Left Alone Chapter one: Apocalypse

  Left Alone

In the year 2026 a group of botanists were studying a pesticide that eats other crops. The plant called ''Hydnellum peck ii'',also known as devil's tooth,but quickly began to spread to human through physical touch, food,oxygen,or even the share of blood. Now panic filled the world as the virus only became larger.

The sounds of sirens loudly flooded my ears and I felt I'd been deafened.I opened the car door and dashed outside the hospital to the entrance.

''Hell-''. I was cut off to the sounds of crying from the swarming crowd around the building.

''Ma'am can you please tell me what's going on?''I asked the woman at the entrance.

''Hurry, they're coming!'' She exclaims.

My eyes widened and I grabbed my best friend who drove me.

''Jake.'' I asked.

''....'' No reply.

He looked very..empty. His dark black hair,dark brown eyes,and his pale skin.He is my only friend and my everything.I won't let anything happen to him. Why did this have to happen to me?

Chapter 1: The Apocalypse.

We went inside the enormous hospital, trying to make it through the crowd, we finally reached the second floor. There were about 20 people in the room all looking quite terrified.

''Aurora...?'' He asked quietly.

''Yes?''

''I'm worried.'' He looked down.

What he said broke my heart. I wanted things to be normal.Before the emergency call for our town. Before the pandemic.

Everyone was staying in the first floor, but Jake and I went to the 4th floor in a room. We covered the abandoned room with blankets and food we brought with us. I wanted us at least a little separated from everyone. I needed time to think a little.

''Jake, I promise everything will be ok.''

''Yeah. '' He sighed. ''You're right.''

''Goodnight Jake.'' I said with a slight smile.

''Goodnight Aurora.''

*thump*

...*thump*

I opened my eyes and heard a noise near the window and I thought I was dreaming.

''Jake wake up I hea-.''

''I know I heard it too. Let me check.''

I was concerned about the noise but I didn't think much of it.

''Jake?''

''...''

''Um..Jake?''

Afraid,I jumped up and approached Jake.

''Jake..?''

There it was. The thing that caused this apocalypse in the first place. An infected.

''JAKE!''

He turned at me with soulless eyes.

He put his finger over his mouth motioning to be quiet.

Jake backed up slowly and quietly,closed the curtain and grabbed my hand and brought me to our sleep area.

''Aurora...did you..see that?'' He was out of breath from fear.

''What was that?''

''That was a infected. Everyone of them is different.''

''Really..?'' I couldn't believe what I had seen.

"AHHH!"

*Screams filled the floors underneath us and we knew they saw the demons too. Those..beasts.

''Hurry!'' He said starting down the stairs.

''Right.''

Once we got down the stairs the floor was covered with dark red blood. Everyone was panicking and screaming with terror. There was a tall,underweight,human like looking monster at the end of the hall staring. There was a bloody mess on the floor beside it.A man,or..was a man.

Jake zoomed past me fast at the monster.

He got really close to the monster and shut the doors right before it would reach him.He locked them and started panting heavily. He just saved us.

He collapsed right in front of me and I hadn't noticed,but he had a scratch from the infected. Blood slowly spilled off his wound and fear hit me hard.

''JAKE!"

I picked him up and found bandages from the hospital's main medical supplies room. I wrapped them around his side.

''Aurora.?''He asked.

''Yes..?''

''You ok?''

''Yeah.'' I smiled at him.

After I bandaged him up I put his arm over my shoulder. He was really heavy,so it was hard to breath.I struggled but I carried him up to the fourth floor.

''Jake,thank you.''

''For what?''

''For being here with me.''

He smiled at me.I didn't quite know what would happen or if we'd be ok,but as long as I had Jake i'd be fine.I finished making us some macaroni and cheese and I tucked him into bed I thought . Hopefully things will go better tomorrow.
