The point of view will always be in Y/n's unless I have stated otherwise. Anyways, I hope you enjoy.

I grumbled lowly to myself as I opened the front door to my house and closed it behind me.

My mood has significantly lowered from when I got up to go to school to when I returned. Grabbing a snack from the kitchen, I sat down on the couch in the living room and sighed.

"What's wrong?" My mom's voice from above me questioned.

I took a bite of my apple and lifted my head up. My mom was making her way downstairs with a worried glance thrown my way.

"Just a bad day at school," I muttered as I angrily took another bite of the apple, "I had a pop quiz in calculus, I received a B on my history exam. Finally, my English teacher gave us all a project that will be due in two days."

My mom gave me a warm smile as she stood behind the couch, "Sweetie, your grades do not define you. If you try your best, I will always be proud of you. I think it's good that you received a B on your exam. I was terrible at history when I was your age."

A warm feeling erupted in my body at my mom's comforting words. They were exactly what I wanted to hear. A huge smile appeared of my face.

"Thanks, mom."

"Don't mention it, sweetie," She chuckled and ruffled my hair before grabbing her car keys, "I'm going to go shopping. Do you need anything?"

I wracked my brain to see if there was something I needed before sitting up straight on the couch, "Oh! Where's our family photo album? I need it for my English project."

"It's in the attic," My mom replied as she opened the front door, "Is that all?"

"Yeah," I answered, "See you later!"

"Love you, sweetie," She called out.

I stood up from the couch and shouted back, "Love you too."

I heard the front door close and looked dauntingly at the stairs.

The attic?

I hated going in there. For some reason, it always smells salty and is full of spiderwebs. And where there are spiderwebs, there are spiders.

Shuttering lightly, I sucked it up and made my way up the stairs. I passed my room, my parent's room, the bathroom before looking up at the opening of the attic at the end of the hall.

Using the stool below it, I grabbed the string and pulled open the attic door. The stairs to it unfolded. I moved the stool and climbed up the stairs.

A loud creaking noise sounded as I walked into the attic. I cringed at the sound and saw a ton of boxes on shelves and on the floor.

This is going to take long.

I sighed and opened up the box closest to me.

Let's see.

I sneezed as some dust from the box surrounded me. There was just old teapots and a flower vase in it. I moved onto the next box.

There was just empty picture frames inside of it. Another box had a journal full of interesting findings from my grandpa.

I sighed and stood up to move to another box when a ray of sun shined into the attic from a window. It must've shined on some type of jewelry because the ray of sunshine ricocheted off something.
