her name is Millie and now she's 16 years old. She's been very distant with us these past 3 years but some months ago she started getting closer to us which was really shocking for both me and Daniel. She's been really hard to get to know and talk to and we still don't know much about her. In her past home she was abused and very lonely. We've been trying so hard to make her feel safe and at home even tho she's an only child. Right now we were eating dinner.
"How was school today Mil?" Daniel asks sweetly biting his chicken. He's the only one that gets to call her Mil which I think is really sweet.
"Okay I guess" I look at Daniel and he looks at me with hurt in his eyes. Daniels biggest dream is to become close to Millie. He really loves her more than anything and he just wishes he could help her.
"Wanna tell us about it?" I ask curious.
"No I'm good" she half smiles at me. I smile back.
"I have homework to do" she looks at me.
"You can go up and work if you want to. I'll put you food in the fridge so you can eat it later."
"Thank you Y/n" my heart still breaks a little bit when she calls me my name. I'm not upset that she doesn't feel comfortable saying mom or dad but it would mean a lot after these 3 years. She runs up stairs and I look at Daniel while he continues to eat.
Daniels POV
When I've washed the dinner up I decided to go up to Millies room and ask if she wants to see a movie with me and y/n. I knock on the door.
"Yea?" I open the door and walks in.
"Hi mils, do you wanna watch a movie with us?"
"I guess, what movie?" She asks.
"We rented you're absolute favorite"
"You did not rent 13 going 30" she smiles bright.
"We sure did Mils" I smile at her.
"Thank you thank you dad!!" I stop breathing for a second. Did she just call me dad?
"We'll wait for you downstairs" I say as calmly as I can walking out and closing the door. I walk downstairs and find y/n in the kitchen making popcorn. I wrap my arms around her waist and kiss her cheek.
"Y/n I think Millie just called me dad" I whisper.
"What?" She says tearing up.
Millies POV
Oh dear god I just called Daniel dad. Not that it bothers me it's just like I didn't want it to be now. I do want to call them mom and dad but I'm just so scared. I don't want them to think I'm crazy for calling them mom and dad. Ugh I just hope he didn't hear it. I take all my confidence in me and walk slowly down stairs. They're sitting on the couch with the movie ready and snacks on the table.
"Hi" I say quietly.
"Hey Mills, do you want me to start the movie?" I take a deep breath.
"No not yet" I answer. They look at me confused but I see dad I mean Daniel having a little smirk on his face.
"Daniel did you hear me say anything special when we talked upstairs?"
"Yes mills I did" he answers smiling.
"I'm so sorry I called you dad and that I didn't ask before I said it. I mean I've wanted to call you guys mom and dad for a while now but I've just been scared. I just wish I could open up to you guys more but it's just hard because of the past. But these 3 years has been a blessing in my life really. I wouldn't want anybody else as my parents. I know I'm an ungrateful teenager but I really really love you guys" I saw how both of them has tears in their eyes.
"Millie Elena Seavey, I don't even know what to say. I've been dreaming about this day for so long. You don't ever need to ask us for permission to call us mom and dad. We've been waiting for you to call us that but we didn't want to pressure you. We love you so much baby" Y/n says opening her arms. I run into them connecting us together. I pull away looking at dad who is crying. I've never seen him cry. I slam my arms around his body and he hugs back immediately kissing my head.
1 year later
Y/n POV
"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Millie, happy birthday to you" we all sing.
"Happy birthday baby" Daniel says kissing her head while hugging her right. I walk up to her taking her face in my hands.
"I can't believe you're 17 Millie" she looks at me smiling. We've been closer to Millie than ever. Her and Daniel has a very very special bond so we can say that Daniels wish came true. I hate to admit it but she's a daddy's girl.
"I love you both" she says looking at me and Daniel.
"We love you more sweetheart" Daniel answers. She walks away going to her uncles that are yelling at her to come and see which one of them has the best gift and personally I think Corbyn won. I look up at Daniel giving him a passionate kiss before I hug him.
"This year has been crazy" I whisper in his chest.
"The best crazy" he whispers back. The doorbell rings and our moment is over. I look over seeing Millie running to the door.
"LAVENDER" she screams attacking her best friend in a hug. They both laugh as the almost fall to the ground. I see Gabriela smiling going through the door and walking to me and Daniel. She gives me the best hug. Gabriela and i have been friends for so long. Before she was pregnant. She introduced me to Daniel and she's been there for us every step of the way. I see Lavender talking to her uncles while Millie is making her way here.
"Tia Gabriela" she says making Gabriela turn around. She gives Gabriela a long tight hug. Gabriela hugs back and kisses her on her head. They have a special bond. Gabriela is like Millies second mom which makes me so happy.
"Happy birthday pretty girl" Gabriela says after letting go of her. Lavender makes her way to us.
"Hi Tia y/n & hi uncle Daniel, Mill do you wanna go upstairs and talk about you know" she says winking. Millie laughs and answers with a nod. They run upstairs together laughing and smiling. Happy to see both girls smiling and loving each other. I look at Gabriela and we laugh together as we make our way to all of our family.
