"Wake up!'' Said Lieutenant Dom. As everybody wakes up, he looks angry. As always. He woke us up later than usual, which was rare. He tells us that we'll be training with guns today and everybody looks excited except for me. My name is James and I'm in the army. I joined the army about five months ago and it isn't what I expected. My dad used to be in the army. He wasn't an amazing soldier, but he was a brave soldier. My dad was on a mission with a five man squad and only one ended up surviving. The survivor's name was Dom Dexler. He's now our lieutenant. My dad's squad was on a mission to scout an area where terrorists had taken hostages. The squad split up to look in different areas and my dad had been partnered with lieutenant Dom who wasn't a lieutenant at the time.

The other three left for their area while my dad and lieutenant Dom stayed in the same bushy area. My dad spotted two hostages with five guards. "Straight ahead, we found two of the hos-" A loud explosion coming from the where the other soldiers had been scouting. My dad tries to contact them while lieutenant Dom is watching their surroundings, ''JACK! ANDY! KYE! DO YOU COPY! I REPEAT, DO YOU COPY!'' Nobody answers. Shortly after, three guards spot my dad and lieutenant Dom. They both run for cover but one of the guards shoots my dad in the shoulder. They made it to cover and lieutenant Dom says, ''JAMES, ARE YOU OKAY?" My dad answers and says loudly, 'I'm fine, I'm okay.'' The guards ran to a rock that was next to where my dad and lieutenant Dom were hiding and constantly shooting at them. As my dad treats his injury, lieutenant Dom tries shooting at the guards and gets shot in the leg, and on the arm.

My dad says,'' WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! ARE YOU OKAY?!'' Lieutenant Dom says weakly,'' I'm alright.'' My dad uses the rest of the bandages he was gonna use for himself to treat lieutenant Dom's injury. It had been about eight hours and the guards were shooting at them for several minutes. Both my dad and lieutenant Dom were okay by then. My dad asked how lieutenant Dom had been feeling and he said, ''It still hurts really badly.'' My dad felt much better so he told lieutenant Dom to rest for a bit longer while he tried to keep watch of the guards. Lieutenant Dom had rested for about an hour and a half and he noticed my dad still keeping watch and he felt useless. He couldn't help it. He remembered my dad spotting the hostages, him guiding him towards the cover that they were still in. He was treating his injuries caused by his own stupidity with the bandages that were supposed to be for my dad. Lieutenant Dom stood up and pushed my dad into the corner that he had been resting in.

My dad tried to stop him but he was already out of cover getting ready to fire at the guards. When the shots start hitting the cover that the guards were in, two come out to shoot lieutenant Dom but get shot before they could even aim. Lieutenant Dom says loudly,''ONE MORE LEFT JAMES!" But as he finishes that sentence, three more guards show up from the cover that all of them had been hiding in. Two guards run to a rock fast enough to dodge lieutenant Dom's shots. My dad yells,''GET IN COVER NOW! DO IT NOW!" Lieutenant Dom doesn't listen and keeps shooting but he couldn't shoot in two different locations at once and gets shot in the other arm and drops his gun. My dad runs to lieutenant Dom and shoots at the guards as he yells," RUN BACK TO BASE! I"LL HOLD THEM OFF FOR AS LONG AS I CAN!" Lieutenant Dom says," I'M NOT LEAVING YOU HERE!" As more guards show up my dad yells even louder," RUN DAMMIT! IF ONE OF US HAVE TO DIE IN ORDER TO SAVE THOSE HOSTAGES THEN IT'LL BE ME! NOW GO!''

Lieutenant Dom ran as fast as he could while he stared back at my dad facing all those guards fearlessly. He had been running for a while but he could still barely hear all the gunshots. After about a minute of more running and gunshots, he hears an extremely loud explosion and all the gunshots stop. Lieutenant Dom stopped running and threw himself to the ground as he yelled as loudly as he could with tears streaming down his eyes. Even though he felt frustrated and angry, he got up and ran all the way back to the base.

As he made it to the gate the other soldiers recognized him and opened the gate immediately. He was trying to tell everybody what happened but he couldn't even catch his breath. As lieutenant Dom entered the gate, he was in so much pain and was incredibly exhausted that he immediately fainted. All the soldiers carried him to the emergency room as they notified the doctors that he was seriously injured and he needed treatment as soon as possible. Lieutenant Dom finally woke up and the doctor in the room asked how he was feeling and he said,''Better.'' He gets up to try walking and he feels no pain at all. He wondered how long he was out but didn't bother asking the doctor. He finds his uniform and walks out of the hospital where everybody was waiting to congratulate him on becoming lieutenant.
