Have you ever thought that , one day , you'd be sitting next to your bestfriend , of all people, as her fiance ?

No ?

Well , me neither. But , it happened , and I couldn't believe it either .

How could that possibly happen ? Well I cannot tell that over one page , and it is too long that a cup of coffee and sweet jazz music won't be enough to tell the whole story . It is , indeed , a long , complicated mess that we have found ourselves in .

To be more precise - and fair - , it was a deal . That damn deal . The one that triggered a serie of betrayal, deception and uncovered mysteries about ourselves and our lives ..

***

It was a very dark friday night , and Tamara , my best friend , and I were invited to this college reunion party which apparently involved all those former college friends who have long not seen each other . Of course , we both were the exception .

Anyways , as soon as we entered this cozy yet sophisticated woody restaurant where the reunion was taking place , some people whom could only recognize when I scrunitized my eyes at, were waving at us to join .

Tamara , on the other hand , was already telling me things about how that guy used to be her study buddy in this class , and how the girl over there and I had a spat once..

-" Ericka ! So glad to see you ! it has been a long while !" This curly haired guy , Demian , streches a hand that I shake back with a smile .

Tamara was the closest to Demian , he was the first closest person to her back in college . Figuring this was the time for me to navigate this event alone, I let them be when I finally meet a familiar face too .

I beam . " Candy !"

That was her nickname . Her real name was Giezelle , a dazzling brunette with a skin as soft as marshmellows , her eyes were hazel , and if that didn't make her like an eye snack yet , her frizzy hair was this light shade of brown that often fell on her forehead . She was quite petite , very cute looking , and even though her voice was thin , it sounded mature.

No wonder I had a very small crush on her when we first met which, fortunately for me, disappeared as we bacame friends .

-" Daisyy !"

Well my name was not daisy , but she said that I reminded her of Daisy in Mario Cart . I honestly still don't know how I felt about that . On one hand , I never liked Mario , but on the other I was glad she didn't call me Peach , I especially didn't like that blondie ..

Yet, I still think I did a better job with the nick name !

With a squeal , we hug each other and we walk away to get our seats.

We talk about everything and nothing . We jump from one topic to another and we laugh here and there , and at times , she has to make sure I was following as I didn't realize I was zoning out; honestly, I couldn't help but think about how she could only get more glamourous after 3 long years !

Suddenly , the lights go off and someome begins playing on the trumpet. We start clapping and Giezelle makes that adorable chuckle that makes me smile that my cheeks start to sting . The band starts playing one of their tracks , and it was soon time to get on the dance floor .

Theme was : Slow Dancing .

-" Hey , let's dance " . With that charming smile, Giezelle holds my hand and drags me to the dance floor before I could glue myself to the chair .
