                                                      Prologue

Mum erupted into a mirthful laughter.

"Mum, stop laughing! This is serious! I mean it!" I huffed, scowling at my mum as she sat on the opposite couch in the dimly lit, cozy living room, "If a Zombie Apocalypse comes, we need a meet up point! Somewhere away from the chaos of the city! "

She looked at me with a raised eyebrow, biting on the her lip to keep herself from laughing even though I knew she could barely keep it in.

"Uh-huh darling, I think someone watched too many zombie movies recently." Mum snickered, lounging back comfortably and reached forward for the bowl of cookies that sat on the small coffee table. I watched in slight amusement as Bruno, our puppy german shepherd, whimpered, his eyes following the bowl with a worship like attention.

"No, I haven't!"

 Yes. I bloody have.

I turned around quickly as I heard shuffling movement and soft groaning coming from behind me.

"Oh man! You should've seen your face sis!" Jack cackled, as he jumped over the couch, and flopped heavily into the seat next to me, making Bruno bark in excitement. I didn't even hear him come in.

"You fucking jerk!!!"I shouted, clutching at my pounding chest and breathing heavily as he chortled in his seat, making the couch shake slightly. He threw his arm around me and squeezed hard, making me wince slightly before I started glaring at him.

"Language Kat!" Mum scolded me but she still held a smile on her face as she watched Jack's antics, "How was long are you staying for?"

"Same as always mum, until I get the call."Jack chuckled, and squeezed me tighter against his side to annoy me. I counted to ten in my head, took a deep breath and jabbed him hard into his side, making him grunt and double over in pain.

I smiled at him sweetly as he shot me daggers from beneath his beefy arm, " Mum, we need that bloody check point, not only if the dead come back from the dead but lets say that...there's bombing or something. We need to find a place to meet, in case we get seperated and phones are down!" I stressed and smiled when Bruno barked, wagging his tail happily as if in agreement with me.

"What's she on about this time mum?" Jack groaned, leaning back against the couch, massaging his side vigoriously, his handsome face shrouded in the shadow of the evening lamp that stood next to the tv. That mum muted for the time being.

"Kat thinks we should come up with a safe place in case something happens aka, the Zombie apocalypse. I think she just watched a couple too many of The Walking Dead" episodes." Mum explained, munching on a couple of oreo cookies.

I braced myself for his mocking laughter but when it didn't come I looked down to see him watching me thoughtfully, his brown eyes met my own replica's, our black her matchingingly dark, our faces painfully similar. You would think that we were twins, since we looked so alike but since he was 4 years older, that wasn't the case.

"Ya know what mum, that isn't such a bad idea." Jack looked at mum as she groaned and threw cookies at us, which we both snatched from air at the same time.

"Fine! Where do you want it to be?" Mom sighed propping her hand against her chubby cheek in a resigned manner.

"My army base." Jack stated as if the discussion was already over. I scoffed at his stupid thinking.

"Yes, Jacky boo, let's do what everybody else does in those stupid movies, run towards the army and when the army get's overrun, we'll have hundreds of Zombies in military uniform." I rolled my eyes at him, " We need somewhere where there's not a lot of people around, so that we're not an easy target. Somewhere at the edges of the city, preferably woods, where we can re-group and think of our next move."

Jack stared at me with his mouth open, mumbling " You know, you should join the military. We could use someone like you."

"Yes, Jack i'll join the military. Because I want to eat crappy food and have absolutely no social life so to speak off. Or a boyfriend for that matter, which in your case means no girlfriend." I smirked at him.

"Oh, Kat, why must you be such a hater?" He looked at me, looking falsely hurt.

Rolling my eyes, I spoke, "However, since this is London we're talking about, meaning too many cities to walk through, which would be too dangerous, either from the dead or alive, so i'm thinking we should head to the coast, get a boat or something, travel towards Scotland, they've got less cities there, more places to hide in, less chances to meet too many people at once. Basildon is quite close to London, maybe we could meet down there?"

Now both of them looked at me with stunned expressions, "What? I watch a lot of films."

"So I see." Jack looked at me with calculating eyes.

"Well, I do!" I said.

"Uh-huh." Mum said, not laughing anymore.

I huffed. Bruno barked, laying his head in my lap. I scratched his ear making him purr in content. Yes, dogs purr.

"Basildon it is kiddo's. Now, can you please stop talking? I'm trying to watch some Keith Lemon here." Mum, said good humoredly and threw some more cookies at us, but this time I wasn't fast enough to catch it and it hit me on my forehead, hard. I scowled at mum and  Jack as they burst out laughing.

"Oh one more thing, how long do we wait for each other?" I asked. Jack rubbed his clean shaven face thoughtfully.

"Two weeks?"

"But what if we can't find a ride, we'll have to walk there."

"Fine, three weeks it is. "

Mission Accomplished, let's just hope, I won't ever have to use this plan.

I settled deeper into the couch, watching the scandalous tv host without a care in the world.

What I didn't know is that the moment I dreaded will come by sooner than I thought.

Much sooner.
