With a hazy mind, a boy from a hidden-away village has been dragged to a different world by something entirely out of his control, and even the welcome wasn't anything gentle!
Armed with his grandfather's pistol, he marches forward in this new world...

With an aching head, he sat up and opened his eyes to unfamiliar scenery. A forest with dark-green bushes and brown trees surrounded him. He wandered the forests that surrounded his village many times, and memorized most important routes to not get lost, but not a single aspect of his current location seemed familiar, especially the dark-green bushes.
What even brought him here..?
He didn't know why he was here, or what the plants were, but the thought of touching the bush to see if the plant was something even slightly familiar crossed his mind, although a run-in with poison ivy taught him to not do that again.. especially with eating it to find out the taste.
Everything in his mind was as foggy as could be, events from however long either missing or blotted out. He didn't even understand why things were noticeably missing from his mind, but he had to at least get his bearings.
The trees that surrounded him allowed only a small amount of light in, just enough to tell that it was currently daytime, but he couldn't see the sun to figure out which direction was east, or how far into the day it was. He could climb the tree, but if he fell and got injured, that'd only add to the problem for him..
Did he come here unequipped? Was he somehow tossed out of the village while asleep? Did he eat something he shouldn't have again? Many things crossed his mind before he looked around a bit more, but something reassuring yet troubling laid on grass beside him.
"What's in here..?" He thought to himself after looking down at the item laid on the ground beside him. It was a medium-sized, patchy leather backpack, and it seemed rather full. This was the backpack he took with him while gathering wood when he was younger, which he had with him for years prior to that, having even used it while going to school in the city, so he wondered why it was here.
He reached down to the backpack on the ground beside him, then picked it up. He opened the backpack to see a plastic bag full of bite-sized cheese sandwiches for him to eat, a large canteen of water - more than enough to last three days, a steel kitchen knife with a wooden handle, and a familiar pistol - an old pistol he knew belonged to his deceased grandfather.
He couldn't remember packing any of these items, but he had enough resources to last two or three days. Despite the situation he was in, he was unable to feel worried, and even he found that a bit strange. However, what did annoy him a good bit was the lack of a compass or map in the bag.
He could tell with absolute certainty that he was lost inside a forest that he'd never been to before, so why wasn't he scared? It puzzled him, but his goal remained the same. With the resources he had with him, he had a good amount of time to find his way out.
He closed his backpack and got up, then put it on before starting to walk to the left of his current location, using a boulder as reference for which direction he was going in. He wasn't feeling all that thirsty or hungry, so he didn't need to worry about that at the time. Even after walking for a few minutes, he still found himself annoyed about not having a compass.
