In the dead of night.
Or some may call it, the witching hour. Somewhere within the city of Bonesborough, lies the home that belonged to a noble family.
The Blights.
It was a very tall, towering, dark, and intimidating building that Luz the human has ever seen in her life. More frightening than any haunted house she's ever brisked pass in her neighbourhood back in the Human Realm. But this was nothing, she wasn't going to let this big scary mansion scare her just cause she decided to walk her bum all the way there from the owl house...
In the middle of the night...
On her own...
...With no one in sight whatsoever...
No. She was a brave witch. She wasn't a child who needed to grab onto something for dear life. Owlbert was definitely not giving her that knowing smug look. NO. In fact, it's probably him that's shaking in fear! Considering how ostensibly tight her grip was on the staff.
Luz was there for one reason and that reason only. To confess. To finally let out her true feelings and, hopefully, have them reciprocated. Well, even if the feelings weren't mutual at least Luz got to tell the other the real reason why she kept making lame excuses and cancel their Study Date.
On the brighter note, she wouldn't have to face embarrassement in school! But hiding from the twins would be a difficult task... But enough of that! Moving on...
Luz stood outside the Blight residence, giving her final prayers to God. Hoping that whatever that's making those rustling sounds behind her, wasn't going to pounce on her and leave her remains behind. If she was going to die from any demon critters lurking in the shadows, it was better somewhere secluded cause she ain't leaving no evidence behind. Plus, it'd leave an ugly scar to her pride.
Luz sneaked her way into the gardens, doing her best to stay inconspicuous, all the while staying under the shadows as much as possible as depicted from those scenes in the Kim Possible series she just couldn't put down. It took her awhile to realize that the Blights don't exactly have security patrolling around, or she was just probably too sneaky for them to catch her! The thought gave a her a small kick of confidence, no one could stop her now! Her feet caught onto something just as the satisfied grin settled on her lips. She fell on a bed of soft grass with a soft thud. Luz quickly pulled herself up to continue her journey, letting the blush bloom on her puffed cheek.
She finally stopped at... Dear goodness, how many rooms do they have?! Luz didn't bother giving a number to all those windows above her and simply went for the lowest one. She grabbed a good handful of pebbles from the ground and threw them all at once, there was a slow moment where a part of her brain told her "you could've just threw them one by one, you dolt!" and slowly as her eyes widen it was too late. Luckily, the pebbles didn't cause any damage to the window, though it did emitted an audible 'crack' noise, but it's probably nothing. Right...?
Fingers crossed, she hoped it wasn't Amity's mother. Hell knows what that witch could do to a wimpy nerdy kid like her. It wasn't the mother, thank God for that, but it was Emira instead who poked out the window. With one hand rubbing an eye, the older twin squinted down at the intruder. "...Luz?" She groggily spoke, her mouth stretching into a yawn. "Isn't it a little late to be playing Knucklebones?"
Luz let out a nervous laugh, then softly yells "sorry!" to the girl. Emira hummed, giving in to another yawn. "if you're looking for Amity, she's three windows to your right." The greenette directs her with a lazy finger. Luz glances at the third last window then looks back at Emira to give her thumbs up before moving to the said window. Emira doesn't bother witness what's to come next, she's just glad that the two witches can finally end their unbearable pining for one another. She closes back her window then tucks herself back to bed.
Luz, with a newfound confidence and determination, grabs the nearest object on the ground without looking and hurls it, hard, at the window. Needless to say, the sound of glass shattering followed with the familiar screech from a certain mint chocolate chip witch was enough to make her lose all that newfound feelings she had just a moment ago.
Amity awoke with a loud glass shattering noise, she fell to the floor with the covers tangled up around her limbs. It took her awhile to get a good grip of her footing, since she was also drunk with sleep and adrenaline. She grabbed her boot under the bed and went to her window, ready to crush someone's face with it. "I swear if it's you Boscha, I will not hesitate to—!" Amity froze midway when she realize who the culprit actually was. "Luz?! Why and what are you doing here?!"
The human had some nerve to show up in her otter onesie, looking so adorable and kissable, waving with that look of guilt while Amity was still trying to process what the Heck was her human crush doing out there in the dead of night. Was it a human thing? Amity hoped not. Because if she were to ever date this human she rather Luz not interrupt her needed beauty sleep.
"Amity! I'm so sorry about your window! But there's something I really need to tell you!"
The boot in her hand lowered as Amity let out a tired sigh, "can't it just wait until tomorrow?"
"That was my first thought! But after a small round of Apple Blood with Eda—"
"What?"
"—I just didn't know what got over my head! So I came here tonight, because I CANNOT let this chance slip!" Luz had those round sparkling eyes again. Oh Titans, Amity needed some milk. "Please Amity! Let me use this chance to tell you how I feel!" Alright, Amity wasn't going to lie but that sentence was enough to make her swoon. Which it would've happened if she weren't so freaking tired. Letting Luz's words go through her head for a few pondering moment, Amity finally nods for her to continue.
Luz beamed. She pulled out a guitar from thin air and that shook the soul out of Amity. "Wait, where'd you—?" Amity was cut off by the horrible numbers of random strumming coming from the guitar. The notes were so terrible that Amity could hear her brother falling out of his bed with a loud thud, and the scream of terror that came after. Amity was beginning to think that this Human Culture of hers was beginning to be a hazard to society. But Luz was not done. Oh boy. She went wild with her words, all of which she said was just repeated, "I LOVE YOU WITCH! I AIN'T NEVER GONNA STOP LOVING YOU WITCH!"
Amity couldn't exactly make out her words from all the loud noises coming from the instrument, but she did caught a few words like "ant", "glitch" and "blowing"...? Alright, she couldn't exactly hear what Luz was trying to deliver but it was all she could get before another series of strumming goes on. Amity was flattered by her gesture, but before she could voice out her concerns she was suddenly pulled away from the window. And voilà, in came Mother Gothel.
Luz stopped when she saw Odalia sneering down at her, if looks could kill Luz would've been one with the earth by now. "Insolent human!" The women yelled, she turned over her shoulder and screamed for her husband. "DARLING THE HOUNDS!"
Luz woke up feeling her head pounding mercilessly. She groaned at the pain, slowly sitting up on her shaking elbows. They gave out shortly and Luz had no other choice but to stay in bed the rest of the day since her body didn't feel like moving anytime. She missed a day of school which sucked and Eda had to leave for work, leaving her and Hooty the only ones in the house. Well, Hooty was always the house so It was basically just her.
She couldn't remember any of the events that happened last night, which was cool cause she wasn't going to give herself another brain splitting headache. Although, she did questioned the sudden appearance of a guitar resting in the corner of her room. She doesn't even play guitars. When she finally got the energy to move downstairs, she found a note pinned on the fridge left by Eda.
Hey kid,
I don't know what you did last night, nor do I know why Owlbert reeks of hound slobber, but something tells me that that broken window upstairs wasn't an accident.
"So that explains the cold breeze..." Luz shivered, crumpling the note and throwing it into a nearby bin. That action alone brought her a sudden feeling of deja vu. Again, Luz shivered, but it wasn't from the cold.
Okay yeah, hope you liked it! It's 1 am and I don't know what possessed me to write this. As you progress further you can tell my writing gets sloppier, which is a sign of my exhausted self trying to finish this in one go. But yeah, thanks for reading!
