"No, there's no way you're coming back with us. Not after the way you treated her!" Julian's voice rang out across the house, and Isaac's voice rang out after his.
"What's that supposed to mean? I haven't done a damn thing except give her attention and love that she deserves, ever since high school started. You've only known her for a year!"
"Boys! Shut up! Isaac, maybe it would be better if you stayed here. I mean, I-I love you as a brother, but I don't feel like I can trust you anymore, cause you pushed me down a flight of stairs."
"I'm telling you, I don't remember doing that! It's like I- everything went dark, and I spaced out, and the next time I knew where I was, I was in an ambulance with you right next to me, unconscious."
"M-maybe you need to go to a therapist. Talk to them about it."
"What?! Are you saying I'm crazy?"
"No, no, not at all. I'm just saying, there might be a reason that you don't remember."
"I mean, I guess I could, but what's the problem with it?"
Oh uh, sorry, I guess I should probably explain the situation to you. See, I moved to Olympia, Washington, and I thought everything was going to be fine and dandy, but I've ended up being basically hunted down by my best friend. I know, I know, even that sounds really complicated. So I'll start from the beginning.
Ka-thunk. "Owwwww." I held my head as the car bounced on rocks, making my head hit the door. I was just trying to sleep, goddamn it. My moms and I were leaving our old hometown, Fayetteville, Arkansas, for rainy Olympia, Washington. I didn't really want to leave my friends, but it would be nice to live in a new environment, I guess. As we pulled into the driveway of our new house, I noticed there was a tall brunette staring at the car, confused. I shrugged and walked into the house. The peach walls reached up to a popcorn ceiling, and the floor was a dark brown carpeting. Our table was already there and set up in the dining room, which was the next room over. I looked into the living room and noticed that our gorgeous dark blue love seat and couch set was set by the window and the fireplace.
"Your bedroom should be the last one to the right," Mama said, dropping my suitcase in the doorway.
"Alright, thanks, Mama." I grabbed my suitcase and went to where my bedroom was. The electric blue walls matched well with the beige carpeting and the white ceiling. I flopped onto my bed, sighing. A couple hours later, Mom came in and woke me up for dinner. I hadn't even realized that I'd fallen asleep, but I had. As I walked down the stairs, I realized that a man and the blonde I'd seen earlier were at the table.
"Lila, this is Mr. Knight and his daughter, Eva. They're our neighbors from across the street." Mom motioned toward the two.
"Oh. Hi," I waved at Eva from the doorway, then went into the kitchen, asking Mama if she needed any help.
"Yeah, could you get the spaghetti and put it on the table?"
"Of course." Would I call myself a Mama's girl? Yeah, I guess so, but I try not to choose between my moms. It's just that Mom isn't around as much as Mama, so I just naturally gravitate towards Mama. I help her out around the house, and she's always there for me when I need someone to talk to.
