The practice match against Karasuno was close, way too close. Tōru Oikawa had prepared thoroughly for it- practicing his sets, talking with the spikers, getting up the morale. Yet, he didn't feel ready. He wanted to know every single possibility, information hoarding being one of his biggest talents. So as most common teenagers would do, he took it to social media. He had a lot of followers there, if he was being honest, but that wasn't the point- the point was who the Karasuno team was following. 'Could be useful at some point', was the excuse for his understandable curiosity.
Ishinoya, the team's libero, followed almost all of Japan. Hinata followed around 500 people, average. Kageyama just followed his teammates. He continued, going through all of them, until he reached the team's ace: Asahi Azumane. The tall boy's account had captured his attention, as Oikawa knew everyone the other members followed, but Asahi? He only followed two people who he thought were his parents, and another account that he didn't recognize- but had an relatively high following, around 15,000.
At this point the excuse of 'Could be useful at some point' was out of the window. He was fully aware he was doing this out of curiosity, as if knowing his enemies Instagram following could help in the middle of a volleyball game.
