Where Do Shooting Stars Come from?

Once upon a time, the Death lost himself while wondering around the world.
Just a few people have been fortunate enough to stare the Death in his icy blue eyes and live to tell the story. Everyone of them agreed on one thing: His warm smile and his cold aura didn't matched at all. It was disconcerting to say the least.

When Birth met him (while the sun was starting to hide and the sky was filled with vibrant colors) he was perplexed, to say the least.

They weren't supposed to meet. Never.

He could sense at first the slight fear in the other's eyes. Probably waiting for any sort of punishment from the mother of everything, their creator. Surprisingly, it vanished as soon as it appeared, being replaced by a curious look and a faint smile. His evergreen pupils catching the last rays of the Star above them.

It was mesmerizing.

"I guess even Death itself can't resist the beauty of Life, huh?"

He blinked for a few times, dumbfounded. Was he talking about…

He could feel the warmth on his cheeks as the other's words sank in his mind. How did the black haired got to that conclusion?

"I can say the same to you, Birth" leaving an amused laugh. It was interesting the situation they were in. "It's a pleasure to finally meet you though"

"Yeah, the pleasure is mine… " And there were his eyes again, covered with a tint of curiosity and suspicion, asking for answers without words. "You know we should be occupied with our works, right? And we aren't supposed to-"

"I'm taking a break" He got closer and reached gently for the opposite's hand. "and so are you, am I right?"

Strings of what seemed (and probably was) gold surrounded the palm and the tact was still filled with the vibrant energy that came with the birth of life itself.

Wonderful.

"I was helping Life with a new earth-connected soul."With a  slightly calmer and more heartwarming glance Birth explained his reasons."I have an excuse, what about you? What would you say if someone caught you being lazy on your work?"

He caught himself loving the different expressions in the deity's features.

He forced himself to answer the question that the other had asked.

"I think many would enjoy me taking a break for once" A laugh that was supposed to sound light (but it just showed how tired he was). "It's a fact that no one wants to lose a dear one."

"No one wants to see a dear one suffering either, Death."

He could sense the empathy in those words.

"Right." He let the word in the air for some seconds after replying. "For now, and if someone asks, this never happened." He found a place in the grass to sit. "It will be a great loss to not appreciate this sight though so," He offered his hand. "what about we both taking a break for once? Tell me more about that earth-linked soul?"

Azure eyes trying to find the sympathy in emerald ones.

"If someone asks, it was your fault that I got late to my duties."

"If someone asks, I would gladly accept the blame."

They got caught that day. By no other than Life herself.

Mama was by her side. Their creator found them too while they were in a light hearted but passionate discussion about the different creatures of the Earth.
