-Rose-

"Steady bud."
She spoke out, hoping her gallant steed was listening to her commands. He did as told, collecting and transitioning down into a quick canter.
Rose sat back, clutching onto Mascari's long black mane.
The sound of his hooves clicking off the stone road was such a satisfying sound.
Rose's phone started to ring, she could feel the vibrations through her hoodies pocket. She took it out, reading what showed up on the screen.
"Unknown Caller ID?" She would mumble to herself as she brought the buckskin stallion back down to a walk, he let out a snort, flicking his ears around.
She answered the phone, holding it up to her ear.
"Hello?" She would answer as she steadied Muscari up.
She brought him over towards a wooden trailer around the entrance of the ranch she lives and works at. Rose slid off of Muscari's back, letting him start grazing as she leapt onto the trailer still waiting for an answer.
"Right, who is-" before she could finish her sentence was cut off.
"An inmate at Jorvik Prison would like to contact you." Chimes through the phone with a monotone voice.
She didn't need to hear what else the voice had to say.
"I accept the call." A heavy sigh left her mouth as she prepared herself for who was on the other line. It was either her mother or her girlfriend, soon to be ex girlfriend.
This call was going to happen at one point. "Hello?! Rose! Oh my darling!" Her girlfriend's voice rang through. It sounded so innocent and friendly. She sighed to herself every time, she crossed her fingers for it to be her mother, but she hasn't called in years.
"Hey Veronica. So why are you calling me? I need to tell you something but, you say what you need to first." Her hand reaches to the back of her neck, scratching it awkwardly.
"Oh Rose... you don't realize how bad it is in here. Anyway! I needed to call you so I could tell you I'll be getting out soon. They cut the sentence because they found out that I 'didn't' set that car on fire with Jack inside." It may just be Rose but she could tell that Veronica was doing air quotes when she said "didn't".
Her heart sank, she was not planning for this... "Woah... but... really? When?" Rose just needed to say it, "come on Rose, just spit it out." She would mumble to herself as she held her face away from her phone, then brought it back up.
"I'm getting out in a mon-" Veronica began but Rose interrupted her, cringing while she spat out the words.
"Sorry Vee, I'm breaking up with you." Rose's thumb went to press the big red X to end the call. But Veronica ended it first.
"Shit. What did I do to myself!" She would softly shout at herself as she pulled herself back up, climbing back onto Muscari, walking back home.

"WHAT THE HELL!"
She yelled. Muscari flattened his ears, not impressed with Rose yelling. He then perked them back up as the man standing before them scoffed.
"Rose, your life is in danger. You are going to that camp. You're also not bringing Muscari."
He reached up to give the horse a scritch but Muscari pulled his head back.
"Pete, you can't do this. I can handle Veronica, she wouldn't hurt me."
She crossed her arm over her prosthetic and turning her head.
"Rose! That women is a killer! I'm pretty sure she'd hurt you."
Pete had a very friendly vibe that made you just want to spill everything to him. He was honest and trustworthy, making him one of Rose's friends on the ranch.
"Please Rose, it'll only be for about a month or two, just until I sus the situation with Veronica, alright?"
Rose's nose scrunched up, she gave in.
"FINE! But! You have to make sure Muscari gets his love and attention but only from you. I don't trust anyone on the ranch."
She looked back at him, an empathetic smile emerging onto her face.
So it begins.
The start of the end.

Rose walked into the barn in Dundull.
The instructor coaxed her inside and to join the couple other students. There were about 10 other riders in the barn, she was surprised to see they were all around her age group. She had imagined a bunch of children being there but nope. She pulled her hoodies up over her head, clearly not wanting to socialize but she guessed that wasn't enough because some blind girl standing next to Rose started tugging on her arm. She started talking about how she had the same gloves as her as if they were already friends.
Rose pulled her arm away. The girl just smiled and turned back to the instructor.
"Right... and finally, Rose Brown?" The instructor called out.
"Yep." Rose looked up, faking a smile.
"You'll be riding Dima for the camp... ouch." The instructor cringed at the horse's name, it made Rose curious.
"Alright?" Rose could hear a couple other students muttering under their breath. "It seems like they know what this horse is like, and that I should be cautious?" Rose thought to herself.
