Gray, my gray eyes. Or more specifically my soulmates gray eyes. I stared at them in the mirror, like I was having a staring contest with someone else. I knew, in reality, it was just my reflection but those eyes didn't feel like they were mine. Like they were wrongly misplaced in my face when I was born, and they were. They weren't my eyes.
"Kenma! Hurry up you're going to be late!" I looked at the bathroom door as my mom yelled for me downstairs, I sighed while grabbing my backpack and walked out. "Kenma how many times have I told you to stop playing games in the bathroom! Seriously," my mom shook her head and opened the door for me. I hugged my mom and then left while saying a faint sorry.
I put my earbuds in and started to play my 'ignore the whole world around me' playlist. I saw people laughing and talking to each other, I'll admit that I'm kinda jealous of them. I wish I could have some of their social skills it amazes me, the fact they can talk to people so easily. I hate it, it's scary...
Finally, I get to the front gate of my school I sigh and brace myself for another day of hell. Taking my earbuds out and pausing my playlist, I start to head over to my first period, Science. (Since I don't know how Japan does their schooling I'm going to be using the American style btw)
I enter my classroom and instantly go straight to my seat, I didn't want to much attention from anyone since the classroom door is super loud when it closes. Luckily no one noticed me thank God, "hey kenma what's up?" Well, almost no one. I turn my head to see one of my only friends Yaku and is probably one of the most responsible people I know. His height makes him look like a first-year but he's a third year.
"Hi, Yaku-san." I realized something different about Yaku, I couldn't place my finger on it until I realized. His eyes, his soulmate's eyes are usually an emerald type green but now Yaku's eyes were a hazel brown. "So you found your soulmate huh?" I said staring at him. He sighed and looked at me, "You know that annoying super tall first year Lev Haiba? Yeah, it's him."
I snickered a little bit, I could tell that Yaku is very annoyed by Lev sometimes who knew they were soulmates? "Well, I hope the best for you two," I said smirking a little bit "Yeah I'm gonna need it."
"Hey, so you gonna join the volleyball team this year?" Yaku stated, "I think you would do great as our setter!" I was thinking about joining since I played in middle school plus I do kinda miss volleyball. "Hm, I don't know I was thinking about it but would they let me? I mean I am a second year."
"Yeah totally! You would be a great addition to the team!" I looked down at my desk and thought about it for a little bit. "Maybe, I'll think about it some more." Yaku nodded and then the teacher walked in, "Alright class settle down, today we are going to be talking about weather and water."
~timeskip because who cares about school?~
Finally. The end of the day, the best time of the school day. I packed up my stuff and started towards the school gate, I got out my earbuds and played my 'happy songs playlist since my life is a mess' and started my trip home.
As I was walking I felt a presence behind me, I choose to ignore it thinking it was just another person walking the same way I was. After a couple of minutes, I felt a tug on my earbud as it was pulled out of my ear.
Uh. What. I turn to my left to see a tall guy probably around six feet, he had black hair in a strange hairstyle and golden eyes. Those eyes, they seem familiar. And the guy was very handsome, has a good figure that smirk that played on his face, and those thighs, damn.
Omg, stop being gay Kenma! I look back down at my feet before responding "Do you need something?"
His smirk grew as he replied, "Your Kenma Kozume right?" I nodded my head while still looking at the ground.
"My name is Kuroo Tetsurou, you're a friend of Yakus correct?" I nodded again. "Yaku has been telling me that you played volleyball in middle school and that he wants you to join our team this year since you're a pretty good setter."
"Uh, yeah Yaku has been asking me to join. Are you apart of the team?" I asked slowly looking back up. "I'm the captain." He replied leaning closer to me.
He seemed so confident, the way he stands, and how he can look at me with those fierce golden eyes. It is inspiring. But also terrifying.
"Ok, so what do you want?" My eyes start to wander to the side as Kuroo leans into my range of sight again. "What I want is simple, if you're going to join you're going to have to prove you have what it takes."
"I was just thinking about joining I never said I would," I stated tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. "Well there still is a possibility, and that's enough for me."
Kuroo looked around before fixating his eyes on me again "You live in that house right? The mailbox says Kozume." He asked pointing to my house.
"Um yeah?"
"Great! Then starting tomorrow I will be walking you to school alright?"
I snap my head towards him, wait what? Why does he want to walk me to school? "Um, but wh-"
I was cut off by him placing his hand on my head and ruffling my hair. He leaned down and whispered in my ear.
"See you tomorrow ok?"
He then turned around and walked away, leaving me a flustered mess.
What was all that about? Why did he? Ugh! I'm so confused! I shook my head before deciding to drop it and walked over to my house.
I guess we will have to see tomorrow,
Kuroo Tetsurou
