EXT. KOLIAN TOWN - MORNING
A small but bustling town. Just down the road, the great Castle of Kolian. In the middle of the town, a little well. The tallest building, a three story tavern.
Out of a small house next to the tavern, steps a teenage boy dressed in your average townsfolk rags. A dagger holstered on each hip.
ELI ALASTAIR (14). Speaking with an English accent.
ELI: I'll be back before dark, mother!
He closes the door behind him. Waiting in front of the house, AALIYAH ZORIYAH (14). A slightly shorter girl with long brown hair. She's dressed fancier, obviously wealiter than Eli. A burgundy wool dress, a french sabre on her hip, and an expensive-sounding French accent.
AALIYAH: Took you long enough, Eli.
ELI: How long have you been out here, Aaliyah?
AALIYAH: About half an hour.
She smiles warmly at Eli.
ELI: Okay.. what's the rush?
AALIYAH: Seriously?! Prince Kolian's hosting the Crimson Contract entrance exams!
ELI: That's today?!
AALIYAH: Yes, that's today! Come on!
Aaliyah runs off. Eli follows. They run through the town, passing by several houses and townsfolk.
Eli quickly strafes around a man carrying a crate. Spooked, the man drops the crate. It breaks.
MAN: You damn kids!
ELI: Sorry!
Eli and Aaliyah look at each other and giggle.
EXT. CASTLE OF KOLIAN - CONTINUOUS
Two knights on guard duty watch as Eli and Aaliyah quickly approach the gate.
On the right side, JACMER ZUMIKAN (34).
On the left, WENCER FORIDAHL (32).
JACMER: There they are again.
WENCER: What is this, the third time already?
JACMER (chuckling): Third time's the charm, Wence.
WENCER: I suppose so.
Eli and Aaliyah run up to them.
ELI: Morning, Jacmer! Morning, Wencer!
JACMER: Good morning, Eli. To you as well, Aaliyah.
Aaliyah smiles at Jacmer. Wencer squats down to match their height.
WENCER: I take it you two are here for the exam?
ELI: Of course we are!
JACMER: You think you've got it this time?
AALIYAH: For sure. This time, we pass! That's a promise!
Jacmer chuckles as he pats them both on the head.
JACMER: Good luck, you guys. I'll be rooting for you. Open the gate!
The gate raises. Eli and Aaliyah excitedly run in.
