Cole Hartman, age 25 biologically female, stage four leukemia.

These were the bold words on coles patient file, everything else was just height weight yada yada medical stuff they didnt care about. At least not to cole anyways, all they cared about was the ticking clock on the wall and the empty room around them.

It wasnt that they were unloved it was that most of their loved ones had passed away years prior. A family outing in the woods one winter, a car crash and Cole left at home. An old story a common story, cole wasnt upset by it anymore. It still hurt but it was an old wound in a long list of painful memories now.

Now what really hurt them was that they were dying, full of regret. They never went to college, they never got married or even dated, hell they never left their home state unless their family had taken them. A recluse after their family passed away cole worked a dead end job spending past times on tic tok, Instagram or daydreaming of far off worlds were they enacted wonderful plots.

Sometimes they were the hero, sometimes the villian, sometimes a dashing young male or a wisened sage, sometimes a soft gentle maiden hidden in the mountains, or a hardened lieutenant only following her commanders orders even til the ends of space.

They felt like They wanted to laugh, but a dry painful cough was all they managed. Those dreams were the only thing that made life worthwhile, but now they were coles biggest regret. Life wasted dreaming about a better life when they should have worked towards one.

Their eyes grew heavy, they knew these were the last moments. All cole could think about was the few people online who would miss them, people they had shared their dreams with everynow and then. Those few who lived thousands of miles away and didnt even know who cole was or what they looked like. All they knew was cole would disappear one day, another regret to add to the pile.

Cole closed their eyes expecting just the black void and then nothing more.

"Hey dumbass you gonna wake up?" A soft child like female voice echoed in their already hurting head. "I SAID WAKE UP OR AN ORCS GONNA EAT YOU!"
